acheronukslangasek: I tried a couple of times to get people to do some verification, without much luck so far. I'll ask again.05:09
acheronukeveryone seems more keen on trying the new and shiny Plasma 5.10!05:09
cpaelzerapw: infinity: rbasak: ok I'll continue to testbuild via bileto then and might reference to it e.g. for dep8 test previews, but I'll submit "normally" then as I really do not want to cause you more work06:02
cpaelzerinfinity: thanks for bringing that up - I didn't realize that causes trouble further down the SRU chain06:02
LocutusOfBorgplease let openldap migrate, thanks (libreoffice:i386 testsuite sucks)07:08

-queuebot:#ubuntu-release- Builds: Ubuntu Kylin Desktop i386 [Artful Alpha 1] has been marked as ready08:17
LocutusOfBorgwhy is the debian autosync so slow today?08:20
apwbig perhaps08:22
LocutusOfBorgI don't see new imports being processed since ~24h or something like that08:22
LocutusOfBorglets wait a new dinstall08:22
LocutusOfBorgand I can't upload stuff in my ppa :s08:23
LocutusOfBorge.g. moka-icon-theme, is almost two days old now08:26
cjwatsonLocutusOfBorg: my fault for breaking the importer config while trying to enable buster imports, by the looks of things; William landed a fix last night08:33
cjwatsonI'll roll that out today08:34
LocutusOfBorgoh ok :) I tried to wait, but I didn't see mentions on irclogs, so I decided to write it here, thanks for caring/fixing08:35
cjwatsonI didn't mention it because I didn't know about the breakage until this morning :)08:36
LocutusOfBorgI mean other people in general :)08:36
apwLocutusOfBorg, is what the channel is for ...09:17
cpaelzerinfinity: thanks for thinkin with me thourhg potential regressiosn of bug 159390709:36
ubot5bug 1593907 in ntp (Ubuntu Zesty) "ntpdate startup routine prevents ntp service from launching up on Ubuntu 16.04 server on system boot; manually starting ntp service works: [FIX in DESCRIPTION], just need to apply it and release a new version" [Undecided,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/159390709:36
cpaelzerinfinity: I updated the bug, but TL;DR I think what you brought up is not an issue09:36
cpaelzerIMHO - ready to be "revisited" for sponsoring & SRU09:37
LocutusOfBorghello, where should I report builders kernels upgrade requests? :P10:05
LocutusOfBorgI found the culprit for the libreoffice-i386 testsuite sadness, as well as the rustc ppc64el build failures and so on10:05
LocutusOfBorgdebian bug: #86530310:06
ubot5Debian bug 865303 in src:linux "libreoffice: Libreoffice Java features crash with Linux 3.16.43-2+deb8u1" [Serious,Fixed] http://bugs.debian.org/86530310:06
LocutusOfBorgapw, maybe I can prod you, but this is not really about the Ubuntu kernel, but rather the buildds installed one10:06
* apw passes that info on ...10:18
=== mparillo_ is now known as mparillo
cjwatsonLocutusOfBorg: in what sense is the buildd-installed kernel not the Ubuntu kernel?10:20
cjwatsonLocutusOfBorg: (they're upgraded automatically and routinely from cloud images)10:20
cjwatsonarm64 is currently a special case IIRC but that doesn't seem to be what you're talking about10:20
LocutusOfBorgyep, I found it, and my last retry has picked up the kernel in security pocket10:21
LocutusOfBorgthe latest one seems to be reverting somewhat the CVE patch10:21
LocutusOfBorgnot sure if the published kernel has an incomplete patch or what, debdiffs between ubuntu kernels is difficult10:22
sbeattieLocutusOfBorg: it's converting from an early iteration of the fixes to the ones that were accepted upstream, which also should address the java issues that were seen.10:25
sbeattie(well, earlier)10:25
apwLocutusOfBorg, what sbeattie said ...10:25
LocutusOfBorgsbeattie, I see that, but rustc is failing on ppc64el in the same way in debian, lets wait for their give-back10:32
cjwatsonLocutusOfBorg: next importer run should work11:26
LocutusOfBorgthanks!11:29
LocutusOfBorgLaney, for your happyness debian bug: #86638912:12
ubot5Debian bug 866389 in release.debian.org "transition: perl 5.26" [Normal,Open] http://bugs.debian.org/86638912:12
LocutusOfBorg:)12:12
LaneyLocutusOfBorg: noooooooooope12:27
Laneywhy would that make me happy anyway?12:27
apwLaney, lets hope LocutusOfBorg has mastered sarcasm12:30
LaneyI hope that's what it is12:31
Laneybut I don't get why it's directed at me :P12:31
LocutusOfBorgLaney, I remember your happyness for the 5.24 transition, was driven by you IIRC12:34
apwLaney, i assume it will blow up the ADT queues, which will make you happy12:34
LocutusOfBorgand yes, sarcasm is intended :)12:34
=== pietroalbini_ is now known as pietroalbini
infinitycpaelzer: Ahh, calling it with '-g' must be 'new' (for some value of new, I'm clearly old).  Did you check that with large offsets, the initial start just slams the system into a more correct time, instead of attempt to adjtime it with a days-long drift?13:35
infinitycpaelzer: If it does one hard settimeofday, then moves on to adjtime, I agree that ntpdate is entirely useless in that scenario.13:36
infinitycpaelzer: (It used to be that you explicitly wanted a non-adjtime ntpdate call first, then ntpd to drift you to perfection).13:36
cpaelzerinfinity: the default is to slew time if under 128 ms but to step it if above that13:46
cpaelzerthe limit can be increased with -x (to drift higher amounts of delta), but the default should be 129 ms13:46
cpaelzerso, TL;DR it should set it if the delta is huge13:47
cpaelzeralthough to admit - I haven't tested it yet to verify how right the manpage is about that13:47
cpaelzerinfinity: I can do so and update the bug if you want13:47
infinitycpaelzer: Would be nice to have peace of mind on that.13:48
cpaelzerok, will do so13:48
infinitycpaelzer: Honestly, if ntpd's first run does the job of ntpdate, I almost feel like ntpd should provide/conflict ntpdate (and provide a /usr/bin/ntpdate that one-shots ntpd if it's not running, or something clever), for the few packages that depend on ntpdate for odd reasons.13:49
infinitycpaelzer: But that's not worth doing in an SRU.  Having ntpdate effectively inert is fine too.13:49
cpaelzeryeah but it is a nice suggestion for the further deprecation and dropping of ntpdate13:51
