konradosHi! When I press ctrl+shift+l gedit application starts, which I don't want to. I looked at start menu -> global keyboard shortcuts and start menu -> custom shortcuts but I can't see it there. Where else can I look at?04:28
Mrokiikonrados: System Settings -> Shortcuts. There are other lists, besides "custom".05:52
konradosMrokii, yeah thanks, but I already tried all of them, i.e.  "global keyboard shortcuts", "application keyboard shortcuts" and even "web shortcuts" :(05:55
MrokiiSorry, not sure then where else it could be.05:55

MrokiiHello. I have a problem that may be system-related, but it may have to do with my irc-client. As long as I can think back I got system-notifications only when my nick was mentioned in a message. But a short while ago I started getting notifications for *every* irc message. I'm not sure if I accidentally hit some shortcut that activated this or what happened. Any ideas?09:41
lordievaderSounds like a configuration option somewhere, indeed.09:51
MrokiiI think I may have found it.10:06

jubo2What partition table type and what filesystem should I choose on external disk to enable OS X to read and write to it?11:45
BluesKajjubo2, check whether OSX can write to NTFS like linux can11:51
jubo2BluesKaj: apparently no11:59
jubo2I made the fs FAT3211:59
jubo2now the disk works12:00
BluesKajok , good to know, but it's limited to 4G, right ?12:03
jubo2Nope12:13
jubo2300GB disk looks ok12:13
=== psycho is now known as Guest64039
BluesKajjubo2, better check that out12:25
lordievaderjubo2, BluesKaj: the limit of a single file is 4Gb. The disk size limit is a lot higher.12:31
BluesKajlordievader, yeah 4G files , 32G max partition for windows Install12:35
lordievaderRecent OSX versions should support exFat. Though you want to create the fs on a Mac, if it is created on a Linux machine the Mac will refuse to read it.12:38

lordievaderThough some of those are in zombie state, a reboot may be easier.13:37
Guest64039it sais unknown option a13:37
lordievaderOh that needs to be `sudo dpkg --configure -a`13:38
Guest64039dpkg: error: dpkg status database is locked by another process13:39

BullHornhello21:39
BullHorncan i install kubuntu in virtualbox using the regular 17.04 .iso file?21:40
mparilloBullHorn: Yes. Simply download the ISO, and put in in the virtual CD-ROM.21:42
BullHorngreat, thanks21:43
mparilloThen start your VM. Ideally with over 1GB of Memory and 20GB of disk. Sometimes I have to turn off HW acceleartion to pan using Google Maps.21:43
BullHornshould i let it have 4gb? or 2gb is enough?21:43
BullHorni have 16gb total and rarely games reach near that much21:43
mparilloFor my use case (generally separating personal web browsing and light document editing from my work PC), the gain from 1 to 2 is enough. But, unlike increasing disk space, you can change RAM easily.21:48
BullHornill just let it have 3gb ram and 30gb space in any case21:51
BullHorni just had the unpleasant experience of opening a page in chrome on windows and it popped up a ton of ads and tried to install a chrome extension21:51
BullHorngot through windows defender and ublock origin... unacceptable :|21:51
mparilloOne thing I do is I grab a hosts file from: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts22:09
mparilloIt seems to reduce a lot of that kind of thing.22:10
keithzgWell I'm confused. Filelight is telling me I'm using 138.6 GiB, du tells me 188G, and df tells me 208G . . .22:27
keithzgI guess it's likely tons of tiny files somewhere.22:30
BullHornhmm kubuntu is running extremely slowly in VirtualBox22:32
BullHornany tips on that?22:32
keithzgBullHorn: First up, do you definitely have hardware virtualization enabled on your machine? (For whatever reason, nearly all motherboards still ship with it disabled by default)22:38
BullHornVT-x/AMD-V is enabled22:39
BullHornunless you mean something else22:39
BullHorni used to have a box in the past22:39
BullHorni just dont remember how i made it run smoothly22:39
BullHornmaybe i used VMWare at the time ;x22:39
BullHornthat seems to be much nicer for clients22:39
keithzgHeh, personally I've had nothing but problems with VMWare, but to each their own22:40
keithzgWell, if you're 100% sure that either VT-x or AMD-V i(depending) s enabled in your motherboard firmware, next up would probably be to make sure that the VM has enough video RAM22:41
BullHornupped CPU count from 1 to 4, much better22:41
BullHornbut still not totally smooth22:41
BullHorni set it to the max allowed - 128mb ;x22:41
keithzgHowabout storage controller? I think the default is still IDE22:41
keithzg(although they may have finally fixed that)22:42
BullHornusing SATA controller ;x22:42
keithzg*shrug* I dunno, guess your host PC is just slow ;)22:43
