[01:26] could anyone help me to change my OS language? [01:26] hi giovanni [01:26] hello [01:27] i already installed the new language trought language support but it isn't applied to the system [01:28] You usually need to logout or reboot before the settings take effect. [01:28] yeah i already restart it [01:29] You also need to move your desired language to the top of the stack in language support settings [01:29] okay and after that restar again? [01:29] you wemt to ,emu - lanhuages and selecter yours? [01:30] giovanni, a logout / login should do it according to the settings dialog [01:30] okay i'm going to try it thanks [01:30] giovanni, however be aware that some parts of the system are not translated. [01:31] giovanni, such as the application listings in the Software Boutique [01:31] and won't be? [01:31] giovanni, it is on the works and we aim to roll out translated versions of software boutique in the 17.10 release cycle. [01:32] ohh okay [05:32] teamsters [05:32] gday [06:09] hey guys, when i attempt to lock screen - my sesssion starts to hang a bit [06:09] i wouldnt say freeze, but many things are unresponsive - have u come across that before? [07:50] Merhaba [09:05] Salut boit ces vence [09:06] je suis nouvau === daniel is now known as Guest37368 [09:30] hey guys, anyone from the UK here? Merci. [09:34] alksig, i remember you being quite helpful on several occasions. How are you? and if possible dould i rab your expertise for a moment? [09:57] Kenzo, had you written my name correctly, I would have seen what you wrote before you left :) [10:24] Please someone, anyone, help me uninstall android studio. It seems impossible! [11:01] Hey === finn is now known as Guest33279 === led2 is now known as led1 [15:32] When moving 100 photos to another dir, I get the progress dialog for at least one minute... while it should happen in 1 sec, as they're in the same file system [15:32] Anyone else gets that? [15:52] (I mean, with cut/paste from caja) [16:25] k [16:26] Nah it completely hangs... maybe it's trying to update metadata or thumbnails or something, and it does it wrong... [17:25] So, I see that buttons 4 and 5 on my mouse work as Forward and Back in Firefox. . . But where is that configured? I don't see anything about it in Mouse Preferences, in the Control Center? [17:26] control center - keybpard shortcuts ? [17:34] I didn't see anything related to the mouse in there? I'll look again. . . [17:34] zobeid: might be preconfigured options or code on the mouse itself. [18:50] hey anyone about? [18:50] No [18:50] haha hello Laserman [18:51] Aloha [18:52] do you know much about hal, hal-info package by any chance? I can't stream video from 2 sites [18:53] I can only get hulu and netflix using chrome from google [18:54] chrome and firefox have failed me with this unfortunately. i might have to resort to playonlinux :o [18:54] that wont help [18:55] Whaatt?! why? Back in the day when I used Ubuntu 14.04 all i needed to do was download hal/hal-info to get this site to work. now it makes no difference [18:57] Oh.. if 32 bit.. bad news [18:57] I'm on a 64 bit machine [19:00] another thing that's seeming impossible is uninstalling android studio. if anyone knows they should have a monument in their image [19:01] 3rd party apps suck [19:03] yes i'm beginning to discover that. the entire internet doesn't seem to know either which is rare [19:04] https://askubuntu.com/questions/546723/uninstall-android-studio-completely [19:14] alanb [19:15] Sorry, I have never used IRC before so am making mistakes [19:18] alkisg, thanks. i tried this but the program was still there! [19:35] Kenzo: which of those 5 answers did you try, and where it the program after uninstallation? [19:37] alkisg, the one with 32 hits - removing each of the folders from the directories.the program was still in my menu options and when i clicked it seemed all i had done was removed my configuration/settings. so i would need to start the setup again === kevin is now known as Guest78685 [19:52] Kenzo: you can drag the menu to your desktop, and then right click properties to see WHERE the program is [19:52] That is, a file system path, not a menu [19:55] alkisg, does this answer the question? '/usr/local/android-studio/bin/studio.sh' [19:56] Kenzo: yes, so, it seems you installed android-studio as root and not as the user [19:56] So, /usr/local/android-studio is where the program is; and the desktop file might be in /usr/local/share/applications [19:56] Ah, I'm stumped, i just followed the instructions from the android studio website [19:57] so i need to find the /usr/local/android-studio and delete it? [19:58] Programs put data in various locations. That's the major location, but deleting that one won't e.g. delete your menu entry [19:59] First check the installation instructions that you followed, and see if they have uninstallation instructions [19:59] Then, check the other dir that I said as well [19:59] Finally, if you delete those and you still have leftovers, you can also check in #android [19:59] As it's not an ubuntu package so it's not supported in ubuntu channels [20:00] OK will do, thanks alkisg. I'm not going to make that mistake again. How can yout tell if you are installing as root? [20:00] sudo means root [20:01] oh yeah *facepalm* [20:09] everything is probably somewhere in /usr/local [20:09] most e.g. /usr/local/share/applications/whatever could be a menu entry [20:09] e.g. /usr/local/share/applications/whatever could be a menu entry [21:39] hello [21:40] total newbie [21:41] we've all been one at some point ;) [21:45] whats the way to register
