seb128jdstrand, it feels a bit weird as a rt tracker, are we going to ask every snap developer to open a post there to be able to auto connect to the right interfaces?06:44
seb128sorry, "re didrocks" I meant06:45

andyrockgood morning!09:02

didrocksahah, named from the shape ofc!09:04
andyrockhey seb12809:05
* didrocks is hungry now09:05
andyrockdidrocks: btw for the favorites issues09:07
andyrocka proper fix would require too much work09:07
didrocksand no quick workaround possible? If so, we can just ship 2 desktop files, it's fine, with OnlyShowIn=09:08
andyrockI tried quick workarounds09:08
didrocksand not really good?09:09
andyrockbut the model is really linked with that setting09:09
didrocksok09:09
didrocksdon't bother I would say09:09
didrocks2 desktop files it is for now09:09
didrocks(we already have others)09:09
didrocksand tweaking the visibility based on DE09:09
andyrockkk09:10
didrocksthanks for looking into it andyrock ;)09:10
andyrocksorry :D09:10
didrocksI hope you are!!! ;-)09:10
andyrocknp!09:10
didrocksflexiondotorg: if you are using zeitgeist-core or indicator-application (the service part) in Mate, i'm going to remove the lib dep/recommends on them, you should thus add them to your seed if nothing is pulling them anymore09:12
didrocksfor unity, I'm going to add them as recommends to the unity-session package09:12
seb128andyrock, thanks for taking the time to poke a bit at the favorite problem, don't worry more about it it's not worth spending too much work09:13
didrocksespecially as we have another workaround giving the same results to our users09:13
seb128right09:13
duflukoza, actually in reinventing the wheel, the main difference between ours and dep14 is that I failed to notice you only need one branch for pristine-tar. So our repo grows faster. We could fix that with a proper 'pristine-tar' branch starting with 5.46 onward09:22
dufluAlthough that's also a _bad_ idea because our own pristine-tar branch would then be different to Debian's09:24
flexiondotorgdidrocks Thanks for the heads up. Nothing is using zeitgeist in Ubuntu MATE.09:47
jbichabut the 2 desktop files thing doesn't make sense either to me10:39
jbichasee LP: #1623748 for gedit, we have NoShowIn for the org.gnome .desktop instead of for the old name10:40
ubot5Launchpad bug 1623748 in gnome-pkg-tools (Ubuntu) "Use non-compatibility .desktop files by default" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/162374810:40
jbichaso if we're not going to use the new name, why are we renaming a .desktop that we don't have to?10:40
jbichagood morning10:41
didrocksI'm either for removing the new one or using the same technic than for other, just decide between the 2 of you jbicha, Laney :)11:07
didrocks(the only drawback with removing the new name is that people now were transitioned to the new name in the ubuntu session, and so, they will lose it, but it's still an alpha)11:07
didrocksand good morning jbicha11:07
didrocksjbicha: I'm updating latest rhythmbox branch with your uplaod11:38
jdstrandseb128: that is the process, yes. the reason why is there is a voting process and the people who vote all look at the forum11:50

seb128jdstrand, so we expect any snap producer to use the forum as a way to do those requests? isn't that going to spam it?12:19
didrocksjibel: on a new install, do you have the ubuntu software icon or gnome software one? (for the ubuntu session, not wayland one)12:47
* didrocks is puzzled, G-S is reading the correct .desktop file with correct name "ubuntu software", but the icon isn't this desktop file icon but org.gnome.Software.png12:48
didrocksI have to reload G-S so that it takes icon file change into account12:49
didrocksargh, found it13:00
didrocksand I think I understand now why some people just said "works on a new installed"13:00
seb128new installer?13:01
didrocksno, it's just that the Icon[] was translated13:02
didrocksand point to the original name13:02
didrocksand so, I guess people trying with just "en" got the default icon13:02
didrockswhich was our ubuntu one13:02
didrocksI guess unity wasn't loading the localized version13:03
seb128translating icon names ftw13:03
didrocksyep!13:03
seb128but that doesn't make sense13:03
didrocksIcon=ubuntusoftware13:04
didrocksIcon[fr]=org.gnome.Software13:04
didrocksfor instance13:04
seb128you mean the french translators translated "ubuntu-software" to "org.gnome.gnome-software"?13:04
didrocksI don't think so13:04
seb128weird13:04
didrocksdebian/rules is copying the upstream desktop file13:04
didrocksand sedding13:04
seb128isn't pkgbinarymangler supposed to strip inline translations?13:04
didrocksthe file is installed in /usr/share/ubuntu/applications/13:05
didrockshum, even the upstream file in /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Software.desktop isn't stripped13:05
didrocksanyway, at least, found it13:06
seb128yeah13:06
seb128now to find the correct fix13:06
didrocksfirst, checking it's loading the correct size and svg version13:07
didrocksyep, it picks the scalable version, nice13:08
didrocks(and few! ;))13:08
* didrocks just changes the regexp to pick any Icon[*]= alongside Icon=13:09
seb128what regexp?13:12
didrocksthe one generating the desktop file under ubuntu/ in gnome-software13:14
kenvandineseb128, i'll fill out the autoconnect request13:15
seb128kenvandine, thanks13:15
kenvandineseb128, 2 more snaps in the store pending manual review :)13:18
kenvandinegnome-calculator and gnome-sudoku13:18
seb128nice13:19
seb128didrocks, btw did you figure out your issue with the calendar showing the wrong date format for you?13:27
didrocksseb128: no, I didn't look further to what we discussed13:28
didrocksnothing looks odd in my settings13:28
seb128k13:29
seb128still curious13:29
didrocksI am as well13:29
didrocksdidn't look at dconf13:29
didrocksbut:13:29
didrocks[org/gnome/desktop/calendar]13:29
didrocksshow-weekdate=false13:29
didrocks[org/gtk/settings/file-chooser]13:29
didrocksdate-format='regular'13:29
didrocksjust resetted, the first one was already false13:30
seb128yeah, I doubt it's any of those13:30
didrocksand same for second one13:31
didrocksnothing else… I'm really puzzled13:31
didrocksok, software now shows correct icon13:32
seb128great13:36
kenvandineanyone else experiencing rendering issues with apps that use gtksourceview under gnome-shell?  http://imgur.com/a/DJOLb13:58
kenvandinei just verified it doesn't happen under gnome classic13:58
kenvandinewhich seems weird to me13:59
kenvandinehey willcooke14:00
Laneytransparent background?14:00
LaneyI've heard of that before14:00
kenvandinesame happens in gnome-calculator14:00
Laneythink there's a bug about it possibly on gedit14:00
willcookeo/14:00
LaneyI tried but I never made it happen14:00
Laneyso, since you have it there ... :-)14:00
kenvandinenot happening for me on zesty14:00
kenvandineindeed :)14:01
kenvandinehas to be gtksourceview since i'm seeing it on both gedit and calculator14:01
kenvandinemaybe only on intel14:01

ubot5Ubuntu bug 1620806 in ubuntu-themes (Ubuntu) "gedit edit window is transparent when using Ambiance and Radiance themes" [Undecided,Incomplete]14:05
kenvandineindeed switching themes fixes it14:07
kenvandineand removing .xinputrc and restarting fixed it14:13
kenvandinethat's annoying14:13
kenvandineit's not really transparent, it's like rendering artifacts because moving it keeps the artifacts intact, just drags them around14:14
seb128fun14:16
seb128xim and theme interaction issue?14:16
ricotzdidrocks, hi, https://launchpadlibrarian.net/329681136/zeitgeist_1.0-0ubuntu2_1.0-0ubuntu3.diff.gz ?14:35
didrockswth? The bzr branch obviously got it…14:38
didrockshum, removed it, anyway, let's reupload…14:38
didrocksthanks for noticing!14:39
didrockswould have picked up anyway once the seed list would have refreshed14:39
ricotzdidrocks, heh, more coffee14:41
didrocksricotz: stash changes and bzr unhappy :)14:42
didrocksor too more focused on making the other side of the change on unity-session and not ubuntu-session this time ;)14:42
didrocksok, debdiff is happy and uploaded with -v14:43
ricotzgit ftw14:43

oscar___Hello! I am currently trying out Ubuntu 17.10 on my desktop and I am having some trouble with suspend/resume. Any idea how to trouble shoot this? Logs files? I had the same issues on my Arch Linux installation and it has gotten better with every new kernel release. My hardware is farly dated(sandy bridge era) butt my graphics card is new(AMD Polaris 470). The issue I am having is that sometimes, not every time, the computer won't14:58
oscar___ go fully to sleep. Fans stay running but the screen is dark. I can't ssh into the computer at this point. It does not happen every time, only when I have gone through a couple of suspend/resume cycles. As said, I am not sure this is Ubuntu specific or a kernel issue but I thought I'd mention it anyway.14:58
seb128oscar___, hey, try #ubuntu for user issues15:04
oscar___seb128: Oh, okay. I thought this was the correct place becouse of this: https://insights.ubuntu.com/2017/07/19/ubuntu-artful-desktop-july-shakedown-call-for-testing/15:06
oscar___I'll try the other channel. Thanks!15:06
seb128oscar___, thanks for mentioning but it doesn't seem much desktopish15:06
seb128as you said probably kernel15:07
oscar___ok!15:07

ricotzchrisccoulson, hi, which rustc version are you targeting to backport?18:08
sarnoldricotz: from a currently-underway build https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-security/+archive/ubuntu/rust-updates/+build/1310734318:22
sarnold1.17 is up next18:22
ricotzsarnold, I realize that, but what is the target?18:23
sarnoldricotz: I understand 1.17 is the version required for this week's firefox, so 1.18 will have to wait for later18:23
ricotzwhile firefox trunk (56) will likely start to require 1.1918:23
ricotzright, 1.17 is enough for 5518:24
ricotzI mean 1.15.1 is enough for 55 and currently 1.17 for 5618:25
ricotzsarnold, what do you mean with "this week's firefox"?18:29
sarnoldricotz: I don't pay enough attention to know when the next firefox is coming18:29
ricotzsarnold, ok18:32
