diddledanif you're cynical about facebook yes12:59
* zmoylan-pi fits both those circles on the venn diagram...13:00
MooDooi liked it, but it's a big dig and google/facebook/ms everyone lol13:01
=== SuperMat1 is now known as SuperMatt
smittixheh, watched that last night.13:39
smittixI thought it was crap to be honest.13:39
diddledanit's a good thought experiment IMO13:40
MooDoosmittix: howdy doody13:40
smittixI thought it was a little too over the top with the ideas.13:41
smittixI get what they were trying to achieve in the movie but...13:41
smittixMooDoo: Hey d00d13:41
MooDooalthough i'm just starting season 2 of Game Of Thrones13:41
smittixHeh, I started watching that earlier this week.13:42
smittixI have that and The Wire on the go. Then Netflix kindly informs me Shooter Season 2 has started so I have an episode of that too.13:42
* smittix misses Silicon Valley13:43
MooDoodiplo: how's the nagios server going?13:48
diploI'd already done most of my mine MooDoo, adding newer checks recently like checking raid cards14:31
MooDoodiplo: just playing about check_nt for network desktop bandwidth :D14:37
diploNot used that, will have a tinker14:41
diploIt's been f'ing manic for the last 2 days, I'm ready to quit!14:41
MooDooaw no!14:41
diplofloods have caused chaos all over SE chaos14:44
MooDooyeah got a friend in the lizard that got hit14:47
diploI'm honestly close to a melt down today, rarely feel like this, a lot of stuff I'm doing is basic support and I really don't like doing this stuff anymore, I'm paid to much to do it :D14:58
diploI recently installed check_mk as well, have you used it Moodoo ?15:00
diploah he's left :D15:00
Azelphurdiplo: I use nagios/checkmk15:20
Azelphureven wrote a custom check or three :)15:20
=== Oli`` is now known as Oli
diploWhats the benefit of it15:24
Azelphurdiplo: you can install the check_mk agent on remote machines and add them to be monitored very easily15:24
Azelphurand adding a custom check is as simple as dropping a script in a folder15:25
diploI use check_by_ssh for that already15:27
diploI'll take a look, only reason I installed it was I saw so many posts for it15:27
Azelphurdiplo: yea, honestly I did it that way because I have a friend that knows nagios, and he did it that way too.15:27
diplo:) - I'm interested though! Will have a looksy when its not so rubbish here15:28
* Dave whispers "prometheus"15:46
diddledanI'm sorry, Dave, I can't do that15:56
diploAnyone alive, if so, do you knowanything about dnscache ?20:54
diploGot a server that is hitting 70-80% cpu20:54
diploJust need some idea where to investigate20:54
diddledanthis is twisted: https://twitter.com/Lyraull/status/88770131628125798621:08
diddledanmeow!21:08
diddledandiplo: is your dnscache open to the world? if so you might be being used as an amplifier in a DDoS?21:09
diploI'm thinking that, trying to work it out right now21:12
diplonot a normal server21:12
diploSME Server21:12
diploNothing is done normally :)21:12
diddledan:-)21:12
diddledanSME. I haven't heard that name in a while21:12
* diddledan goes to check them out to refresh the braincells21:13
diploApparently private21:16
diplo    access=private21:16
diploNot sure what it's being used for on the box, stopping it still allows email to work, if it's on it pegs the cpu and stops dns working21:17
diddledanhmm21:29
diploWell I've got email working, I'll fix it tomorrow when I'm more awake :D21:31
diploIt's catching up with 24 hours worth ofemails, so is being hammered currently21:31
zmoylan-pithose nigerian prince communiques must get through!!21:32
diplohaha, there is ALOT of spam coming through21:32
diploThe customer doesn't know how to check their spam folder21:32
diddledanlovespam21:32
* zmoylan-pi always has a few tins in the press21:33
diplowhen I synced it over ( their old box was donkeys years old ) his .junkmail folder had 28ks worth21:33
diddledanif you're receiving a LOT of email then the spam filter might be killing the DNS21:33
diploMaybe21:33
diploI'll reenable once it slows down, see if that fixes it21:33
diddledanfor things like SPF records and the like21:33
diploThe guy who set this up didn't do an overly great job21:33
diploFirst time I've had a chance to look is my own time :/21:34
diddledan:-(21:34
diddledansadface21:34
zmoylan-piit's working, at last, sign here, run for the door... :-)21:34
diplohttps://wiki.contribs.org/DB_Variables_Configuration#SpamAssassin21:40
diploWant to know what that means21:40
diploBut finding it hard :)21:40
diploAnd getting there... another issue22:13
diplospamassassin couldn't start, needed to run sa-update22:13
diplonow transaction timeis 4 secs instead of 1422:13
diploRight, done. Bed time :) gn all22:30
NET||abusehey guys, i've just had to re-install my home server (root / disk failure) so i've just gone from 16.04 to 17.04, i have 4x6TB disks that were btrfs setup, i'm not 100% sure how i had them origionally setup, about 2 years on the go since i set them up.22:43
NET||abuseso i did blkid /dev/sda  and i set /etc/fstab   as    UUID=5df047bb-72b8-4876-8db6-e5301bcab1ac /mnt/data btrfs defaults  0       022:43
NET||abuseso is there anything i should do before i resume using the array of disks?22:44
NET||abusei did   btrfs fi show /dev/sda     and it shows the 4 disks with their btrfs usage, which is in line with what i think they should be at, about 30% used22:45
NET||abuseso remounting them, should i do any updating? from ubuntu 16.04 btrfs  to 17.04 btrfs?22:45
