LangjanHello everyone09:58
vulcanHeyo :)10:01
vulcanCrosspost from slack: Anyone using megasync on ubuntu 16.04? Mine seems to have stopped syncing in the last month or two. Says that everything is fine though, but there are discrepancies between local folders and what shows via browser10:01
LangjanHi vulcan 10:01
LangjanAny advice on this output in 16.04 Unity 64 bit? W: https://download.01.org/gfx/ubuntu/16.04/main/dists/xenial/InRelease: Signature by key 09D6EF97BFB38E916EF060E756A3DEF863961D39 uses weak digest algorithm (SHA1)10:04
Kiloshi Langjan and others10:07
inetprohi vulcan 10:20
inetprofirst time I even hear about megasync10:21
vulcan:O10:21
vulcan50gb free cloud storage that's officially E2E10:21
vulcanMega.nz's been around for like ages(5 years or so) inetpro :D10:22
inetprolooks interesting10:23
vulcanThere was a whole scandal with some US guys dropping into NZ to arrest the guy, and then him being released, and then him selling out the company, the E2E encryption was apparently not10:23
vulcanBut for random media storage it's decent. Compared to dropbox sharing though it's terrible10:23
vulcanI use it as a Media backup archive for some scout stuff, mainly photos etc. That I want backed up, but don't want to pay for :joy:10:24
vulcanShould probably swap to just using glacier at some point though tbh10:24
vulcanSidenote, it seems like a full purge of the app did the trick, it's resyncing again \o/10:25
inetprovulcan: cool, thanks for the heads up10:26
paddatrapperI also use it for backup storage. Though I gpg encrypt it before uploading because I don't trust their encryption 10:26
vulcanYeah, i don't really trust it either. Just use it for photos and stuff though so I don't really care, wouldn't put anything sensitive on it unencrypted though, too many scandals and whatnot10:27
LangjanHello Kilos- 11:54
Kilos-hi Langjan struggling a bit but ok13:20
Kilos-here taras latest https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3MJslxJO-Y13:20
Kilos-think it was linkin parks before he hung himself13:21
Kilos-i had never heard of linkin park till just no13:21
Kilos-now13:21
=== Kilos- is now known as Kilos
inetproLangjan: https://mybroadband.co.za/news/internet/221408-sars-efiling-will-move-away-from-adobe-flash.html13:32
inetproSARS according to the above link, "has adopted HTML5 as the standard for its electronic channels going forward"13:33
inetprogood news that, now only a matter of time until we see it, hopefully 13:34
MaNIwow miracles do happen13:51
andrewlsdvulcan: you involved with Scouts?14:00
MaNIhopefully the transition doesn't cost us taxpayers several trillion rands and end up a complete flop14:02
andrewlsdpaddatrapper: I've used similar storage in the past.   I use Ubuntu's encrypted "Private" folder which uses ecryptfs. and then I sync the .Private folder 14:05
andrewlsdso that the data that gets uploaded is pre-encrypted14:06
vulcanandrewlsd, Yep, can confirm14:15
andrewlsdcool vulcan. me too.  (western cape, table bay district)14:26
vulcanHeyyyy. I'm TS at 2nd Rondebosch, Liesbeek14:29
andrewlsdI'm ATS 1st Edgemead14:35
andrewlsdyou guys using Scouts.Digital?14:36
vulcanNope. Tried it and gave up, built my own one a year or so ago which I still much prefer, but planning on building a proper solution by the end of the year14:36
vulcanIf the system doesn't give the controls to the users (Scouters), it's never gonna scale. He's so busy firefighting that he doesn't have time for dev work. Plus it doesn't feel like a proper custom solution tbh14:38
vulcanPage loads on mobile are so painful14:38
vulcanTo me a solid SPA running on react + PWA vibes makes sooooo much more sense. Even my current thing which is just like 2 weeks worth of painful pure php code is way faster than S.D 14:39
andrewlsdvulcan: would love to see an open source solution.14:40
vulcanYeah, that's the idea14:40
andrewlsdimho OSS would be appropriate for scouts.14:40
vulcanimho non-OSS is inappropriate for scouts :D14:41
andrewlsd^ agreed!14:41
vulcanIve gone down the rabbit hole of national though. On the IT committee thing, but it's such a farce14:41
andrewlsdI looked at the previous Scouts software which was Windows-only and although the dev was nice about it, it was a non-starter for me being "single-user" windows only software.14:42
andrewlsd... looked at ScoutSheet (a google spreadsheet)14:42
vulcanI mean, Paddy knew that S.D was being rolled out to WC. I was never even involved in talking about it :|14:42
andrewlsdand ended up at Scouts.D... 14:42
vulcanYeah, Nigel's decent14:42
* vulcan suggests we take this OT convo to pm14:42
andrewlsdN was definitely pleasant to deal with.14:42
* andrewlsd is happy to pm.14:43
andrewlsdCheers all. See you again soon15:08
