[00:50] Hello everyone, I'm having an issue with Lubuntu 17.04.. Long story short, when the graphical session is started manually, there is an error with message bus and things don't work anymore (in example, the logout menu does not appear, and any key shortcut won't work). Everything worked fine in 16.04 [00:51] I tested it also directly from Live, on three different machines. Same result: init 3, init 5, Lubuntu broken.. on all three, with nothing changed from default. [00:55] Have been struggling with this issue for a week now, if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. [00:57] problem is you're asking for something that's really a unique use case [00:57] no one is testing with the graphical session being started manually [00:58] another thing to consider is that the init system is systemd so that may have some effect on things [00:58] Loading a system in text mode, and launching graphics at a second time if needed.. it's not that unheard of [00:58] nope, it's not [00:59] but it's not something we are testing [00:59] you might also want to check if ubuntu is having the same problems [00:59] Yeah, I'm not complaining about the bug slipping through. That can be understood. [01:00] lubuntu has the same core (including the init system) [01:00] I tried with Gnome and I did not have that issue. [01:01] might ask gnome what they did then :) [01:01] also, clarifying your problem (what's the error?) would be helpful. [01:01] i would suggest writing up a bug report and go from there [01:02] "Unable to get connection to the message bus session" [01:02] what is reporting the error? [01:02] it's just a random message that shows up on its own? === Lupo is now known as WoLf [01:04] sorry, lost internet for a moment. [01:05] this is what I get, as the session is started. [01:05] http://i.imgur.com/EhjcmTV.png [01:05] it's /999/ on a live environment. [01:05] did you look at the logs? [01:06] especially the lxsession ones (which, if i remember, hide in ~/.cache) [01:06] I'm not sure at which log to look at, sorry.. [01:07] like i said, file a bug [01:07] that way we can diagnose this a little more [01:08] Alright, I'll try to do that =) [01:09] WoLf: you might want to try the suggestions for changing runlevels for systemd, e.g. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Systemd [01:11] But would that be something that changed from 16.04 to 17? I am going to read it, thanks! At least it's something else to try.. I'm regretting updating my system =( [01:15] Just tested with systemctl, same result. === FrankF1 is now known as FrankF [01:51] wxl sorry to bother you again.. Under which project should I file the bug? can't see anything relevant, lubuntu-next? [02:59] WoLf: yes [03:54] tsimonq2: Thanks, yes I ended up filing it there. https://bugs.launchpad.net/lubuntu-next/+bug/1707100 [03:54] Launchpad bug 1707100 in Lubuntu Next "Manual change to graphical runlevel unable to get the session bus" [Undecided,New] [04:46] is lubuntu-next a topic in here? [04:46] or is there a new channel [04:56] n-iCe: Yep, it's a topic [04:57] n-iCe: Well, technically not, because we don't support it yet... but hey, why not? :) [04:58] awesome [04:58] I'm downloading it [04:58] do you use it? [04:58] have you? [05:00] n-iCe: I use it, yeah [05:01] awesome! [05:01] Gonna install it, I'm moving it to my usb [05:01] 1.5GB [05:01] Is a bug I guess [05:29] Ok [05:29] Indont have internet [05:29] Lol [05:29] I dont see network manager [05:30] Was it replaced? [05:45] ???? [05:52] Heelloooowww [05:52] Where is the new network manageeer [05:58] n-iCe: That's a known bug [05:59] n-iCe: That's why we mark these things as experimental :P [05:59] n-iCe: Regardless, you have dhcpcd installed that you can work with :) [05:59] Never used it before [05:59] Also takes 7 minutes to boot haha [06:00] Just counted it [06:00] And it is already installed in hdd [06:00] Maybe is not ready for me lol [06:01] n-iCe: Maybe not yet. [06:01] Looks great though [06:02] Solved the internet thing [06:02] With iwconfig [06:03] Cool cool [06:05] Actually is conneted [06:05] But ping does not work [06:06] Oh, weird [06:06] Dhcpcd wlo1 [06:06] How do i detect if worked [06:07] Dhclient [06:07] Is what i wanted i think [06:11] Nop [06:11] Let me check resolv.conf [06:12] Dammit [06:12] Is connected [06:12] But no internet [09:45] tsimonq2: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/artful/alpha-2/ right? [09:45] is there any mirror for it [09:46] i tried the torrent but takes time too long to be downloaded [10:59] I have Lubuntu minimal installation. How do I disable screen to go powersafe mode and be always on? === dzho_ is now known as dzho [11:46] xset dpms? [12:14] I'm new to this zone - prior apologies if I ask "old stuff" - my problem is I have an old Dell 32-bit laptop and run Ubuntu 17.04. When Ubuntu goes 64 bit only I want to switch to Lubuntu (32 bit) but don't want [12:15] to have major problems with my data. I don't care about the apps, I'll find alternates but I don't want to lose my data. Can I upgrade Ubuntu 17.04/17.10 to Lubuntu 17.10/18.04? [12:22] brenth: technically yes? But you should always take backups first. [12:22] you must install 'Lubuntu-desktop' package then update & upgrade ... [12:22] ^ that as well [13:00] The word "technically" seems replete with added implications? [13:02] I've been working with an Ubuntu 17.04 VM - I tried to upgrade by booting the Lubuntu 17.04 iso. That worked ... sort of in that I installed Lubuntu in a 2nd [13:03] partition and in parallel to Ubuntu ... so not exactly a solution [14:12] Is there a way to turn off my laptop's touchpad in Lubuntu 17.04? === IRCGate23448 is now known as jk^ [14:41] I found out, but thanks anyway. Just typed "synclient TouchpadOff=1" and it turned off my touchpad. === plaindave is now known as PlainDave [16:32] exit [16:32] quit [20:28] Hello. How can I switch Lubuntu's interface much similar to OSX' one? [20:28] find an appropriate theme [20:28] i don't know of one because i've never wanted one :) [20:28] you can look on box-look [20:31] Ok I look [20:35] Might want to also take a look at https://plus.google.com/+DavidBaileyDevilishDB/posts/9uDNg3xtUuN [20:49] Sorry, does anyone know where I can find numix dark theme? === ikonia_ is now known as ikonia
