[19:13] most likely cdrom or sr0 [19:15] Uniform CD ROM revision 3.20 [19:15] sr0 returns a string I'm not familiar with but I'll paste it here [19:15] use pastebinit please [19:16] kk one moment [19:20] https://pastebin.com/9NizCMpS [19:24] you got some kind of weird acpi error [19:24] i doubt it's related but possibly [19:25] other than that, looks normal [19:25] I've had some hard fails recently also but Idk why, [19:25] anything in syslog? [19:25] seemed to be related to having too many chrome instances running, but w/ an i5 and 4gb ram i couldn't figure out why [19:26] / var/ syslog [19:26] yep [19:26] also everything looks normal in lshw regarding the drive? [19:28] especially the configuration line [19:28] does it show nodisc even though you have a disc in there? [19:28] not fam w/ lshw [19:28] !info lshw [19:28] lshw (source: lshw): information about hardware configuration. In component main, is standard. Version 02.18-0.1ubuntu3 (zesty), package size 270 kB, installed size 804 kB [19:28] sudo lshw -C disk [19:29] status = nodisk [19:29] :'( [19:29] this person had some sort of region issue. not sure that's a thing or not. never had that problem https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1057822.html [19:29] is there a way to force that [19:31] Under software updates > Other software, [19:31] i have an unchecked option for Cdrom: [19:32] should I check that an run sudo apt update && upgrade? [19:32] what does the option actually say? i think that's related to the original install media [19:34] cdrom:[Lubuntu 17.04 _Zesty_Zapus_- Release amd64(20170412)]/zesty main multiverse restricted universe [19:34] yteah that's all it is. irrelevant [19:35] this may be a dumb question, but are you sure it works? did you try non-blank media? maybe an audio disc? [19:36] i've thrown in a dvd that's authored at the factory (the Tuxedo w/ Jackie Chan or some non-sense) and a Win10 installer disk I authored on a different laptop, [19:36] both are recognized, and the gui launches the autoplay [19:37] I know the disc drive works otherwise b/c I installed lubuntu from disc [19:37] additionally, I had this issue before and ran dist-upgrade and it worked for the last week or so [22:28] First time install of lubuntu for a Plex server on ASUS hardware. System seems to work fine and I get HDMI hi res output from the HDMI connector, but no audio. Is there some setting I am missing? [23:15] well, ubuntu-next did not work for me haha [23:15] anyway, Im back in lubuntu 17.04 [23:44] I'm back, all installed.
