In Kubuntu I have no write permissions after it is mounted, how do I fix that? [16:32] tcostigl, if that usb is formatted ext4: chown $USER:$USER /dev/sdX [16:32] where sdX is the usb device, you can check that with sudo parted -l [16:33] So I have to do it for every new device I plug in? [16:33] if you format it ext4, maybe yes [16:34] if it is fat32 or ntfs, you should not have to do anything [16:34] That doesn't sound quite right.. [16:35] Okay, it is ext4, but Ubuntu was somehow handling it automatically [16:35] correct me if i am wrong, krytarik [16:38] tcostigl: Is it also automounted in Kubuntu? [16:38] krytarik, yes it is automounted [16:39] Check and tell us the output of "mount" on both? [16:47] http://paste.ubuntu.com/25284596/ [16:48] That is Kubuntu. I can't do it on Ubuntu [16:49] 'tis gone forever [16:51] Maybe when you use the disk formatting tool in Ubuntu it chown's to your user after formatting. I formatted with Kubuntu's partition manager, it did not do that. [18:51] I'm having mouse problems with KUbuntu 17.04 [18:51] The mouse cursor moves fine, but the buttons on the mouse don't work [18:52] This is a fresh installation [18:54] KB navigation? [18:54] Yeah, it sux [18:54] Quantos, gpu ? [18:55] An old piece of ratshit HD 4670 [18:55] :P [18:55] Getting a GT 1030 at the end of the month though [18:58] Quantos, sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-radeon [18:58] Okay [18:59] return is that it's already the newest version 1:7.9.0-0ubuntu1 [19:00] hey guys, I have a question: After I press the meta key I can select a window with alt+1-9, but only on my primary monitor. Can I expand that somehow to my secondary screen? [19:01] I can't find any settings for that... [19:01] Quantos, ok then sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade , there may be some upgrades that will fix your mouse problem [19:02] I ran all the updates but I'll try that [19:03] Quantos, hope you have the power supply to handle the nvidia GT1030 [19:03] It's found more [19:03] Heeee [19:03] all 30W of it? [19:04] I'm getting a Titanium SeaSonic 1050W for it [19:04] Think that will leave me enough headroom? [19:04] cheyup :-) [19:05] Okay, it's finished, logging off, I"ll be back to let you know [19:08] Blueskaj No success [19:08] fradeco, sorry dunno muh about multi monitor setups [19:10] Quantos, bummer, mouse settings is something I've never had to deal with either. [19:10] Blueskaj thx, this is realy bugging me... ;) [19:11] I did discover that if I go ctrl+alt+F1 and run startx manually that the mouse is okay though [19:11] That's strange, and I have no idea why I tried that [19:11] Just kind of a pain in the arse though [19:12] Quantos, well the something isn't loading properly in the startup, at least you have a work around [19:12] Yeah, for now, I wish I knew what it was [19:13] some systemd ctl daemon maybe [19:13] Do you see any potential issues with my workaround? [19:13] Or am I safe to use it for a while until solved [19:14] not at all , I did that for a while when my DE wouldn't load without manually starting X from the VT/TY until a kernel upgrade came down the pipe [19:14] Okay, thanks man [19:15] njp Quantos [19:22] fradeco, yes ducasse is the guy to ask over at #ubuntu , he uses 3 monitors , but he also runs a window manager /i3 [19:24] BluesKaj, thx I thought it is just a simple setting somewhere, but i can't find any documentation for that... just discovered this option by chance [19:25] and now it is really bugging me that i have to use the mouse to select a window on my second monitor [19:25] do you run kde/plasma fradeco? [19:26] no gnome [19:28] ohhh ups wrong channel [19:28] kde/plasma is differnt than gnome in graphics [19:29] i am still a little confused by irc chat... just installed a client for the first time === clone99 is now known as SimAloo === me is now known as Guest32713
