=== faLUCE is now known as Viderunt_Omnes === Viderunt_Omnes is now known as faLUCE [03:47] is there a way to prevent hidden entries from showing up in kde app launcher search? [03:47] also how can i view the .hidden section seen in this screenshot: https://forum.manjaro.org/uploads/default/original/2X/a/a9ae587eafce07862fa4266e49ad4b4d7d4ab246.png === Guest58400 is now known as lordievader [07:46] Good morning [07:55] hello guys I need little help with cron job mail [07:55] anyone here [09:09] Hiyas all [09:10] BluesKaj: hello :) longg time no see :) [09:11] hi hegemon8 , how's things? [09:12] well switched to solus..., my amarok is dead (projeect i mean...) [09:12] and Yourself BluesKaj? [09:13] good here hegemon8, up a bit early this morning, but otherwise ok :-) [09:14] 10:14 am here BluesKaj [09:14] should get a coffee :) [09:14] i mean i should :) [09:14] 5:14AM here [09:15] already on my first cup [09:16] hegemon8, what's solus, btw? [09:17] a new distro (OS) [09:17] managed to jump on kde there [09:20] https://solus-project.com/ [09:21] it has kde available?, I notice a lot of gnome apps in their list on the website [09:23] well, not sure plasma iso is still out, but i've installed budgie spin, and added from software center all kde stuff, then removed gnome stuff with smile :) [09:23] a* [09:23] hmm, budgie [09:24] I see.ok sounds viable [09:24] yes, its good, just well, i'm a kde fanboy, plus budgie is going the Qt way in some near future [09:26] well, I'd prefer budhie to gnome or mate [09:26] budgie [09:27] BluesKaj: it has some gnome stufff currently, but if i can make it be plasma, i'm a happy camper :) [09:28] right === himcesjf_ is now known as himcesjf [10:47] hello, what maybe the reason that I can not login to kde with a specific user. The credentials are accepted, but then kubuntu hangs endless in the login [10:49] with the other usernames, sddm has no problem to login [10:49] very strange [10:50] first I thought it is related to some bad config files in the user directory, but the login hangs even with an empty dir [12:04] Aison- have you tried logging in from a terminal? You might get helpful error messages there. You could also check the log files in /var/log [12:58] hey :) [13:00] hey john85 [13:01] hkw are you? [13:01] better than my typing i hope [13:02] heh, I'm fine john85, but my typing not so much as well :-) [13:02] how about you ? [13:04] im good thanks [13:05] have you any experience with wine? [13:05] ot much ...it was many yrs ago [13:05] not [13:10] back [13:10] sorry, connection died [13:10] it was stranger than that...the name of the connection has changed [13:12] the ethernet or wifi connection? [13:12] wifi [13:13] could be the systemd naming convention at work there [13:14] ye [13:14] anyway...wine...i was considering installing it myself [13:15] i suppose i have nothing to lose really [13:15] what do you plan to run in it? [13:16] arduino IDE and open office [13:17] i know both have linux versions, but they come in package files, and as far as I know there is no quick and easy install [13:18] its not as simple as clicking on the installation file and just letting the installer do its thing is it [13:21] what about libreoffice , it installs as a suite [13:24] or apache openoffice https://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html [13:26] libre office is ok, but prefer open office [13:28] ok..ill try the open office download [13:29] if i get it working, then i will attempt the Arduino IDE too [13:30] yeah, afaik , it's best to avoid wine..it's usually justa stopgap measure for energencies etc [13:32] have you heard of Kolibri OS? [13:32] i have been thinking of giving it a try on a really old laptop of mine that doesn't matter if i screw it up [13:33] no, but why Kolibri [13:33] its written completely in assembly language making it very fast === alexander is now known as Guest33027 [13:35] dont think it has the same following as linux though, so unlikely to be developed into a serious OS [13:36] http://kolibrios.org/en/index [13:37] wont have many apps, i know, but i am a little curious just to see what it is like [13:41] heh, I get a security alert in chrome clicking thqat url [13:41] :( [13:41] sorry [13:44] im sure the site is safe though [13:44] np, I managed it with good ol' konkueror [13:45] my backup browser for difficult websites [13:46] err konqueror :-) [13:47] ah ok [13:47] interesting OS [13:49] might have to install a VM to run it on my old machine though, since there is no option to boot from USB and the CD drive dont work [13:50] or just run it in a VM on this [13:51] I bout a cheap usb powered portable cd drive on amazon ...took 6 weeks to arrive here from China tho [13:51] bought [13:52] works great [13:52] ye, things can take a while from amazon, esp if you go for cheap or free postage oprion, which i do [13:53] yeah, I'm a retired guy on fixed income so I shop judiciously :-) [13:54] what did you used to do? [13:56] amazon can be fast here, they have a big warehouse in Toronto, 400KM away from me [13:56] I was a enviro-tech in a pulp&paper mill [13:56] an [13:57] tested effluent from the processes, air and water quality etc [13:58] i work in electronics, but am in between jobs at the moment, volunteering at a charity shop [13:59] I was gonna ask if you were , due to the arduino mention [13:59] thats more of a hobby [14:00] i have always been into electronics since, I could talk [14:00] I used to be sn audio hobbyist of sorts ...many yrs ago [14:01] * BluesKaj nods ...cool :-) [14:02] i wish now i had studied programming instead of electronics, since thats where the momey seems to be [14:06] i have to go..been nice chatting [14:06] bye for now [14:06] don't think programing/coding etc would have ever interested me ...seems very tedious to me [14:06] solus is the best distro btw [14:06] ye didnt really interest me at the time either [14:07] there's no best for everyone, it's only best for you asafniv [14:07] anyways...got to go [14:07] ok , take care john85 [14:07] this was 50% satire [14:08] asafniv, satire is difficult o express in chat text :-) === enclude1 is now known as enclude === himcesjf is now known as him-cesjf [19:33] himcesjf was removed by: himcesjf === juboxi is now known as jubo2 [20:10] Good day everyone!
