If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience [07:57] i have problem coneecting on it [07:57] be aware this channel is quite idle around now [07:57] * hateball has to attend a meeting [07:57] *connecting vpnclient on lubuntu when i connect to vpn ether server [09:14] so [09:14] this time people are sleeping? [09:14] ;) [09:37] nhatminh1209: well it's a small channel and it's sleeping time for americans [09:37] nhatminh1209: You could try asking in #ubuntu as well, might be people using Lubuntu there as well [09:41] thanks hateball [09:42] i know it's sleeping time in america [09:42] thanks for helping [09:42] ;) [21:40] Pretty new here. I have an HP 210-1000 netbook that I put Lubuntu on. I can't get it to connect to the internet. I've tried connecting a LAN cable and it still does not appear to recognise it. [21:43] I had Ubuntu on it and it worked fine. It was running a bit slow since it's not very powerful so I decided to try Lubuntu. Any ideas? [22:04] hey is there anyone that may be able to help me out? im having problems logging in to my normal ubuntu account. i can only get on the guest account, when i try to log on my normal account it gets stuck on the purple screen [22:09] Jay_: have you tried in the linux virtual console? [22:09] Ctrl-Alt-F1 (hold all three down simultaneously) [22:09] you can switch amongst them with Alt-Fn for values of n=1,2,3,... [22:10] if you can log in that way you won't get a GUI but you can see if it is a username/password problem or just a GUI problem [22:12] thanks for the response, ok i'll try it out. but i dont think thats its a password problem [22:20] Hiya im back i tryed the virtual console but it wasnt letting me log in. it asks for a username first and then my password. i know my password but would my username be just what my account name is when i bootup and sign in? [22:20] sorry im not very knowledgable about linux [22:25] hi back again sorry i keep accidently resetting [22:30] does anyone think they could help me out. right now im on my comp on my guest account because on my main account everytime i enter my password to login i get stuck on the purple loading screen. it still shows the cursor and im able to move it around but besides that theres nothing i could do but turn it off [22:59] hey can any1 help me with a problem logging in to my account [23:19] jay_: sorry. [23:19] jay_: usually the username is a single token [23:19] eg instead of John Q. User it might just be juser [23:20] or johnq or jqu [23:20] or any of a number of things, point being it probably doesn't have spaces or punctuation [23:23] in your guest account you might be able to open a terminal emulator and issue the command 'ls /home' [23:23] and you should see the username of the other account in there, eg, something like '/home/johnq' or /home/juser' [23:23] or /home/jqu [23:23] to extend the examples above. [23:24] so, whatever that username is is what you would use to try to log in to be sure it isn't a pw problem, and to give you some more control over things.
