uebera||Hi. I recompiled the current unbound sources  on Xenial (in a build container) and tried to install it on Xenial (new dependencies are seemingly not a problem, i.e., they can be satisfied). While "unbound -v -d" worked flawlessly, starting it via systemd never finishes. Have there been changes to the systemd configuration that could explain this (and are these documented somewhere)?15:06
ducasseuebera||: this channel is only for the development release - 17.10 atm15:07
uebera||yes, I'm talking about the 17.10 sources.15:07
ducasseah, right.15:08
Asad2005This is the second time that when i come to unlock my screen the login screen is not taking keyboard input? 16:00
Asad2005i am on 17.10? How do go around this or atleast if there is away to kill just the x server instead of reboot16:01
ducassectrl+alt+f1, log in, kill x. also try just switching to console and back (ctrl+alt+f1 then alt+f7)16:03
uebera||Asad2005: Did you wait a while (and maybe move the mouse around)? On a slower Xenial machine, I'm usually greeted with the lock screen showing the time when I left the machine the day before. Depending on the load, it takes up to 120 seconds to update/respond.16:03
Asad2005ducasse: The command is just "kill x" ? I tried the other alternatives already16:12
ducasseAsad2005: no, find the pid and use that. alternatively, 'sudo systemctl restart lightdm'16:14
Asad2005ducasse: the unlock greeter seems to be the GDM, how can i tell if i am using lightdm?16:15
Asad2005ducasse: I think i have installed GDM before upgrading my 17.04 to 17.10 when i was trying gnome16:16
ducasseAsad2005: try that command with 'gdm' or 'gdm3' instead of 'lightdm'16:21
Asad2005i have restrted gdm but the system freezed and i had to reboot16:25
Asad2005Currently the 17.10 is with lightdm or gdm and how do i switch to lightdm until the ubutu team do the upgrade16:26
teskoi think im still running unity16:29
ducasseAsad2005: i don't mean to be rude, but if you don't know how to do these things you should probably not be running a development release...16:31
Asad2005ducasse: You may be right but i am always experemnting and taking the chance and also learning as if i dont put my foot on the wet area i will never learn16:35
ikoniaa development release is not the place to learn the fundementals16:37
ducasseAsad2005: you can still learn plenty by using a stable release, it's usually not recommended to run development releases without a reason16:37
Asad2005I want to switch back to lightdm can someone please tell me which command to do this16:38
ducasseAsad2005: dpkg-reconfigure lightdm16:38
ducasseAsad2005: we _are_ trying to give you constructive advice16:39
Asad2005ducasse: Thanks a lot16:40
Asad2005ducasse: I have changed it back thanks i will reboot16:41
teskodoesnt take half an hour to reboot17:17
ikoniahe won't be back as he didn't like being told running an development release was not inline with his current experince level 17:18
