[00:02] foo74: afaik, the betas aren't out yet [00:02] foo74: what is your confusion? [00:11] What is the difference between a daily build and, for example, Beta 2 when it comes out? Or is Beta 2 just a 'stake in the ground' for that particular day? [00:14] the day beta 2 is released, the daily could be different. [00:15] ok, thanks oerheks [04:37] Anyone know why I don't have an option to use Wayland in gdm? There's just no gear next to the login button. I'm running the 17.10 daily build [04:52] NotDisliked: i think wayland is now default [05:18] http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/08/ubuntu-17-10-gnome-3-26 [05:45] It should be default but my session is still very much X11 === JanC is now known as Guest85497 === JanC_ is now known as JanC [15:48] So, I've been running Ubuntu 17.10 for a couple months now and its been working splendidly. However, it just rebooted and the launcher is no longer auto-hiding, and I cannot access the 'Appearances' section of system settings to change it - it is simply not there. [17:52] perhaps related... is the ubuntu dock extension supposed to be unable to be turned off? [18:12] gonyere: interesting, wonder if that's intentional [18:13] IDK, I finally managed to simply remove it via apt (gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock), and got back to a normal GNOME shell... seems like it ought to be able to simply be disabled tho [18:48] Oh, if getting to a "normal" GNOME Shell was the goal, then there is a separate session I think you can install [18:48] and then logout / login and you're done [18:48] it's not installed by default but is supported [20:05] Not anymore. Prior to 17.10 there was Unity, but as of 17.10 Ubuntu has moved back to GNOME [20:29] the beta 1 milestone isos have dropped, and a few of us are seeding the torrents [20:29] more seeders would be helpful [20:30] http://torrent.ubuntu.com:6969/ [20:30] quick way to find them all: control f "beta" [20:50] hi , i upgraded from 16.04 to 17.10 now i get an error on boot uknown file sytem, how can i fix please? [20:56] how did you upgrade, singlemale35? [20:56] by using the ubuntu dvd 17.10 [20:58] so you made a fresh install, not an upgrade [20:59] no it gave me the option to uprade on the dvd install [21:00] interesting [21:00] at what point do you get this error message? [21:00] and what flavor are you upgrading? [21:01] its when i try and boot from start without dvd [21:01] upgrading from 16.04 to artful 17.10 [21:01] stock ubuntu then? [21:02] yes [21:02] hmmm, seems a bit chancy [21:02] I hope you have a good backup of your data [21:02] for one thing, you're moving from Unity to Gnome [21:02] from x.org to Wayland [21:02] quite a move [21:03] ok [21:03] anyway, neither here nor there I guess [21:04] if you can get to a terminal, I would try sudo apt install -f where f=fix [21:04] so control f2 or so [21:05] and then: `sudo apt install -f` [21:05] without the backticks [21:05] ok ty [21:53] hi i got ubuntu 17.10 by erasing it and re-installing (note: i had no data to lose so it was ok for me to do it ) [21:53] to work ^ [21:54] excellent, singlemale35 [21:54] I am on it right now :) [21:54] * valorie is on kubuntu artful as well [21:54] I have been since the alpha 1 [21:54] ahh
