[00:42] freibooter: Hi, give the tweak tool a try [00:43] or run gnome-shell-extension-prefs [00:43] I did ... same thing as with the "extensions" extension [00:44] Ubuntu dock can be enabled, that does nothing and next time I look it's disabled. [00:44] maybe someone here has a clue, better restate your issue if you haven't already.. just logged in here so I might have missed that [00:44] Will do [00:45] Hey there, is anyone running 17.10 beta and was stupid enough to install "Dash to Dock", like me? [00:45] It killed Ubuntu Dock and I have no idea how to get it back ... [00:45] Installing dash to dock replaces ubuntu dock, worked well ... UNINSTALLING dash-to-dock doesn't bring it back, though. [00:45] Ever since I uninstalled dash to dock, Ubuntu Dock is dead as a doornail and I can#äät get it back. [00:46] freibooter: i foudn for some extensionns, i had to enable them *and* click the little gear and enable them there [00:46] freibooter: just an fyi [00:46] freibooter: not sure if ubuntu dock is one of those [00:46] I did both ... nope [00:46] dead [00:47] freibooter: Have you checked in dconf-editor yet? [00:48] Nope, wouldnÄt even know what to look for [00:49] You can do a search in dconf-editor, or navigate to org.gnome.shell.extensions and check what's there [00:51] There's a dash-to-dock entry [00:52] Is dash-to-dock also still in org.gnome.shell > enabled-extensions? [00:52] If so, edit it out [00:52] It is, will do [00:53] Not sure that will suffice, you need to check there as well whether ubuntu-dock is in the enabled-extensions array [00:53] Brilliant, that did it. [00:53] great :) [00:54] Nope, that was it ... reappeared the second that string was removed. [00:54] Amazing [00:54] Thank you so much. [00:54] You're welcome [00:55] That probably still shouldn't happen ... I mean, dash-to-dock is still an official package [00:55] enjoy the beta [00:55] I'll file a bug [00:56] freibooter: yes, it's quite odd.. and dash-to-dock is popular, might trick many new users [00:56] There's no UI für enabled-extension that i missed, right? [00:57] gnome-tweak-tool, or gnome-tweak (might have been renamed) are the ususal GUI tools, and gnome-shell-extension-prefs [00:57] might be something new, I haven't actually tested 17.10 yet [00:58] Both work, neither actually does anything useful ... [00:58] Everything in the extension settings was off ... [00:59] turning it on made no visible difference. I mean, Ubuntu AppIndicator was clearly functional, yet still listed as OFF [01:00] I'm not sure against which package you'd file a bug.. [01:00] And dash-to-dock only appeared inside that one string in dconf editor ... even thoung ubnuntu dock still seems to use the dash-to-dock named string everywhere else. [01:01] dconf might be involved, as it still kept dash-to-dock in the enabled array, even while you removed that via apt correct? [01:01] Ah well, having a dock makes this whole thing a whole lot more usable now. [01:01] Yep, that's correct and source of the error. [01:03] Now I just wish I could move that "all applications" button into the left hand corner ... when the thing is on the bottom it's on the right. That's a terrible location on a dual monitor set-up [01:04] But I think that may be too much to ask [01:05] Hang on, I used an extension once to do something similar, let me check what's it called [01:07] Found it! There's an entry in dash-to-dock in dconf editor [01:07] "show on top" [01:07] Still works with Ubuntu dock, even though there is no UI for it [01:07] So much better ... slam mouse into left corner and click works again [01:08] org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock show-apps-at-top true [01:09] nice find :) [01:10] Now I juts need that weather extension on top and trhis is a nice usable desktop [01:17] Oh, nice, this works on Wayland, too: http://www.theironsamurai.com/chrome-screen-tearing-on-linux-enable-override-software-rendering-list/ ... now Chrome is usable as well. [01:18] (Yeah, I know, not that open but it syncs nicely with Android) [01:35] Thanks again for all you help, glitsj16. You really were a life saver. [01:37] have a good night [01:37] freibooter: Quite alright, likewise! === brainwash_ is now known as brainwash === JanC_ is now known as JanC [03:45] anyone noticed screen issues on last updates for Xwayland? [03:46] i had edges gone on irc channel tabs, close/minimize buttons gone on windows and overal sluggishness opening programs from dock [12:44] hi all please, how to request a cancellation of a pastebin pasted for error? on paste.ubuntu.com? === Nach0z_afk is now known as Nach0z [16:31] jk^: maybe kuhlmant in #canonical-sysadmin can help, but just maybe... [19:39] hi. I installed 17.10 but now rhythmbox will not show full title on mp3 files. it looks like it is displaying id3v1 tags, even though v2 exists. rhythmbox is version 3.4.1 [19:39] easytag shows the correct (full) information [19:42] I didn't observe this behavior on my other pc (which still runs 17.04)
