Fretegianyone here installed infinality-ultimate on ubuntu-mate?01:06
_Anna_Hi. Does someone know the minimum MB of graphics memory Ubuntu MATE 64 needs?01:09
Fretegihi there, i dont know that01:10
Fretegihowever, what kinda card u running?01:10
_Anna_That's irrelevant.01:10
Fretegiusually more an issue of amount of RAM available unless your doing intense graphics stuff01:10
tsimonq2_Anna_: How much do you have to work with?01:11
_Anna_My problem is I can't install vista on my virtual machine and I don't know why. I suspect I might gave less graphics memory than vista needs, but then again I don't want to take from host os more than host OS needs.01:13
tsimonq2_Anna_: That shouldn't be a problem on modern systems01:27
_Anna_It's a Toshiba Tecra A10-11M. You can't exactly call it modern.01:28
tsimonq2_Anna_: I'd say just try it and see if it works ;)01:30
_Anna_Try what?01:30
tsimonq2Try allocating the memory01:32
_Anna_I did. Twice. I gave 32 out of 128 MB and it gave me back a blue screen which I didn't even have time to read.01:33
tsimonq2Alright, then let's wait for flexiondotorg, he'll likely know the answer ;)01:34
_Anna_I don't really know what is the problem for sure. I suspect it is that cause Microsoft says it might need 128 MB... but I can't leave my host OS without graphics memory at all, can I?01:35
_Anna_Who?01:35
tsimonq2_Anna_: Martin Wimpress.01:37
ali1234ubuntu mate should not need any graphics memory assigned to the VM at all, and it wont be used until you install the guest utils anyway02:05
_Anna_I'm not sure I follow.02:10
_Anna_Are you saying I can give all available graphics memory to the guest OS?02:14
_Anna_PrtSc button doesn't work with vm, but I think I found a way to read the blue screen. Next time it happens, I'll just pause the vm!02:20
_Anna_At least I'll know what's wrong, hopefully.02:20
ubuntu-matehello03:11
_Anna_The error is called DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL03:30
_Anna_Any idea what is that?03:30

DarkJarristhat was an odd thing to happen. my usb stick suddenly became read only16:43
DarkJarrisbit of investigating shows the my /media folder was owned by root16:43
DarkJarrischowned it back to me, rebooted the laptop, now its fine16:43
DarkJarrisnot entirely sure what changed it though, or when16:43
web1hello19:21
web1is there anybody who's good at oracle?19:21
biotimDarkJarris: /media folder is normally owned by root. Probably the system encountered some problem with the USB device or the filesystem on the USB drive, which caused it to remount it as read-only. Could indicate a problem with the drive, or maybe just a temporary interruption of the USB connection. https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/168321/why-does-ubuntu-change-my-file-system-to-read-only19:37
