[00:37] why doesn [00:37] why doesn't Kubuntu use the Firefox-plasma ppa? [01:05] JonelethIrenicus: Firefox is not something we package [01:06] that is done by the Ubuntu devels, and the reason it hasn't been updated for Artful yet is some security problem === rwb1 is now known as rwb === tom69 is now known as Timmothy_Hacker_ === Timmothy_Hacker_ is now known as Tmthxrmmzvrziii === Tmthxrmmzvrziii is now known as tmthxrmmzvrziii === ben_ is now known as Guest61233 [10:40] how to force plasmashell to start without wayland or only x.org === musa is now known as moosa === musa is now known as moosa [12:08] Hiyas all === zark is now known as Candidat === Candidat is now known as candidat1 === insegnante is now known as markit === musa is now known as moosa === giova is now known as giova_ === insegnante is now known as markit === Roey is now known as PRESSFAIL === PRESSFAIL is now known as Roey === sparky8251_ is now known as sparky8251 [16:34] kubuntu 16.04 issue: how do make the desktop icons require a double-click [16:45] got it working for the files in dolphin, but not the plasma desktop icons created by dragging stuff from the K manu to the desktop [16:51] :TomyLobo seems that is intentional behavior. see 2nd post: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=138428 [16:52] it also gives to ways to make that behavior work [16:53] Hello [16:59] "The only raison d'ĂȘtre for "double-click to open" is to be able to select on single click." [16:59] ...right [16:59] actually the reason i want this is so i dont accidentally click stuff [17:01] on the systems I use, there simply is no application startup requiring only a single click [17:02] I'm trying to install kubuntu on an Asus L200HA with win10. It has a 32 GB eMMC (internal), and an a microSDXC memory card slot. When loading the kubuntu installer, it identifies the 32GB eMMC storage (although most of the partitions there are recognized as "unknown"), but it doesn't recognize the microSDXC memory card slot. I tried different cards (sandisk/kingstone). Nothing works. Any ideas? [17:02] click K menu, click icon in menu => 2 clicks double-click desktop icon => 2 clicks double-click ods file to open libreoffice calc => 2 clicks [17:02] so not having that consistency is bad [17:04] application launchers are off to the bottom, so they're not easily clicked by accident [17:06] https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348960#c12 so basically what this guy said :) [17:06] KDE bug 348960 in Icon Applet "Double click to open file/folders do not work with "icon" and "trash" plasmoids" [Normal,Resolved: wontfix] [17:07] also, KDE has always been about customization, and I think this behaviour should be the choice of the user === root is now known as Guest72480 [17:20] :TomyLobo the link i provided states that you can set up a folder view or change the desktop type so it is a folder view. then the files in your desktop folder will only open on double click and be displayed on your desktop [17:20] by default, its not a file. its a launcher widget. and these cant take that setting. [17:42] hi guys, i just updated to 17.04 from 16.10 and notried something strange with login to lightdm and nvidia 375 [17:43] is it true that the 375 package in the official repos isnt the best to take [17:43] i cant login to my kde at the moment [17:43] *noticed [18:07] sparky8251, oh, that's actually what i did in previous versions [18:08] the thing that changed was probably that you can now drag launchers to the desktop [18:09] i recall being able to drag launcher to the desktop back in KDE4. glad i was able to help you TomyLobo! [18:20] maybe i just never tried beyond some point :) === neo is now known as Guest21263 === dilfridge is now known as vacuum [20:15] ghostcube: we haven't used lightdm for a long time [20:16] any particular reason you still want it? [20:17] valorie: nope, i used sddm in 16.10, but i found the error [20:17] anything must went wrong for the release upgrade [20:17] cause as i brought in sddm and set it as default i could login and noticed none of my widgets were working [20:18] kubuntu-dektop missed a lot of packages [20:18] so i just catched them [20:18] till now it works fine again [20:19] well, I had to purge lightdm for things to work correctly [20:19] one time I even found *kdm* [20:19] o_O [20:19] which is really oldy-moldy [20:20] once I got rid of the old stuff and reinstalled sddm, all was well [20:21] :) [20:22] but i dont know why my upgrtade went so wrong.. i just did it on tty2 as always [20:22] uhh 17.04 brings audio cd support back, nice one [20:24] ghostcube: did you follow all the steps in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ZestyUpgrades/Kubuntu [20:24] 16.10 is long eol [20:24] so good on ya for upgrading [20:24] i had the latest hw stack [20:25] and sure all updates [20:25] i did what i always do, never had probs so far [20:26] yeah i updated to get 17.10 in 4 weeks :D [20:27] "Note: It is advisable to purge the backports PPA (if enabled) before attempting an upgrade. To do that run in a terminal: " [20:28] its disabled by release upgrade anyays i always use sources.list without any specials [20:28] and i like the headless upgrader [20:28] disabled != purge [20:28] sure [20:28] thats right [20:29] i got it back so i think its ok :D [20:29] even nvidia is working again
