[21:18] and back [21:18] our old roof sprung a leak in the first heavy rain of the season [21:18] :( [21:19] my side of the bed [21:19] then this morning, a second leak [21:19] :( [21:19] gonna have to go up again with a tarp, ropes, etc. [21:20] to hold us until we can get a new roof spring - summer [21:21] eakk [21:21] Damn [21:21] thats a long time for a tarp to hold up [21:21] what's the alternative [21:22] pretty late to try to do a roof now that the rains have begun [21:22] and we only got clearance about a month ago to do a metal roof [21:22] since then, it was under level 3 evac orders because of the fire [21:22] it is insured? [21:23] well, we insure the forest service against us starting a fire or so [21:23] but you can't really get insurance [21:23] its not a home? [21:24] we own the building itself, but it's on leased land [21:24] or precisely: special permit land [21:25] oh right [21:25] I can't even imagine the replacement cost [21:25] just curious how it works there [21:25] the four original guys did a timber buy in the 1950s [21:25] had loggers cut and limb the trees and truck them down [21:26] we peeled and put insecticide on them while they were seasoning [21:26] those sort of logs are now worth thousands since the japanese want them [21:26] each [21:28] I mean, a fire probably wouldn't burn the logs themselves unless it was a maelstrom of wildfire [21:28] just the roof and some contents [21:28] although they have been drying for 60 years...... [21:40] seems to be a storm blowing in here [21:41] Bob had to get off the mountain early, this afternoon, because there was a snowstorm [21:41] he said it was basically a blizzard, so they knocked off at 2 [21:41] got down to the cabin just as Thomas and we were about finished cleaning and packing [21:47] here it is pretty calm -- we've only had maybe a tenth of an inch of rain this weekend [21:47] probably 5x that much at the cabin, which is good for the fire situation
