tseliotLaney: my workaround for gdm doesn't seem to be needed any more with the 384 nvidia series (which I haven't uploaded yet)09:56
Laneytseliot: nice, what changed?10:07
tseliotLaney: honesty, I have no idea. A bug somewhere in the 375 series, I suppose10:08
tseliotLaney: I haven't tested the latest 384 driver, but I'll let you know10:08
Laneytseliot: I thought it was intentional/known to not work until something or other was fixed in mutter/the driver10:13
Laneyor maybe just the wayland part but the X-broken-on-wayland part was always a bug?10:14
tseliotLaney: (luckily) there was a miscommunication problem.10:14
Laneyso............ can we enable KMS by default for nvidia then?10:14
tseliotLaney: probably. I need to check if/why is still disabled by default10:16
Laneycool10:18
Laneymaybe that part is a next cycle thing10:18
tseliotyep10:55
popeyIn 17.10 - I previously installed gnome-session - but i just tried removing/purging it, but it still shows up in gdm cog menu. Is there some package I have missed removing?11:59
didrockshave you rebooted in between?12:02
popeyyes12:02
popeyI have "GNOME Classic", "Ubuntu" and "Ubuntu on Xorg" as options, to be clear12:05
dobeygnome-session-fallback ?12:06
popeyyou mean gnome-session-flashback? That's also uninstalled12:07
dobeywhat does dpkg -S /usr/share/xsessions give?12:07
popeyubuntu-session, gnome-shell-extensions: /usr/share/xsessions12:08
Laneygnome-shell-extensions provides classic12:09
Laneyiirc12:09
dobeyyep12:10
popeylooks that way, thanks :)12:10
GargoyleThink I have a bug in the display prefs. I searched launchpad bugs for "display" and got nothing which is a bit unexpected. Is there a knack to searching launchpad?12:30
GargoyleFYI, The bug is, goto prefs->devices->display. Change the scale to 200% (I don't get a prompt to apply changes). Change back to 100% and now it gives me an "apply" prompt.12:31
didrocksit's in gnome-control-center12:31
didrocksif you want to report a bug against it :)12:32
Gargoyleupstream then?12:32
didrocksyeah, that part is upstream AFAIK, so bugzilla would be good12:33
jbichapopey: sorry that the GNOME Classic package name isn't obvious. I don't know how to fix that without causing problems for people upgrading who do use Classic13:05
popeyNo worries :)13:06
ThorHop[m]A wild popey appears...13:50
didrocksjust had a thought about it, we can fix the name and preserve people upgrading13:51
didrocksadding a recommends from g-s-extenstions on a new gnome-classic package (from the same source)13:51
didrocksand g-c which deps on g-s-extensions13:51
didrockslet's do that next cycle13:51
jbichaok13:59
jbichadidrocks: do you want to try demoting xterm? LP: #172048214:45
ubot5Launchpad bug 1720482 in xterm (Ubuntu) "Demote xterm to universe" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/172048214:45
didrocksjbicha: they are a lot of rdepends, did you check all them are in universe?14:48
didrocksseems so from the bug report14:49
jbichadidrocks: I believe that's in the bug report14:49
jbichaxterm doesn't show up on component-mismatches but I think it's worth trying14:50
didrocksyeah, with the g-t provides, that should be ok14:50
Laneythere's a chance that this could cause gnome-terminal to be included in an image when it wasn't before14:51
didrocksdone14:51
didrocksyeah14:51
didrocksdepending on the way germinate treat that14:51
didrocksif we don't have other providers14:51
jbichaunless we want to wait until 18.04?14:51
Laneycompare seeded-in-ubuntu today with tomorrow14:51
didrockslet's give it a try, it's easy to fix14:51
didrocksyep14:52
didrocksjbicha: you agree having a look tomorrow? ^14:52
jbichayes14:52
didrocks(can do a quick look as well, but better to be 2 to remember ;))14:52

jbichaandyrock: hi, could you leave a comment when you close a bug as Opinion like LP: #1720736 ? I think it's more polite16:43
ubot5Launchpad bug 1720736 in gnome-shell (Ubuntu) "Consider changing "Activities" text to Ubuntu icon image by default for brand recognition" [Undecided,Opinion] https://launchpad.net/bugs/172073616:43
andyrockjbicha: marking as opinion is not closing16:44
jbichayes it is16:44
andyrockmmm16:44
jbichait no longer shows up in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bugs?orderby=-id&start=016:45
andyrockok I opened up it again16:46
jbichahttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Bug%20statuses16:46
jbichaOpinion might be correct here.16:46
andyrockthanks for clarification16:46
jbichaThere's lots of GNOME documentation that refers to the Activities Overview which won't make sense if the button isn't named Activities16:47
jbichawillcooke: can LP: #1717309 be closed now?17:21
ubot5Launchpad bug 1717309 in ubuntu-themes (Ubuntu) "17.10 Artful Aardvark Mascot" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/171730917:21
