[06:22] ducasse: https://puri.sm/shop/librem-5/ [06:22] 1.3 lol [06:22] how long left? [06:23] 14 days [06:23] looks like thats gonna b a winner [06:25] https://pureos.net/ [06:25] gnome3 & wayland huh.. [06:25] hope so, i'd love to see them actually 'get born' [06:27] yeah me too [06:28] Good morning [06:29] hey lordievader [06:29] how are you? [06:31] Doing good here [06:31] https://puri.sm/posts/tag/pureos/page/2/ [06:32] How are you [06:32] interesting stuff [06:32] morning lordievader [06:32] im fine lordievader new workweek here [06:32] started new job yet? [06:33] ducasse: yep last week [06:34] lotuspsychje: indeed [06:34] fantastic hours [06:34] Time for coffee [06:34] enjoy lordievader [06:36] Say goodbye to proprietary BIOSes, say hello to coreboot [06:36] lol [06:36] lotuspsychje: how do you like it so far? [06:36] https://www.coreboot.org/ [06:36] yeah, if coreboot would actually be useful :) [06:37] very nice ducasse their friendly, less hours, more pvt time [06:37] good cow-orkers? [06:37] Thanks [06:38] Nice strong coffee [06:38] yeah ducasse were only with 4 [06:38] small restaurant [06:38] * ducasse finds the biscuits [06:38] * lotuspsychje always drinks with milk & sugar [06:38] otherwise its like patatoes without salt [06:39] can't drink coffee myself, stick to tea or coke for my caffeine [06:39] aha [06:40] speaking of..going to breakfast too [06:40] enjoy, lotuspsychje [06:40] tnx :p [06:40] 'sup, kids? [06:41] \o [06:49] lordievader: do you know of any lossless audio formats that are better than flac? [06:49] 'better' as in 'more space-saving', for example [07:01] http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Lossless_comparison [07:04] interesting - thanks. [07:18] ducasse: I usually rip in flac. Haven't really looked at other formats. [07:18] It is not like space is really an issue for me. [07:22] it isn't for me either, really, i was mostly just wondering what was best supported etc. [07:24] and now i have a fair idea, thanks to jink and that excellent pointer :) [07:29] :P [12:23] Howdy all [13:50] Hi everyone [14:03] hey pauljw [14:07] hi BluesKaj :) [14:08] I see the Cheifs are 5-0 :) [14:09] really, that's awesome. Greenbay fan here, good game yesterday. [14:10] yeah, it was , i like GB as well [14:10] Rodgers is a great QB [14:10] My wife has a t-shirt that says "I have two favorite NFL teams, Greenbay and any team that beats Minnesota." or something like that... [14:11] never cared fro the cowboys since landry was the coach [14:11] :) [14:13] think NE is beginning to show some cracks on both sides of the ball , time for Brady to retire after this season before he gets hurt badly [14:14] I'd be less annoyed about the Chiefs win if Watt hadn't been injured. [14:15] I'm sorry I missed that game [14:15] yeah, it always bothers me when they play too long. quit while you can still do other things, like walk... [14:15] hehe :-) [14:17] think Brady's ego needs to be fed daily like a coal furnace...he has an unusual competitive streak in him [14:18] more so than most [14:20] ok , stuff to do for a few mns ...testing wayland [14:43] running wayland session on kde/plasma with the nouveau open source driver for nvidia, but the desktop is pretty shaky when trying to run some regular/normal features like virtual desktops and and adding widgets to the panel [14:48] are you seeing improvement along the way in wayland, BluesKaj? [14:52] pauljw, not yet, however wayland supposedly brings the gpu drivers closer to the bare metal than X11 so to speak [14:54] it works quite well on ubuntu gnome 3 (not my fav DE ). I tried ubuntu gnome with wayland yesterday for a few hrs, very stable, but it's stil gnome [14:55] wayland still lacks some quite essential things [14:56] for sure [14:58] pushing it to users is good in the way that it gets more testers, though [14:58] but making it default? not sure that is such a good move. === kostkon_ is now known as kostkon [15:00] the wayland implementation in ubuntu/gnome 3 is far ahead of kde/plasma and nvidia, but it'll eventually catch up in time, but it's gonna take a while [15:01] users with amd gpus have better wayland support than nvidia [15:03] intel also has decent wayland support [15:13] wayland has worked really well for me with intel gpu - no graphics issues, but there are plenty of other issues - i'm not switching to it full-time for a while yet. [15:14] evening everyone [15:15] \o EriC^^ [15:16] hey ducasse how are you? :) [15:16] good, thanks - and you? :) [15:17] good, thanks :) [15:20] Hey EriC^^, ducasse [15:20] hi EriC^^ [15:21] \o BluesKaj [15:21] ducasse, I'm running a wayland session right now and it's quite bare bones :-) [15:22] of course networking etc is fine but lots of desktop features are missing [15:22] is wayland planned to be the default for 18.xx? or is it still unknown. [15:23] pauljw, it's default on Ubuntu/gnome3 17.10 Artful afaik [15:24] ah, okay. i don't mess with anything other than the lts versions. probably should setup a vm and play with it a bit. [15:25] hi pauljw BluesKaj :) [15:25] :) [15:32] there;s a live usb image that runs it exclusively https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=rebeccablackos [15:54] wonder how well weston would works as a compositor on kde/plasma [15:57] you would need to rewrite it to support all the kde stuff, the compositor contains what we think of as the wm. [15:57] so if you switch the compositor you also switch the main bits of the desktop [15:59] yeah kwin seems to work well enough until more devel is done to accomadate the missing features [16:08] got to run, bbiab [16:08] later... [16:13] i really like the 'ubuntu got outdated software' dudes [16:14] especially if they run 12.40 HAHAHAHAHA [16:15] hi oerheks your joke went right over my head :-) [16:16] sorry for that :-( [16:17] why do people want rolling releases .. do they know what it asks from development/testers? [16:17] don't be sorry [16:23] no oerheks, they're clueless. they just want the latest and greatest and they want it NOW!! [16:24] then they want you to fix all the problems that go with it [16:32] there's nothing advantageous about rolling releases IME [16:48] good evening to all [16:48] well, I've used one that was well done and it is nice to only need to keep regular updates and always be at the latest version. [16:48] hi lotuspsychje [16:48] hi pauljw [16:50] how have you been lotuspsychje? [16:51] great here pauljw and you? [16:51] good here, too. thanks [16:59] hey EriC^^ [16:59] hey lotuspsychje [16:59] what's up? [17:00] EriC^^: just got home from work, chillin & eating on irc [17:00] cool [17:01] oops wayland just crashed the desktop leaving me with konversation and a black background [17:03] BluesKaj: artful? [17:04] i cant get rid of the lag/animations/windows buttons gone bug on gnome/wayland [17:25] hey Bashing-om [17:26] lotuspsychje: :) ! .. Did not expect you to still be on the channel; pleasant surprise . [17:46] Bashing-om: new work, more pvt time yay [17:53] lotuspsychje: Come on Lotus ComPuters ! [17:53] lol [17:56] lotuspsychje: Lotus Computers - at a hundred orders a week yet ? [17:57] nooo :p [17:59] lotuspsychje: Well - we got work to do then :) === JanC_ is now known as JanC [19:09] have a nice1 guys tv time :p
