[02:41] <nhaines> I bought Metroid: Samus Returns for my return flight from the Ubuntu Rally but after two hours or so I had to take a break.
[02:41] <nhaines> And by that I mean I couldn't throw my 3DS out the window because airplane.  :)  I like it, though.
[02:41] <pleia2> feel a bit bad about how much TV I've been watching, but seeing as how I've had a sprained ankle and that still isn't keeping me off planes, I am trying to cut myself some slack
[02:42] <pleia2> I haven't bought any new 3DS games lately
[02:43] <nhaines> I played Metroid II on 3DS Virtual Console but failed to convince myself that this was acceptable for the flight home.  :)
[02:43] <pleia2> I did buy Final Fantasy XIII at the end of July and totally failed to start playing it yet
[02:43] <nhaines> But Metroid was the first game I bought in a long while.
[02:44] <pleia2> but I did only spend one week at home in August, two weeks in September...
[02:45] <pleia2> my 3DS battery hasn't been doing as good as I remember
[02:45] <pleia2> I even ordered a new one, and that was lousy too

[02:47] <pleia2> kind of assumed I'd just upgrade to the Switch, but I really like my 3DS

[02:48] <pleia2> so I just charge it a lot :)

[02:48] <nhaines> It's a tough choice.  On the one had, I love autostereoscopic 3D, but on the other hand I also love resolution.

[02:51] <pleia2> but it turns out I don't like my games to be realistic, so I'm fine with lower resolution
[02:52] <pleia2> have we talked about this before? I can't play modern FPS games because they make me too sad
[02:52] <nhaines> Breath of the Wild is so beautiful though!

[02:53] <pleia2> the pretty of Final Fantasy in the late 90s certainly was a draw, but I think even with that the excitement wound down as I got into the game

[02:56] <nhaines> Everyone was excited about Skyrim for the Switch, but I was like "if I have an open-world Zelda game, why would I want to play Skyrim?"

[02:57] <nhaines> But, you know.  When Nintendo bends all their will into a single game, that game is special.

[03:02] <nhaines> It's an interesting game.  As it went on, I mostly played it to collect the in-world books and read them.  :)
