[09:01] Hey [12:59] Hi [13:01] Is this proper Ubuntu or other flavors testing? [13:08] https://community.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntu-17-10-community-iso-testing/458 [13:09] * acheronuk syncs isos [13:12] should we post bugs we encounter during the testing here [13:12] and someone will report it in the bug tracker [13:22] I'd recommend filing them on the bug tracker yourself. [13:22] Don't rely on someone else filing them, as they may not be able to reproduce them [13:46] Afternoon everyone. [13:53] ok. so this is on at 15:00 UTC = 4pm UK time ? [13:53] Correct! [13:54] just double checking. cool [13:56] * acheronuk wonders how many read the 'UTC' part [13:56] :) [13:57] I'll reply on the thread on the hub and tweet out in ~3 mins to say it's in an hours time :) [14:11] \o/ tweeted from ubuntu [14:12] & retweeted [14:25] o/ [14:25] Have to get some food and dinner however but will join the testing later [14:26] enjoy your dinner [14:26] ls [14:26] oops [14:26] :) [14:26] wrong terminal :D [14:26] cya around laters [14:39] ... [14:59] Going live very soon [15:00] Hello everyon! [15:00] ok [15:00] -typos [15:02] afternoon :) [15:02] o/ [15:02] Hi everyone [15:02] when is Ubuntu MATE being renamed to the more correct Ubuntu Martin!?! [15:02] :-p [15:04] Martin, where's your t-shirt coming from? é_è [15:04] * acheronuk waves [15:04] waves [15:04] waves :D [15:04] hai [15:04] yay! [15:04] * TrunkleBob waves [15:04] 👋 [15:04] popey, flexiondotorg o/ [15:05] the text is still small on my screen [15:05] since when is A after Z?! [15:05] obviously they are not alphabetical, probably tongue in cheek. [15:06] Hello World! [15:07] Base URL: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/ [15:08] it's in reversed alphabetical order to have most recent at the top. [15:08] but A .... [15:10] what exaclty is the [15:11] what exactly is the address with the final images etc that martin is using right now? [15:11] http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/383/builds [15:11] Base URL: http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/ [15:11] thx [15:11] From there, go to the end of the page, and click on "Artful Final". [15:12] http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/383/builds [15:12] Then, pick your distribution. [15:12] In addition all the images are on http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ [15:13] Good day all. (well morning here). [15:13] jibel, cdimage.ubuntu.com probably does not have the "Artful Final" image yet. [15:13] Hi all [15:14] here now [15:14] hi bashfulrobot_ [15:14] cdimage does have them, but they will be found in the latest daily builds folders. so a bit confusing [15:14] simosx, it does. It's the latest build for each flavor. For example for ubuntu it's in http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ [15:14] go via the testing tracker, and you are guaranteed to land on the right iso [15:17] Kubuntu has struggled to get bare metal testing on particularly i386 in the betas. so any testing for these RCs on that would be great [15:17] acheronuk: is the updated ISOs updated? [15:17] uploaded* [15:18] bittin: the ones on the tracker are the latest spins. done by the release team earlier this afternoon [15:18] perfect [15:19] acheronuk: downloading from the Swedish Mirrors now :) [15:19] bittin: I can speak for how up to date mirrors are [15:20] check md5/sha hashes [15:20] seems to be the same file [15:20] :) [15:21] ouroumov: A one off early prototype t-shirt [15:22] You should alway use the ISO tracker for downloading images for testing. [15:22] It will always link to the latest candidate image. [15:22] * acheronuk nods [15:23] acheronuk flexiondotorg popey Downloading ready for test in around 30 minutes [15:23] flexiondotorg, I want to know how popey's getting the video of his BIOS. :O [15:23] You clicked on "Install", not "Try" [15:23] *whew* we can relax now - it booted. (ha ha) [15:23] ouroumov: We're using HDMI capture devices from Magewell. [15:23] popey - try is the first option - install is the second option [15:23] fossfreedom_: Glad you could join us :-) [15:24] :) [15:25] fossfeedom_ the pressure is off. :-P (booting) [15:25] flexiondotorg: good choice we use those at dayjob too [15:26] o_O [15:27] fossfreedom_ - did you have that? I'm pretty sure my last install ididn;t [15:27] for sure a Debian logo [15:27] :D [15:27] good spot popey [15:29] Uh, just quick note on this: Home folder encryption is the only reliable encryption option. [15:29] JOIN [15:31] Hello, does anyone know any Linux clients (Fedora or Ubuntu) to use Google Drive? The option to insert Google account is not legal to work, because I am in doubt if you synchronized the files. I searched the internet and found nothing that works as the Google client for Windows as the old Google Drive (Now in the new version as Backup and sync in version 3.36). Thanks for the help if anyone can inform you. [15:31] Bonfiglio: sadly google haven't made their linux google drive client available :( [15:32] popey: I'll pull a link - I have been using an alternative gdrive client. [15:33] Bonfiglio: I use Insync https://www.insynchq.com/ [15:34] Bonfiglio: I use this one with google drive. https://github.com/astrada/google-drive-ocamlfuse [15:34] flexiondotorg works well? [15:34] Better than the official client on Windows. [15:35] I'll have to give it a go. [15:36] kio_gdrive integrates with dolphin file manager, multiple google account [15:38] I use insync's nautilus integration and can attest that it works very well. [15:39] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance [15:44] thanks you all :) [15:44] thanks all [15:44] thanks! [15:44] thanks :) [15:44] thx [15:44] Thank you everyone [15:44] Thanks everyone! [15:44] cheers popey [15:45] Thank you everyone! [15:45] just got the iso downloaded and putting on sticks, dvds and such now [15:46] jibel: Thank you for joining, Really valuable insight :-) [15:47] vrm: kio_gdrive did not quite make it into artful, but it is built and ready to go in the Kubuntu backports PPA once artful is released [15:47] Important info to disseminate: for 17.10, the Live Session runs X.Org instead of Wayland (because of some issues with Ubuquity on Wayland). Therefore, if a user tries the LiveSession, it is not a guarantee that Wayland works fine on the machine. [15:47] Very! [15:48] If anyone has any comments or valuable information to add, feel free to drop it on the thread:- https://community.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntu-17-10-community-iso-testing/458 [15:48] We can add some of that to the youtube video description and we will re-share it tomorrow. [15:53] my desktop said something about firmwire error on boot [15:53] but it started up [15:55] bittin: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-microcode/+bug/1700373 possibly? [15:55] ouroumov: i also have a funky ffmpeg script which captures the output from my laptop. Having pixel-perfect 1080p 60fps capture of the desktop is great for filing good bugs :D [15:55] hi all ;D [15:55] <-- 17.10 [15:55] :) [15:55] Yay! [15:55] on laptop and big pc ;D [15:56] what is ubuntuonair? :D [15:56] ouroumov: way more reliable than software screen captures. - check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v35Aw-f7DI [15:56] freakyy: it's a youtube channel ;) [15:56] ah ok [15:56] we sometimes put live videos there [15:57] it's fun [15:57] popey: no its a 4th generation [15:57] but it went of so fast [15:57] does anyone have the problem that the boot up splash screen is in negative colors or something. like white background pink font shadow? ;D [15:57] ah okay [15:57] will try to take a picture [15:57] freakyy: what video card? [15:57] how do i find out my graphics card, but its an old ati radeon M [15:57] I have seen that kind of thing with ATI cards. [15:58] on thudwon it shows the correct colors [15:58] let me check out th youtube channel [15:59] popey: yeah seems to be that problem on Haswell too [15:59] what do u mean by iso testing, i ... myself have 17.10 already instaleld on both of my computers ;D [16:01] what is rocket chat? [16:02] freakyy: chat thing like Slack, Microsoft Teams etc [16:02] but self hosted [16:02] ah ok ioO [16:02] well i use discord myself [16:02] its awesome - discord ;D [16:03] JOIN [16:04] bornfree0: yay ;D [16:04] i wonder if, rocket chat is worth it setting up [16:04] if u have a dedicated root server ;D [16:07] Terminal does not start at all on my PC [16:09] The terminal does not start at all using Live System on Ubuntu Desktop [16:12] bittin_ubuntutes, are you using the latest image? it has been fixed yesterday [16:12] or should have [16:12] jibel: yes [16:13] bittin_ubuntutes, which flavor? [16:13] The daily image from the cd images site someone linked [16:13] jibel: the regular Ubuntu [16:13] so Gnome [16:14] any driver addition [16:15] bittin_ubuntutes, which language did you chose? [16:15] jibel: english for now [16:16] got no Terminal and no sound in live mode but Firefox works [16:18] got sound on Youtube but not web Spotify [16:19] jibel: using this image> http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/artful-desktop-amd64.iso [16:20] bittin_ubuntutes, yeah it's the latest image. Can you md5sum the image and compare to http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/daily-live/20171016/MD5SUMS just to double check it's the right one [16:21] I'm trying to reproduce [16:21] sure how did you do that i forgot? [16:21] bittin_ubuntutes, can we move to #ubuntu-quality it is more appropriate for this kind of discussion [16:21] jibel: sure [16:21] thanks [16:21] np [17:27] Installing snaps, dont seem to work as intended and everything is not translated to Swedish yet [17:27] also Terminal does not start at all if you boot in UEFI [17:43] did my first contribution too Rhythmbox while helping testing Ubuntu 17.10 :D [19:27] Hi everyone [19:30] Hello.. [19:38] howdy [19:45] popey or Wimpy or someone else that might know is it possible to update Ubuntu MATE to the 17.10 RC without reinstalling a laptop? [19:45] bittin_: from what? [19:45] valorie: 16.04.3 LTS [19:46] i am install for testing [19:46] oh [19:46] valorie: cool amaroK developer just installed amaroK for the first time in a while [19:46] while testing Kubuntu [19:47] that's a bit of a trek, since it would have to upgraded to 17.04, THEN 17.10 [19:47] have found less bugs in Kubuntu in Ubuntu this cycle [19:47] valorie: ah okay [19:47] bittin_: no longer spelled with the capital K [19:47] lol [19:47] ah that shows my age :( [19:47] bittin_: yup, I was using amarok in those days too [19:48] i should say i don't use it these days :( [19:48] uses audacious [19:48] I'm part of the Kubuntu team, and we try very hard to kill all the bugs [19:48] but family members are doing [19:48] Gnome environment beautifully crafted in this seemingly [19:48] I still use amarok [19:48] heh, want something special tested? [19:49] also would it not be better to have Amarok by default and not an mpd client? [19:49] bittin_: our users really want i386, but many of them are not so good at testing esp. on bare metal 386 machines [19:49] bittin_: we hope to have amarok by default again by the LTS [19:49] valorie: awesome [19:49] makes me happy [19:50] but meanwhile we're trying to get rid of all old kdelibs-based stuff [19:50] me too [19:50] ah ok [19:50] the more kde-software only we can be, the better [19:51] meanwhile we always try to give our users the best software, which occasionally means non-KDE stuff [19:51] however i liked the more Winamp layout better then the iTunes one :P [19:51] never really used either of 'em [19:53] there was a show my Amarok thread on last.fm but seems most pics are dead [19:53] https://www.last.fm/group/Amarok+Users/forum/18538/_/178145/1 [19:54] gosh, I never heard of that forum [19:54] didn't know that lastfm had 'em [19:54] I think we should move to #amarok with this [19:55] sorry to channel denizens [21:52] Hello [22:23] hi === mnemonic is now known as Guest33787
