malibuHi.  I'm trying to use Inkscape, which needs CTRL-drag when resizing to preserve aspect ratio.  When I attempt this in Kubuntu I just get the right click context dialog menu.  Does anyone know how to fix this?01:02
malibuNever mind, was a (STUPID) vmware fusion setting01:10

rflemingHi everyone01:46
rflemingnew here.  I can't seem to get openconnect to work in KDE01:46
rflemingI created the profile, but when I click on connect... nothing happens01:46
kaddihi, I was wondering if someone could help me (description to follow, typing it up now :p)02:21
kaddiI run kubuntu 16.04 on a laptop with bluetooth. I've used my phones in the past to tether over bluetooth. Now all these phones appear in the list of available wifi's when you click on the systray icon. Which means I can't see any of the actually available wifi's without scrolling down. I have deleted the bluetooth connections from the connection editor but they reappear after reboot. How do I get them to disappear forever02:23
kaddiAlso, more generally.. how can I permanently delete a bluetooth device02:25

Guest9656PLEASE suggest a good email client04:02
Unit193Well it depends on what you consider "good", KDE likes kmail but I use alpine.04:03
hggdhmy personal experience is I had to test-drive a series of email clients to find one I least disliked04:04
kaddiI've returned to webmail >.>04:06
Guest9656is kmail good?04:07
dax<-- thunderbird04:09
dax(or webmail at work, bleh)04:09
daxkmail's a bit quirky but worth trying, i like it04:09
daxi mainly use thunderbird because it's cross-platform04:09
Guest9656thanks04:09

BluesKajHowdy folks09:57
R13oseHi10:04
John85back...I just killed my internet and had to reboot13:22
John85so got authentication,  then internet just died on me13:22
R13ose3/4 of my screen is white and rest gray.  Using kde.  How do I fix this?13:23
BluesKajwhich gpu?13:30
R13oseHow do I check in command line?13:32
lordievaderR13ose: sudo lspci -k13:33
lordievader(the -k also gives the driver loaded)13:33
R13oselordievader: how do I show only gpu?13:34
BluesKajor sudo lshw -C video13:35
lordievaderR13ose: `sudo lspci -k|grep -A 2 VGA`13:35
lordievaderTo make it better you do `sudo lspci -k|grep -A 2 -e VGA -e 3D`13:36
R13oseIntel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)13:37
lordievaderWith the i915 driver?13:37
BluesKajshould be13:37
lordievaderHence the question ๐Ÿ˜‰ if it is disabled we have the culprit.13:38
R13oseYes with i91513:39
lordievaderOk, good. Did you add any kernel parameters?13:39
R13oselordievader: I don't think I did but how do I check?13:40
lordievaderR13ose: Pastebin the output  of `cat /proc/cmdline`13:41
R13osehttp://paste.ubuntu.com/25872888/13:44
R13oselordievader: ^13:46
lordievaderWhy the acpi options?13:46
R13oselordievader: unsure.  If you want me to remove, please tell me how13:49
lordievaderDepends on how you set it up, most likely you edited `/etc/default/grub`.13:49
R13oselordievader: maybe, I will remice13:50
R13oseremove13:50
R13oselordievader: should I remove windows 2012 line only or vendor one too?13:55
lordievaderRemove 'acpi_osi=! "acpi_osi=Windows 2012" acpi_backlight=vendor'13:58
R13oselordievader: done13:59
lordievaderThen rebuild the grub config (`sudo update-grub2`) and reboot.14:00
R13oselordievader: I can't make the screen go back to normal without rebooting?14:02
=== deevad_ is now known as deevad_konv
=== deevad_konv is now known as deevad_konversat
lordievaderIf the problem is related to those acpi options, no. If the problem is elsewhere perhaps.14:04
R13oselordievader: can we check other options, first?14:05
lordievaderCheck the logs for any i915 output.14:05
R13oseHow?14:05
lordievaderR13ose: `grep i915 /var/log/syslog` for example.14:06
R13oselordievader: nothing14:07
lordievaderHmm, then search through `/var/log/X.org.0` for any errors or warnings.14:08
R13oselordievader: not sure what I am looking for14:12
R13oselordievader: want me to pastebin file?14:12
lordievaderErrors or warnings ๐Ÿ˜‰14:13
lordievaderSure14:13
R13oselordievader: trying to use pastebinit but not allowing me to do that.  Do you know how I would do that?14:18
lordievaderhttp://paste.ubuntu.com or http://paste.kde.org14:21
R13oselordievader: I know but I want to use the command14:23
BluesKaj!paste14:25
ubottuFor posting multi-line texts into the channel, please use https://paste.ubuntu.com | To post !screenshots use https://imgur.com/ !pastebinit to paste directly from command line | Make sure you give us the URL for your paste - see also the channel topic.14:25
lordievader!pastebinit14:26
ubottupastebinit is the command-line equivalent of !pastebin - Command output, or other text can be redirected to pastebinit, which then reports an URL containing the output - To use pastebinit, install the ยซ pastebinit ยป package from a package manager - Simple usage: command | pastebinit14:26
R13oseYes but it is saying command not found.14:27
lordievaderIt is not installed by default. `sudo apt install pastebinit`.14:28
R13oseI have that installed.  I mean the sudo /var/log/Xorg.0.log14:29
hateballMaybe because that's not something that would achieve anything14:30
R13oseWhat should the command be?14:31
hateballYou don't need sudo, and you can use 'cat' to read files14:31
R13osehttp://paste.ubuntu.com/25873180/14:32
R13oseThanks hateball14:32
hateball:)14:32
R13oselordievader: ^14:33
lordievaderLooks normal.14:33
lordievaderYou are using a Displayport monitor with a resolution of 1366x768?14:34
R13oseI think so.  How do I tell?14:35
R13oselordievader: ^14:37
lordievaderIs it using such a connector? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a6/Displayport-cable.jpg14:37
lordievader?14:38
R13oselordievader: nope this is straight laptop14:39
lordievaderOh, it is internally then.14:39
lordievaderDoes it have a dual-video card?14:40
lordievaderAn intel and nvdia/amd combo?14:40
R13oseSubsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller14:42
R13oselordievader: ^14:42
R13oseI don't think there is a combo14:42
lordievaderWhat is the output of `sudo lspci|grep -e VGA -e 3D`?14:43
R13oselordievader: same as original.  Only Intel14:45
lordievaderHmm, okay.14:45
lordievaderI'd really test to see if it problem is those acpi options.14:46
R13oselordievader: reboot, okay14:48
R13oselordievader: this means if I get bac14:49
R13oselordievader: I have to wait until this randomly happens again or doesn't14:50
lordievaderIt ain't a continual problem?14:50
R13oselordievader: nope14:51
lordievaderOh, I did not understand that from your description.14:51
lordievaderUnless you have a way to trigger it... you need to wait.14:52
R13oselordievader: I will wait but if never comes back, thanks14:54
rflemingHello #kubuntu.  I'm having some akonadi problems.  Self test reports back success/skip for all steps until 10 where the Akonadi control process is not registered at D-Bus.  the server process says the same.16:57
