jaharkesthat's what happens when you bring your almost 3 year old to work and she starts messing with the keyboard, sigh18:07
klj1218roaksoax: so the problem we had seems to be a know issue/limitation with booting centos in certain configs. I was able to force maas to use the sda device as the boot device, and not randomly pick a nvme device, by creating a "storage:" definition in the /etc/maas/preseeds/curtin_userdata_centos file to explicitly tell it to use "sda" as the boot device.19:21
klj1218roaksoax: would you like me to file a bug report and provide any system details for? These are new Dell 14G R740xd servers with NVME drives and a single non-nvme scsi device19:25
klj1218roaksoax: or is there an existing bug report I could get cc'd on?19:25

roaksoaxerr21:39
roaksoaxklj1218: yeah it is a known issue.21:40
roaksoaxklj1218: the support for centos storage atm is very experimental and not enabled21:41
roaksoaxhence maas picks the first disk it finds21:41
roaksoaxand the only way to work around it is via the preseed21:41
klj1218roaksoax: ok, thx21:44
klj1218roaksoax: in the preseed file ...there is syntax for "size:" under the partition, how can I tell it to use ALL the space?21:45
roaksoaxklj1218: have you tried not sending the size ?21:47
klj1218roaksoax: no21:48
klj1218roaksoax: so your suggesting in the partion definition, not to pass a size?21:48
roaksoaxklj1218: yeah, I can't recall if that would work as I dont often test that21:56
klj1218roaksoax: i'll test it and report back21:59
klj1218roaksoax: nope ... "An error occured handling 'sda-part1': ValueError - size must be specified for partition to be created"22:11
klj1218roaksoax: "size must be specified for partition to be created"22:12
roaksoaxklj1218: what about not specifying it at all ?22:13
roaksoaxklj1218: http://curtin.readthedocs.io/en/latest/topics/config.html -> doesn';t specificallt show what to do with the size22:14
roaksoaxi remember doing it before but not off the top of my head22:14
klj1218roaksoax: here's my config ... https://pastebin.com/f5qrFvrJ22:18
klj1218roaksoax: any suggestions welcome22:19
klj1218roaksoax: from the url you provided I don't see any info for "storage"22:19
roaksoaxklj1218: seems you would need the size:https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/joid/Deploying+Centos+with+MAAS22:26
klj1218roaksoax: yes it would, btw that's the webpage I found with the workaround yesterday22:27
roaksoaxk22:30
klj1218roaksoax: so is there already a bug report or enhancement request for this limitation? If so I like to track it22:30
roaksoaxklj1218: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/167241422:31
