Laneyswitched to tmux, and now arrow keys don't work in irssi10:40
Laneywhat's up with that10:40
Laneylemme see...10:43
Laneynope :(10:45
thelinuxboxrecently i had the need to create a minimal ubuntu iso, it turned out in my experience so far to be a lot harder than expected, i've filed what i think is a bug, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/live-build/+bug/1739790 because my post on the forums went unanswered, https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2379618, perhaps i've made a mistake in my shell script (it's posted on both the forum and bug10:46
thelinuxboxreport)?10:46
lubotu3Launchpad bug 1739790 in live-build (Ubuntu) "live-build fails to build" [Undecided,New]10:46
thelinuxboxany feedback would be much appreciated, thank you very much :)10:46
thelinuxboxit's my understanding live-build ia the best tool to use to build a minimal iso of ubuntu10:51
thelinuxboxi'm not sure if ubuntu-defaults-template might be an alternative solution, i've tried it and looked online for documentation to make a minimal build template but couldn't locate a proper solution10:54
zmoylan-piarrow keys seem to work in irssi and tmux for me. maybe your terminal emulator is acting the goat?11:04
zmoylan-piup n down scroll through previous comments, left n right through current text on comment line11:08
ChunkzZsup, merry christmas all. :)11:12
thelinuxboxHi ChunkzZ :)11:13
thelinuxboxmerry christmas, for tomorrow :P11:14
thelinuxboxif their are any other alternatives to building an iso from scratch that anyone could share it would be much appreciated, thanks :)11:51
thelinuxboxi installed live-build on my debian machine, it worked without any issue's, so it seems like the ubuntu build is broken :(14:35
daftykinshrmm why do people always want to reinvent the wheel?16:53
penguin42too round16:54
daftykins:D16:55
daftykinshow are things up north, penguin42?16:55
penguin42daftykins: OK, getting very little done16:55
daftykinshehe 'tis the season16:56
daftykinsi've definitely turned into a full-blown home owner, i want to go upstairs and put another coat of paint on a window instead of enjoy entertainment16:56
penguin42haha16:57
daftykinswow at Mozilla reviving Thunderbird, that's novel news16:57
zmoylan-piand they're going to keep adding feature to it till they finally add email? :-P16:58
daftykinsmaybe one day :D16:58
daftykinsfirst up is breaking all old legacy addon support, apparently16:58
zmoylan-pia mozilla speciality...16:58
daftykinsit's funny because i just got through heavily advising against going anywhere near Thunderbird to a mate in the US who for some reason is encountering a tonne of quirks in MS Outlook land :)16:59
zmoylan-pinot chuck out the baby apple level but still16:59
zmoylan-pithunderbird v outlook... stuck between rock and an awful place...17:41
daftykinswell i quickly learnt the problem sounded more like his workplaces' setup of hosted IMAP mailboxes rather than doing it right, but i've certainly never had Outlook crash for clients so i figured the laptops he has dished out must be quirky all of their own17:42
zmoylan-pilast time i installed outlook it was yonks ago. it was fairly crashy then...17:44
zmoylan-pimy main reason for hating it (beyond it been ms ::spit:: ) was the search was just so awful17:45
* penguin42 is curious what's wrong with Thunderbird (although I'm a mutt user so hey)17:47
zmoylan-pii used to use thunderbird ages back but it got slower and slower as they stuffed more things into it17:47
daftykinspenguin42: well it got dumped until now, for one - so it's been in ESR status for yonks - but when i put it in for a couple of clients it's just horrid to extract data from afterward17:49
daftykinsplus using a client in the first place is particularly outmoded now17:49
zmoylan-pii use claws email client atm.  but use evolution for archiving all my email to local store17:49
zmoylan-piclaws is tiny lite email client. fire up evolutuion once a week to pull stuff down17:50
thelinuxboxHi :)18:23
daftykinsah you're back18:24
daftykinsyeah don't waste your time reinventing the wheel, just get a server ISO and select nothing when tasksel runs18:25
thelinuxboxI sure am, ah that's a great idea, thanks very much! :D18:25
daftykinsnp18:26
thelinuxboxby selecting noting when tasksel runs, the server iso basically becomes what the alternative iso use to be before it got discontinued?18:26
thelinuxboxalternate*18:27
daftykinsit's been so long i forget what that even used to do18:28
daftykins!alternate18:28
lubotu3The alternate CD has been discontinued for the main Ubuntu distro, please use and report any bugs in the !LiveCD18:28
daftykinswow they updated something18:28
thelinuxbox:)18:28
daftykinsseems they do pack a bit of cruft into server these days versus say, debian net installs, but it's small enough still that it's pretty moot to be concerned18:29
daftykinsif you don't have 2GB spare, it's time to phone the museum18:29
zmoylan-pi2gb? luxury... in my day we had to compile uphill in the dark and rain there and back again...22:21
daftykinszmoylan-pi: :)23:30
daftykinszmoylan-pi: have you caught the update? https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/12/22/gemini_special/23:35
penguin42daftykins: I hope they leave the keytops blank23:39
daftykins;D23:39
