coolpolygonshello :D10:06
lubot<Jacob Kim> wait does this telegram sync what i write in the IRC10:08
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @Jacob Kim, Yes, it's bridged10:13
lubot<Jacob Kim> Cool xD10:13
redwolf[m]And Matrix / Riot too 😉10:14
lubot<Jacob Kim> @VikingRedwolf can i ask you what your design philosophies are?10:14
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @Jacob Kim, Philosophies?10:15
lubot<Jacob Kim> like, how you like to design UI10:15
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, 😢🎻10:15
lubot<Jacob Kim> or your preferred stye (minimalistic, skeuomoprphistic, etc)10:16
lubot<Jacob Kim> since i am still learning coding, i think i need to help with the artworks/design team and the documentations, but before i can do anything, I wanted to know how you like to do things10:17
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @Jacob Kim, It depends. I like minimal, simple environments, but visually rich. I don't like ultra flat themes because they're a design mistake (you can't distinguish between a menubar and a titlebar, or clearly see a combo box, for example)10:18
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @Schyken, Hola10:18
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, Ohai there. Top of the mornin to ya10:18
lubot<Jacob Kim> what's your opinion on KDE's UI and design?10:18
lubot<Schyken> @Jacob Kim, Pretty by default, ugly after I break it :310:19
lubot<Jacob Kim> 😆10:19
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @Jacob Kim, I don't like KDE widgets. It reminds me to Windows containers (boxes inside boxes). I honestly prefer GTK. But that's a matter of taste.10:20
lubot<Jacob Kim> hmm alright10:21
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, Aw, but I used to love those horribly insecure Windows 7 widgets!10:21
lubot<Jacob Kim> how are you planning to design Lubuntu Next's UI?10:21
lubot<Jacob Kim> LXQt seems to be the big stuff around here10:21
lubot<VikingRedwolf> Box is Qt compatible through the Kvantum engine. But we might introduce a new theme. Who knows... 😉10:22
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @Schyken, @Schyken 🇬🇧 🇪🇺 ?10:27
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, RaWr10:27
lubot<VikingRedwolf> Bloody British! 😁10:27
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, Yeeeee boi10:28
lubot<Schyken> I'm actually more Spanish than British, but hey, used to be royalty on both sides so I can't complain. I can put that on my resume next to "tried and failed vegan"10:28
lubot<VikingRedwolf> LOL10:28
lubot<VikingRedwolf> I DEMAND English and Scottish Unicode flags! 😐10:29
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, A bit annoying, innit?10:29
lubot<VikingRedwolf> Aye10:29
lubot<VikingRedwolf> England is not the UK10:29
lubot<Schyken> I think they recently added state flags for America 😆10:29
lubot<Schyken> So that's another stab10:29
lubot<VikingRedwolf> O.O10:29
lubot<VikingRedwolf> There. Want!10:30
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, But you can't tell Americans that. They will correct you no matter what :310:30
lubot<VikingRedwolf> For having state flags?10:30
lubot<Schyken> No, the English/UK think :P10:30
lubot<VikingRedwolf> Shipping an emoji applet in Lubuntu would be nice10:31
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @Schyken, I know😐10:31
lubot<AlFXLogic> what a productive conversation10:31
lubot<Schyken> That would really be cool. I didn't think it'd be useful when GNOME did it, but afterwards, it turns out emojis have uses!10:31
lubot<Schyken> @AlFXLogic, As always 😎10:32
lubot<VikingRedwolf> @AlFXLogic, Yeah 🤪10:32
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, WHY IS THAT EMOJI SO SMALL10:32
lubot<AlFXLogic> cant see that10:32

lubot<Wolfenprey> my life seems incomplete now10:33
lubot<VikingRedwolf> 🤪10:33
lubot<Wolfenprey> nopw10:33
lubot<Schyken> @VikingRedwolf, The funniest part is that it looks like a tiny face squinting with one eye wide open10:33
lubot<Schyken> So maybe it's the wrong nuts emoji10:33

lubot<tsimonq2> @Wolfenprey The kernel guy put another more up-to-date kernel on the bug report, please test :D16:20
lubot<Wolfenprey> Yep, here i go!16:21
lubot<Wolfenprey> @tsimonq2, All seem to work fine right here! :D17:09
lubot<tsimonq2> :D17:18
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/ab8Tbqs.jpg - so at least the latest bionic-desktop image starts - i would suggest to change the installer to lubuntu-next or so :P17:55
agaidahmm - and a little bit higher resolution in vbox would be nice to17:56
agaidao17:56
agaidaand pictures in the slide show that ask if one have installed lubuntu 14.04 are just a little bit outdated imho :)18:00
lubot<tsimonq2> @agaida, Hmm, I can't start it here18:03
lubot<tsimonq2> Not in QEMU18:03
agaidai have just vbox18:04
agaidaok, the bionic daily shouldn't mention 17.10 in plymouth18:06
lubot<tsimonq2> I know18:09
lubot<tsimonq2> We're working on it :P18:09
agaidakvm works fine here - ok, see a short lubuntu in plymouth, then black, after that ubiquity18:10
agaidalooks like a resolution of 1024x76818:11
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/vo8y2rd.jpg18:15
agaidadunno why i have 72 spawned kvm processes - but that should be a kvm thing18:17
lubot<VikingRedwolf> yup, I have to fix that18:22
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/941hLQ3.jpg -- hmm, setting a default window manager within the installation process would be fine18:34
lubot<VikingRedwolf> ha! I got stuck there18:35
redwolfand then I got a blank desktop, agaida18:35
agaidause choose and select plain openbox18:36
redwolftried, from /usr/bin or something. but really? looking for the bloody wm?18:36
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/r2NY0ap.jpg18:36
agaidaok - get a black screen - but this is fine i guess18:37
redwolfno, it's not! :(18:38
agaidaok, now the lxqt-session is started, screen still is black :)18:38
redwolfyou only get a (fancy ;) ) wallpaper18:39
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/IuDLBou.jpg18:39
agaidathat means: desktop is running18:40
redwolfyou can't do much from there18:40
lubot<Wolfenprey> nice wallpaper design!18:40
redwolfare you on Boxes? it was the only one that worked18:40
agaidaalt f2 start the lxqt-runner - works fine18:40
* redwolf kisses Wolfenprey18:40
redwolfnow execute the panel18:41
agaidano, this is an installed system in kvm18:41
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/vqnJdxf.jpg :)18:42
redwolfah18:42
agaidabut the better idea is to start qterminal in the runner18:42
redwolfaha18:43
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/D4UrV2T.jpg - the black empty bar is the unconfigured panel :)18:45
agaidaand maybe kvm vga std is not the best idea - i should start it wih some virtualized graphics18:46
agaidabeside of this - the installation work just fine18:47
agaida:P18:47
redwolfjesus, did I do that?18:48
agaidamaybe18:48
redwolfthat's a hell of an ugly panel18:48
agaidabut the fine thing about is: one could fix it18:49
agaidashouldn't be a big problem18:49
redwolfO.O18:51
agaidamaybe i'm to optimistic - but i've heared something about LXQt before - they say that it is easy to configure :P18:52
agaidabut first a little bit higher resoultion, 800x600 suck balls18:52
redwolf.___.18:56
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/UnoUqVK.jpg :)18:59
agaidaas i said - fully working, only a little bit black18:59
redwolfyes, as tsimonq2 said, the default settings are f*cked19:00
agaidawe will find them19:01
redwolfeeeewww, those icons!19:01

lubot<Wolfenprey> 😐19:02
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/Z78jPLK.jpg - so - not so bad right now19:03
agaidaredwolf: how is the settings package for lxqt named?19:05
redwolfthat's the problem, there's only one package for now: lubuntu-default-settings19:05
redwolfwe need to make two19:05
agaidaright19:05
lubot<tsimonq2> Ohhhhhh I couldn't freaking figure that out19:06
agaidabut thats easy19:06
redwolfjulien's task19:06
redwolfoh look who's coming :)19:06
agaidacome on - put some simple text files into a package and place them somewhere in the system is such big task?19:07
lubot<tsimonq2> @redwolf, When will he be done? 😉19:07
redwolfdunno :(19:07
lubot<tsimonq2> @agaida, They're already there, we need to split things19:07
agaidajust do it :D19:08
lubot<VikingRedwolf> (Document) http://vps.tsimonq2.net//file_3584.mp419:08
lubot<tsimonq2> @agaida, It's not as easy as you think19:08
agaidaand btw - i don't know nothing about ubuntu packaging - only a small bit about debian :P19:08
agaidait is19:08
lubot<tsimonq2> OK then split the settings package for us :P19:09

agaidaand btw - i wonder what lubuntu-core does in a lxqt installation19:10
lubot<tsimonq2> This is why19:11
agaidahttps://i.imgur.com/D76yqmb.jpg - ok, we should clean this up a little bit19:13

lubot<VikingRedwolf> sneaky!19:34
lubot<tsimonq2> ._____.19:34
lubot<tsimonq2> @julienlavergne @VikingRedwolf wxl: I've been thinking about Lubuntu Next more and more, and I know Lubuntu should continue to have i386 images, but I wonder if we should consider deprecating Lubuntu Next i386. It includes software that might not run well on i386 hardware etc. So my question is, is Next having i386 still something we want to do? I could go either way.20:00
lubot<VikingRedwolf> all distros are considering that. some already deprecated it.20:00
lubot<VikingRedwolf> not my call. but we should vote anyways20:00
lubot<tsimonq2> Right, to be clear, in regular LXDE Lubuntu, we still target older hardware in particular, so we need to keep i386 there. But Next is drifting from that, and I'm not sure it's needed.20:03
lubot<tsimonq2> I think I'm more interested in wxl and @julienlavergne's opinion because it's not a "product we ship" yet, so it's still our decision I think.20:03
lubot<VikingRedwolf> yes. and yes, it's our baby20:04
lubot<VikingRedwolf> we make it. if you don't like it, install Fedora (and die XD )20:05
lubot<tsimonq2> Hehe20:07
agaidatsimonq2: after looking at again it is still valid - you should fix your metapackages first20:25
lubot<tsimonq2> @agaida, What is broken?20:25
agaidanot broken - the right question is: What is to much in lubuntu-qt-desktop20:26
agaidahint: https://packages.ubuntu.com/bionic/lubuntu-qt-desktop20:27
agaidalubuntu-core20:27
agaidaLubuntu Desktop environment - minimal installation20:27
agaidaapt show ...20:27
lubot<tsimonq2> OHHHH20:28
lubot<tsimonq2> I GET IT20:28
lubot<tsimonq2> :D20:28
agaidaonly a remark: i was serious about fixing that first20:28
lubot<tsimonq2> agaida: That should be lubuntu-qt-core, can you throw me a PR or am I gonna be stuck doing that simple replacement? :P20:29
agaidai can make a PR if you make the meta packages available - otherwise i can send a patch to launchpad20:31
lubot<tsimonq2> GitHub.com/lubuntu-team/lubuntu-seeds20:31
agaidaand there are a few other things that don't fit well - and will make jbicha unhappy20:31
lubot<tsimonq2> That's where it needs to be fixed20:31
lubot<tsimonq2> What do you mean will make jbicha unhappy? :)20:32
agaidaok - i will write slow - the seeds are ok20:32
agaidabut20:32
agaidalubuntu-qt-desktop should in absolutely ___no___ way depend on lubuntu-core20:33
agaidaand this mess need to be fixed in the meta packages20:33
lubot<tsimonq2> Right, ok20:33
lubot<tsimonq2> Gotcha20:33
lubot<tsimonq2> Yeah, we don't have this in Git...20:34
agaidasecond and third in the metas: the note programm  is dead and qt420:34
agaidaand plasma-discover isn't exacly a good idea - i would split his out and (maybe) put in into the seed20:35
lubot<tsimonq2> I know, I'll likely deal with that mess tonight20:36
lubot<tsimonq2> Metapackages are going to need mangling20:37
agaidathat should solve the "problems" with iso start - right now the image start with lightdm instead of sddm20:37
lubot<tsimonq2> Right20:37
lubot<tsimonq2> Ok20:37
lubot<tsimonq2> I'll look into it when I get home20:37
lubot<tsimonq2> Because I agree, you're right.20:37
agaidaand the lubuntu-things will introduce some other problems like double pavucontrol and such things20:38
agaidaand pcmanfm and pcmanfm-qt20:38
lubot<tsimonq2> Right20:38
agaida(not that this is a bad things - both are good filemangers :D20:38

lubot<tsimonq2> @VikingRedwolf, We aren't?21:56
tsimonq2krytarik: ack21:56
lubot<VikingRedwolf> Maybe it's only me :/21:57
agaidatsimonq2: btw - while you are at it - you might find removing acpi-support useful - its handled by systemd now22:13
tsimonq2ack, thanks22:13
lubot<Wolfenprey> @tsimonq2, Done! 👍🏼22:20
agaidaand maybe make friends - ubuntu-minimal should not depend or recommend rsyslog - we have 2018 and systemd22:20

agaida:P22:20
lubot<VikingRedwolf> What a clean up you're doing, guys 😃22:26
agaidaredwolf: i was just looking at the seed22:30
agaidaand playing a little bit with dpkg -l *$search*22:31
tsimonq2agaida: Go ask in #ubuntu-release if you want that changed, I don't have access to do that.22:32
agaidanah - it isn't so important, it is only a not used deprecated service22:33
wxl@tsimonq2 @VikingRedwolf @julienlavergne I think we should continue to do i386. With Kubuntu getting an overwhelming demand for i386 when they considered dropping it, I see no reason why we should not follow suit. When the i386 stops being supported (like ppc), I'm totally behind getting rid of i386.22:59
