[01:08] hi, I'm wondering if the Ryzen NPT patch from 4.14 can be backported to the 16.04 HWE kernel. Documented here: https://level1techs.com/article/patch-npt-ryzen-better-performance [01:08] ^^^ Q from #ubuntu [01:20] Sean_McG: it'd be good to mention the mainline commit hash [01:29] OK, let me find it [01:31] kernel.org Git URL OK? [01:32] https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/arch/x86/kvm/svm.c?h=v4.15-rc9&id=15038e14724799b8c205beb5f20f9e54896013c3 [01:34] Thanks, so commit 15038e1 "KVM: SVM: obey guest PAT" [01:34] yessir [03:22] it would be helpful to have a bug report. === himcesjf_ is now known as him-cesjf [09:24] sbeattie: we carry that one in our downstream kernel, haven't filed it yet but it's on my TODO list. [09:25] it's a straight-forward cherry-pick IIRC [13:03] apw: Can you switch the mainline kernels to being compiled on Bionic so they will compile with the retpoline-supporting GCC 7.3? [21:34] Hello. I have just figured out that my Bluetooth woes in artful are due to incompatibility between the Intel 8260 wifi and bluetooth firmwares. Fixed firmware landed in linux-firmware.git in December: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/commit?id=fdee922a785212be7ccced6809b337290fdac971 but has not yet made it in to bionic. [21:34] 1) Is this something someone would consider SRUing for artful? [21:35] 2) Is there a planned resync of bionic's linux-firmware with upstream, or should I file a bug about that separately?
