I have a fresh installation of Kubuntu 16.04 LTS. It looks to me like many settings are not saved. Forgive my lack of proper terminology as I'm not well-versed in Kubuntu, but for instance time/date format settings, disabling the preview in the taskbar comes back after restart (and many other similar settings I change come back after restart). Anyone knows where I can start troubleshooting this? === ramon is now known as Guest31059 === sonnekoenig is now known as sonnekoenig_ === sonnekoenig_ is now known as sonnekoenig [13:07] Hiyas all === Guest20714 is now known as Haudegen === mohammad is now known as Guest35019 === Guest35019 is now known as mohammad_ === mohammad_ is now known as Guest60040 [15:26] hola [15:30] hi diego25 [15:31] how learn hacking [15:31] not here.. [15:31] why [15:32] !hacking [15:32] A hacker is a person who delights in having an intimate understanding of the internal workings of a system, computers and computer networks in particular, as defined by Request for Comments (RFC) 1392 - i.e. a good programmer -- crackers on the other hand break systems, see also !piracy [15:32] !piracy [15:32] piracy discussion and other questionably legal practices are not welcome in the Ubuntu channels. Please take this discussion elsewhere or abstain from it altogether. This includes linking to pirated software, music, and video. Also see !guidelines and !o4o [15:33] diego25: linux isn't for hackers, you are misinformed [15:37] I saw Ubuntu 18.04 will be X not Wayland. is it the same for kubuntu? [15:37] wakingrufus: yes [15:38] ah ok. :/ It should be feasible to swap it manually though right? [15:40] yes at the login page [15:40] not recommended with nvidia gpus yet === mohammad is now known as Guest27722 === malibu is now known as Guest60225 [16:14] Anybody here? [16:15] How can I check If a TV-Satellite-Card is active? [16:27] if it has an output signal [16:27] lspci will list it , but won't tell you much else [16:36] Thanks, but after what do I have to search, I have at least 25 lines === malotru is now known as Guest3598 [16:39] try sudo lshw -C video , that will list your graphics card, but it might also show your TV-Satellite-Card [16:41] Is the KDE GTK bug still in Kubuntu 16.04.3 with also xenial-backports, and also with kubuntu-backports or do one of those solve it? [16:42] I mean the GTK tooltip font color [17:09] Does anyone know if the GTK tooltip color is solved in Xenial [17:17] Hello! Anyone here using wayland on 17.10? [17:27] luc4: only with nouveau on nvidia gpus and then with very limited, no widgets etc. AMD gpus seem to work on wayland with the recommended driver, afaik [17:28] Does anyone know if the GTK tooltip color is solved in Xenial [17:29] zomaar: ask in #ubuntu [17:29] BluesKaj: limitation is only widgets? can I install in kubuntu what is needed to have both x11 and wayland for the same user? [17:30] It's a KDE specific issue [17:30] As far as I know at least [17:30] BluesKaj: I understand nvidia is a mess, but I disable that and only use intel hd [17:30] luc4: yes make you Desktop choice at the login page [17:30] your [17:31] luc4: optimus? [17:31] BluesKaj: is this the proper installation method? https://askubuntu.com/questions/909565/how-to-get-a-wayland-session-in-kubuntu [17:32] BluesKaj: I blacklisted nouveau and selected intel hd from the nvidia settings. [17:34] luc4: yes install plasma-workspace-wayland , that should work [17:36] luc4: plasma-workspace-wayland brings all the required dependencies with it according to my package manager reference [17:41] BluesKaj: thanks [17:42] luc4: good luck [17:56] I mean that GIMP, Inkscape etc. will have unreadable tooltips [17:57] I know it is solved in Yakkety, but I wonder about xenial-backports [17:57] Kubuntu-backports (I think) features a higher version of KDE than Yakkety though [17:58] Ie. Yakkety has 5.8.5 or something and Kubuntu-backports has 5.9.5 [17:58] So I assume it is solve there too [17:58] But I wonder about the regular xenial-backports [18:13] Vasu Muppalla was added by: Vasu Muppalla === claydoh_ is now known as Guest23934 [18:44] so 17.10 is not supported or 17.04?
