[00:08] how do I take a screenshot in Lubuntu 17.10 [00:09] with your key board print key [00:09] or in your menu go to screenshooter [00:10] ok thanks [00:10] printscrren worked [00:10] the screenshooter is new to me [00:10] :D [00:10] no [00:10] np [00:11] I don't see screenshooter on my menu [00:11] screendump appears with autocomplete [00:11] but gives an error, can't read /dev/vcsa [00:12] apt can't find screenshooter [00:13] I guess it is in svce4-screenshooter [00:15] I now see screenshot, under accessories, and it has a typical interface === lynn is now known as Guest88887 === Guest88887 is now known as gryphon [05:38] Anyone awake here....? [05:39] I need some help with a USB mouse not working. [05:40] Please be more specific. [05:41] I have a RadioShack (actual manufacturer: Pixart) USB optical mouse that will not work when plugged in. The optical light works, though. [05:41] oddly enough, the device is registered with the kernel via dmesg. [05:42] Hm. [05:42] Maybe try #ubuntu for this one, sorry. [05:42] Alright. Thanks. [12:04] hi [12:05] how can I resize title bar buttons in gnome appòications? [12:06] any ideas? [12:21] you can't. titlebar are defined by themes [12:41] redwolf: I suppose I should find a way to change adwaita (supposed theme) [12:42] what OS are you using now? [12:42] Lubuntu ships a clone of Radiance [12:55] cristian_c, you can grab more themes in gnome-look.org [13:04] redwolf: do you mean 16.04 or 17.10? [13:04] all of them [13:04] I mean Lubuntu, btw [13:05] probably, gnome applications (in Lubuntu) use adwaita theme for windows [13:05] Lubuntu uses Openbox for windows borders and GTK for controls, so you can grab gtk themes from gnome-look.org, and openbox themes from box-look.org [13:06] for CSD applications (the new gnome3 windows) you'll use the gtk theme, and some might not have support for CSD [13:06] redwolf: I think changing theme for whole lubuntu applications is rather excessive when that issue affects just gnome applications [13:07] and not all gnome applications (for example, evince uses lubuntu default theme for titlebar) [13:07] no, some use Openbox and some use CSD [13:08] client side decoration [13:08] I know too little about that subject [13:08] yes [13:08] those are windows borders used in new Gnome3 apps [13:09] I say: for example lubuntu uses unity buttons for title bar in gedit [13:09] unity? no [13:10] I don't know if gnome shell has same style [13:10] gnome-shell uses mutter, another window manager. we use openbox [13:12] beyond button style; I don't know how to change theme for particular applications [13:13] that's not possible [13:13] respect to change the whole, lubuntu theme [13:13] ah, ok [13:13] theme applies to all apps [13:13] redwolf: almost every app [13:13] no, all of them [13:14] except apps that don't have support for csd [13:14] open lxappearance. gtk/widgets section will control the widgets/controls and CSD, and window titlebar will section control the window borders for openbox [13:15] CSD is part of the GTK theme. openbox is the border for "traditional" apps [13:20] I know this can be a bit confusing. I can't imagine what will happen when we ship Qt apps :| [13:32] now, I've tried lxappearance, then window border tab (fifth tab from left) and I've chsnged theme from lubuntu-default to Bear2, for example [13:32] and then Apply. This has not effect on all apps [13:32] it has no effect on CSD apps [13:33] before that, I've also made two screens that explain very well which I mean [13:33] gedit, weather, todo, etc. the normal apps (audacious, gimp, libreoffice, galculator, etc ) will change their border [13:36] first screen: https://imgur.com/a/gzHDf [13:36] second screen: https://imgur.com/a/yUDSe [13:37] (made by mtPaint) [13:39] redwolf: unfortunately, Bear2 (for example) does not apply to gedit [13:59] no, because gedit uses CSD, and that's controlled by GTK [14:50] redwolf: ok [20:11] currently using Lubuntu 16.04 and have 4 different desktops available at login, invoked by "lxsession -s desktopname" runtime arguments. Can't find ANY such documentation for lxqt-session. Does lxqt-session have runtime arguments to invoke varying desktop layouts of LXQT desktop? [20:15] yes: https://www.mankier.com/1/lxqt-leave [20:16] https://github.com/lxde/lxqt-session [20:26] Thanks VikingRedwolf, but I have been all over that page and can't find how to do that. "man lxsession" in LXDE provides runtime argument/flags and I'm able to boot into varying 'paradigms' using those flags. For instance, a desktop file in usr/share/xsessions, with contents "/usr/bin/lxsession -s Mimetic-Unity -e LXDE" allow me to boot into a custom Unity-like environment. Where is the LXQT documentation to re-create this fun [20:27] sorries :(
