Al3xHi all, I would like to rebuild the ubuntu-mate kernel for Rpi3 from source and get the same kernel version 4.4.38. Use apt-get install kernel-source, but the Make file show that the version is 4.4.98 !10:48
Al3xHow could I get the same source code that the original ubuntu-mate image ?10:48
Al3xI can't find the any version 4.4.38 on launchpad in the raspi2 branche, the lastest version is linux-raspi2 4.4.0-1082.90.10:50
Al3xCould you help me please ?10:50
Al3xThe release linux-raspi2 4.4.0-1082.90 correspond to the  4.4.98 kernel version.10:52
alkisgAl3x: apt-get source gets the latest version10:56
alkisgGo to launchpad and download the one you want10:56
alkisgBtw, ubuntu-mate has no kernel,it's a desktop environment10:56
alkisgYou can ask in #ubuntu-kernel for kernel-related questions...10:57
alkisgLaunchpad keeps all builds btw10:58
alkisgAl3x: this is the publishing history: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi2/+publishinghistory10:59
alkisgYou can locate the build page and the download from there10:59
alkisgE.g. maybe you're looking for this one: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi2/4.4.0-1023.29 - the source is at the bottom11:05

Al3xalkisg: Thanks for you help, I found the information here https://people.canonical.com/~kernel/info/kernel-version-map.html. But the the kernel version 4.4.38 is not referenced, so the release I'm looking for is between the 4.4.0-40 and the 4.4.0-42. The 4.4.0-41 is not reference in the publishing history.12:47
alkisgAl3x: first, better ask in #ubuntu-kernel. Second, are you sure you're looking for 4.4.38 and not 4.4.0-38?13:44
alkisgWhy the so strict requirement btw?13:46
alkisgIf it's not there in the publishing history, afaik it was never published in Ubuntu13:48
alkisgMaybe the sources from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.4.38/ could be of use to you13:48
Al3xalkisg, I would like to be able to build the exact kernel that the one provide raspberrypi ubuntu-mate sd card image.15:37
Al3xThe image is distributed by ubuntu mate here https://ubuntu-mate.org/raspberry-pi/15:38
Al3xAnd it is really strange that the kernel version was not aligned with a release, so it is possible that the code has some patch not applied in the mainline.15:39
alkisgAl3x: the package in that image is: raspberrypi-firmware (1.20161215-1~xenial1.0) xenial; urgency=medium15:54
alkisgIt's not linux-image-raspi215:54
alkisgHere's the build page: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-pi-flavour-makers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+sourcepub/7476907/+listing-archive-extra15:56

TalikkafIs that swahili? Sounds familiar.17:23
alkisgIt's from lion king, "it means no worries"17:29
doge-dogeis anyone else's network status icon both show up in the "notification area" and "indicator applet"17:56
diogenes_doge-doge, screenshot?17:57
doge-dogethe indicator applets have icons with too far spacing in 17.10, I personally like previous versions17:57
doge-dogeit's weird how Thunderbird gets its own applet even when it's not running...17:59
doge-dogeI suggest removing that bell until new notifications are queued17:59
doge-dogeyou know this might be the result of me running arc-theme18:06
Talikkafalkisg: Indeed. Swahili. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_9QfBSbw8g&t=12s.23:09
