gopalhow to do this ?  Let's see how fast the battery drains. To do this, please attach the output of "grep . /sys/class/power_supply/*/*" just before shutdown, and then leave the laptop for like 1 hour, boot it again and attach the output of "grep . /sys/class/power_supply/*/*" and please do this test for both bad and good case, where good case means you can remove the battery and plug it again after shutdown10:11
gopalgrep say : Is a directory10:11
gopalhow to find output ?10:12

simpledatHi11:27
simpledatI am trying to install it says "Unsafe swap space detected"11:27
laceylaneysimpledat: Select (Try Ubuntu) instead of (Install Ubuntu). When the desktop has loaded open up a terminal window and type (sudo swapoff --all) without the brackets. Once done close the terminal window and proceed to install from the installer icon on the desktop.11:39
simpledatlaceylaney: But why this error message at all?11:40
laceylaneyI think there is some form of bug were the installer doesn't properly create a swap partition or something like that....11:41
laceylaneyHave a look at >> https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Unsafe+swap+space+detected+lubuntu&oq=Unsafe+swap+space+detected+lubuntu&aqs=chrome..69i57.3072j0j1&client=ubuntu&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-811:41
simpledatWhy are the lubuntu devs not fixing this bug?11:43
laceylaneyI have no idea....11:43
laceylaneyIt might actually be fixed in the newest release, but I can't tell....11:43
simpledatlaceylaney: I used Lubuntu 17.10.111:45
laceylaneyLet us know if you get sorted....11:45
krytarikNot every issue is trivial to fix - also see LP #1205397 for more info.11:45

simpledatn0a110w: Imm getting the message with Lubuntu 17.10.1 installing onto a fresh unformatted virtual disk in virtualbox11:46
laceylaneyI need to start looking on launchpad more often lol11:46
simpledatWierd, because I not getting this error message by installing Xubuntu12:06
krytarikYes, because that doesn't use zRAM.12:13
s10gopal https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198665 can be fixed?18:08
ubottubugzilla.kernel.org bug 198665 in Power-Off "Battery drains when laptop is off (shutdown) . WOL disabled and no usb device connected." [High,Needinfo]18:08
wxls10gopal: it looks like you're in conversation with the right people about it no the bug report, so why ask here?18:09
wxls10gopal: if it's a problem with the upstream kernel, the kernel developers are the most likely folks to resolve the issue.18:10
s10gopalwxl: i dont know i should wait for fix or switch back to windows18:10
s10gopalwxl: same issue with ubuntu kernel too18:10
wxls10gopal: i don't know. what do you do when windows has a problem? do you switch to something else?18:10

Thedarkb-X40Minor issue, you know when you open the terminal and the prompt is prefixed with username@computer20:22
Thedarkb-X40How do I change my computer's name?20:23
Thedarkb-X40I need to give myself plausible deniability for something.20:23
* Thedarkb-X40 is kidding20:23
ThedarkbFixed, it's in /etc/hostname20:31

Motoko_Kusanagihey folks, I'm using LXLE with 3 panels, and the logout box always appears on the right monitor. Looks like it's managed by "lxsession-logout" - does anyone know how I can make it use my center panel? Tried using --screen and --display options without success.21:05
redwolfit's a launcher, Motoko_Kusanagi. you should be able to add another on any panel21:06
Motoko_Kusanagiredwolf: have all my panel stuff set up just fine, all the main items on the center panel (inc. menu), and just task switchers left and right... but whenever I go to logout, the box appears on the right screen :\21:09
Motoko_KusanagiI can see "quit_manager/command=lxsession-logout" in my lxsession conf, and that command accepts screen and display params, but still no joy21:10
redwolfah, sorry, you mean the dialog21:10
Motoko_Kusanagicorrect21:10
cristian_credwolf, an user has suggested me to install gnome tweak tool. I did it, but even if changes were recorder by the application. that has have been not effect on theme settings21:10
redwolfhmm... maybe wmctrl can control that window, but I never tried that21:10
redwolfgnome-tweak-tool? what for?21:10
Motoko_Kusanagiredwolf: thanks, I'll have a look21:10
redwolfsorry I can't help more21:11
Motoko_Kusanaginp21:11
cristian_credwolf: I've tried also to change  values in settings.ini, and again changes are saved but they  have no effects on window theme21:11
redwolfI see. tsimonq2 if you find info about this, it would be nice21:12
cristian_credwolf: gtk developer says issue does not depends on gtk, but is related to system21:12
redwolfI couldn't tell. but if the problem is the window itself, it's a wm class problem (so openbox)21:13
cristian_che's sure vzlues in settings.ini are read21:13
lubot<tsimonq2> I don't know if LXLE does different things to their packages, sorry21:13
cristian_credwolf: for example: 'Software' that replaces lubuntu software center21:13
cristian_cofficially21:13
cristian_credwolf: ah, ok21:14
cristian_cof course21:14
redwolfbut this is Lubuntu, as tsimonq2 says, we can't be sure about what LXLE team did inside LXDE desktop21:14
redwolfsame for Peppermint or any other derivative / fork21:15
cristian_cI've changed theme from adwait to lubuntu-default, but it has no effects, so maybe you're right21:15
redwolftheme and any app you could install can't possibly affect the behaviour of windows21:16
cristian_credwolf: I've tried lxde on archlinux too, todsy, I'll try also on fedora lxde21:16
redwolfyou could try Lubuntu :|21:16
cristian_credwolf: yeah, I already use Lubuntu21:17
redwolfah, sorries, I thought you were using LXLE21:17
cristian_cI'm testing the existence of the isse on another distros too21:17
redwolfnice21:17
cristian_c*of the issue21:17
cristian_carchlinux lxde seems not affected by the issue regarding Gedit, but I'llctry also on fedora in order to be sure21:18
redwolfok21:18
redwolflet us know!21:18
cristian_cok21:18
cristian_credwolf: ebassi suggests to change css of the theme, anyway21:19
redwolfO.o21:19
cristian_cand I suppose, to rebuild the theme package21:19
redwolfcss can't control windows either21:19
cristian_credwolf: you said sizemof buttons is not adjustable by GUI21:19
cristian_c*from gui21:19
redwolfthemes are only for appearance. not apps position or windows sizes21:20
cristian_cah, ok21:20
redwolfyou'd have the same problems with the Adapta, Elementary or Adwaita themes21:20
cristian_cyeah, Gnome-software (pre-installed in Lubuntu) and gedit use adwaita as default theme21:21
cristian_cbut theme can be changed in settings.ini, in .config/gtk3.0, in lubuntu home21:22
cristian_c(or by gnome tweak tool)21:22
redwolfwell, not really .we already discussed this. those are CSD windows, controlled by the gtk theme Lubuntu Box21:22
redwolftheme should be changed only with the LXAppearance tool21:23
redwolfediting .config/gtk-3.0 might destabilise your open / save dialogs or make worse things21:23
cristian_cyeah, during this time, gtk developer says gtk theme works as expected21:23
Motoko_Kusanagiawesome, fixed one issue: primary monitor being reset after login (removed dualDisplay from autostart :P)21:24
redwolf:)21:24
Motoko_Kusanaginow if I could just figure out how to get lxsession-logout to appear in the middle, my OCD would be satisfied :D21:24
cristian_credwolf: current system theme is lubuntu-default, as lizted in lxappearance, but some apllications ignore it21:24
cristian_cfor example, gnome aoftware, that has replaces lsc21:25
redwolfno they don't. which ones?21:25
redwolfgnome-software and gedit use a slightly different window borders and ambiance-like buttons, but it's still Lubuntu theme21:25
redwolfdo you remember I talked to you about the CSD windows a couple days ago? ;)21:26
cristian_cyeah, lubuntu defalt has a grey titlebar (with gradient)21:26
redwolfyes, and a white-ish titlebar for CSD apps21:26
redwolfit was impossible to make them look in a more uniform way21:27
redwolfI tried though21:27
cristian_credwolf: but close , minimize and maximize buttons displayed in gnome-spftware are not the same buttons that in lubuntu default theme21:27
redwolfno, they're rendered by gtk, not by the window manager itself. so they look a bit different21:27
cristian_cI made also a screenahot some days ago21:28
cristian_credwolf: yeah, you're right , they are rendeed by gtk21:28
redwolfyes21:28
cristian_cand I'd like to change the se buttons21:28
redwolfthen you'll have to select another gtk theme21:29
cristian_creplacing the vuttons, , if there are no tricks21:29
cristian_credwolf: ah, ok21:29
cristian_cso, lubunt-default theme cannot be selected21:29
redwolfit can, you had it21:29
cristian_cI mean, if a change gtk theme to lubuntu-default, it doesn't work21:29
redwolfI think I'm not explaining myself21:30
cristian_c'you'll have to select another gtk theme'21:30
redwolfLubuntu theme includes a gradient grey titlebar for gtk2 apps, and a ambiance-like for gtk3 apps (like software and gedit)21:30
cristian_cambiance21:31
redwolfthey look different. period. if you want them to look different, just select another theme in box LXAppearance gtk and   borders21:31
cristian_cso, I've to figure out where ambiance setting is locsted21:31
cristian_credwolf: in Borders: Theme tab has Lubuntu-default selected, Titlebar tab  has just font size settings for title, and third tab has font settings for menu21:37
redwolfyes, and first tab has gtk21:37
redwolfI recommend you to go to https://www.gnome-look.org and look for more themes21:37
cristian_cdo you mean about instalkig a new theme and change the lubuntu-default theme to a gtk 3 theme?21:38
cristian_cfor all lubuntu applications21:39
cristian_c?21:39
redwolflubuntu-default already is a gtk3 and gtk2 theme (and openbox)21:39
redwolfbut yes, to try something else21:39
redwolffor ALL applications in your desktop21:39
cristian_credwolf: ok, but I don't have issues with lubuntu applications, except gnome software and suchlike21:40
redwolfthen try another theme. that's all I can recommend you21:40
cristian_cbut I understand what ypu say21:40
cristian_c*you21:40
redwolf:)21:40
cristian_credwolf: ok, but I don't know which themes have effect and which not21:41
cristian_cI've already tried some theme in Theme tab, and they had no effects on buttons, which are rendered by gtk and not by window manager,, as you said21:42
redwolfthen download more21:42
cristian_cok21:42
cristian_cunfortunately, again , if I chosse Clearlooks-olive from Theme tab and then Apply21:45
cristian_ctitlebar becomes green in almost all the applications21:46
redwolfhttps://www.gnome-look.org/browse/cat/135/ord/latest/21:46
cristian_cwhile gnome software continies to have grey titlebat21:46
cristian_c*grey lubuntu-default titlebar21:46
redwolfClearlooks is a very old theme. it has no support for CSD windows21:46
redwolfplease, download a NEW theme from that website21:46
cristian_cso, also titlebar ia not renedered by window amanger in thia case21:47
cristian_cok, I've just did a test21:47
tsimonq2redwolf: Like the Lubuntu Arc theme? .___.21:47
cristian_cok21:47
* tsimonq2 runs21:47
redwolf.___.21:47
redwolfyes, like the forthcoming Lubuntu Arc theme ;)21:47
cristian_cI've found arc openbox theme21:55
cristian_cin gnome look, dated 201721:55
redwolfthere's Arc for everything out there21:55
cristian_cok, but gnome look search has given a few clues, in results, about search string' lubunt arch theme' or 'lubuntu arc'21:56
redwolf"Lubuntu Arc" will come in the next Lubuntu version21:57
cristian_cok22:00
cristian_credwolf: again, arc openbox theme has been properly applied and all windows have accepted the theme (chromium included), but gnome software does not apply the theme22:08
cristian_cand arc is a recent theme (not old one)22:08
