=== FrankF1 is now known as FrankF === FrankF1 is now known as FrankF [07:18] hello friends [07:18] o/ [07:19] can anyone help me with setting lxpanel in the background so windows can go over it? [07:19] i replaced openbox with jwm though [07:20] i did not set anything in jwm related to the lxpanel, so i am not sure why it sets itself above everything else [07:20] i thought the window manager is supposed to handle which windows get which layer [07:21] right click panel > panel settings > advanced tab > automatic hiding [07:21] no, i don't want it to hide [07:22] i want it to be visible at all times, but when i move a window above it, the window to cover it [07:22] sorry pZombie all i had [07:22] i tried un-checking "make window managers treat the panel as dock" but it seems to ignore that with jwm [07:23] hemimaniac if you uncheck this on your side, (given you did not mess with the default windows manager), does it allow windows to go above? [07:25] nope i didn't, as im happy with the panel hiding till i drag the mouse down [07:25] i am not asking if you did :D [07:25] i am asking if when you uncheck it, it would allow windows to go above [07:26] as in, can you try and report? [07:28] it still goes to the hide default [11:57] JUST KIDDING jk^ [12:06] aloha [16:26] I'm having trouble mounting a USB floppy drive [16:26] Error mounting /dev/sdb at /media/beno/disk: Command-line `mount -t "auto" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid" "/dev/sdb" "/media/beno/disk"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: /media/beno/disk: can't read superblock on /dev/sdb. [16:47] hi all [16:48] i don't know what version of lubutu install for old eee pc pacarbell. 32 or 64 ? [16:50] old old eeepc 701 32bit [16:50] pacardbell depends on which hardware is in it [17:11] lili, How old is your computer? [17:13] i dont now. i recherche now [17:17] lili, Do you know what processor is in it? [17:24] i dont know use vista for know this infomation [17:25] were i can see that on vista. [17:26] ok i find it [17:28] lili, system properties [17:28] amd athlon(tm) processor L110 1.20 GHz [17:28] ram 1 Go [17:29] it's old? [17:31] 32bit for this good idea? or 64 is possible? [17:31] if it's 64 bit capable, use 64 bit [17:32] i dont know if it's 64bit capable. [17:33] in c:\windows, is there a \system and a \system32? [17:33] wxl, That doesn't mean anything. [17:34] Thedarkb: afaik, you don't get the \system32 unless you've got wow, which you'd only have if you had 64 bit [17:34] wxl, System32 has been a thing since windows 95 [17:34] Well, technically Windows 3.11 [17:34] it's a question of both [17:34] You get both on every version of windows [17:35] https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15056/windows-7-32-64-bit-faq [17:36] i dont want instal a windows on but a lubutu [17:36] but you're on windows, no? [17:36] y [17:36] and you're trying to figure out whether or not to do 32 or 64 bit lubuntu, no? [17:36] y [17:36] so ^^^ there's your instructions to use windows to find out whether or not you're 64 bit capable [17:36] if you are, get 64 bit [17:36] if you're not, get 32 bit [17:38] ok thanks i must moove [17:38] lili, wait [17:39] lili, It supports 64 bit. [17:39] The Athlon L110 is a 64 bit chip [18:06] wow, an L110 [18:06] the only machines to use that CPU were some "netbook" subnotebooks from Gateway and Packard Bell [18:07] Honestly, I'd just use TinyCore linux on those. [18:07] no idea why they were calling it an "Eee PC" ... [18:07] Their english isn't great. [18:07] What do you think I should put on a T41p? [18:07] IBM t41p [18:07] Think Lubuntu's light enough? [18:08] I'd think so [18:08] My X40 struggles with LXDE [18:08] But I like openbox so that's not a big deal [18:09] I run openbox with fbpanel on that. [21:40] hello, I'm looking for a distro to run on a Atom + ION nettop that I want to do simple web browsing, play media, and act as gateway for a stub network (wifi connecting to AP as client, then run a nat gateway w/ dhcp through the ethernet port). Will lubuntu be able to get this done?
