=== Nathan_ is now known as kernal [05:18] I changed a few keyboard shortcuts by accident, and I want to reset them to default. I tried 'gsettings reset-recursively org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys' but that didn't fix it [05:21] Quenz, try new user [05:21] diogenes_ What if I want to keep my username/folder? [05:21] you keep it [05:22] it won't affect it [05:41] hola a todos [05:41] hola [05:41] como estas diogenes [05:42] bueno y tu? [05:53] diogenes_ You mean I just make a new user, and that will reset keyboard shortcuts sytem wide? [05:53] Or you mean make a new user and run the command there? [05:55] Quenz, you just try if the keyboard shortcuts work as expected [05:56] that's it [05:56] then you can remove the new user [05:57] diogenes_ So I just simply make a new user, that's it? I don't even have to log in to it? [05:57] yes you log in to it? [05:58] obviously [06:04] Quenz: or you can just use the login as guest functionality [06:05] alkisg And I don't need to do anything while in the account? Just log in the log back out? [06:05] Where did you change the keyboard shortcuts from? From which interface? [06:06] Open a terminal, run: `dconf watch /`, then open that interface again, change one shortcut, and in the terminal you'll see which dconf key was affected [06:22] any1 here [06:22] yep [06:23] so i hve a rdp thinbook with ubuntu mate preinstalled. It has a user RDP. It does not ask me any password while booting, but if i try to change anything like create a user or uodate any software, it asks me password [06:23] so what i the default password of the system? [06:24] This is related to your vendor, not standard ubuntu mate [06:24] no idea bud [06:24] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LostPassword [06:25] rdp_, they should have installed in oem mode [06:27] ok so if in oem mode how do i do anything [06:27] or i just install ubuntu [06:28] I pasted a link with a how-to recover a password [06:28] You can follow that [06:28] ok ok doing that now [06:39] alkisg Thank you, that solved it [06:39] Found what I was looking for with that command [06:40] Cool [06:40] Now I want to reset startup programs. I tried using that command for the same thing, but I guess it's not controlled with dconf. Any ideas anyone? [06:40] I accidentally added a few, but I don't know which ones, so I just want to reset the whole thing [06:41] They're stored in /home/username/.config/autostart [06:41] Just delete everything in that dir [06:41] Okie doke, thank you [06:41] np [06:57] Thanks, deleting autostart directory worked [06:58] How can I delete or disable the bottom panel without losing its default settings forever? I don't want it there now, but I might change my mind later, so I'd like to be able to get its default settings back if I need to [06:58] The default settings are never lost [06:58] You can reset and get to them [07:15] When you right click to delete the bottom panel it warns about settings being lost [07:16] It should say "custom settings" then there [08:02] hello [08:02] Hello [08:03] guys I have problems with the audio in ubuntu mate on rasberry pie 3 [08:03] I need a hand [08:06] I'm really astonished about how many people run PI nowadays [08:07] it makes and impression that at least 30% of users are on PI [08:07] It was marketed wrong, people are thinking it can be a desktop pc :D [08:07] maybe it will become the replacement one day [08:08] Its cpu was designed to be an (old) mobile phone [08:08] lfvp, so what problem are you facing? [08:08] It's 50 times slower than an i3... I doubt it will replaces desktops anytime soon [08:09] yeah it's meant for education purpose mainly [12:37] hello [12:37] hey jack [12:37] hey [12:38] how you been? [12:41] That's ok,take a look at ,for the first time to use ubuntu mate [12:41] How could not [12:42] mate is nice [12:43] Yes,Ithink so,too [12:44] Sometimes there will be a point card [12:44] coffee time lol [12:45] Where are you from? [12:47] I am Chinese [12:51] I am in Canada [12:51] so english [12:52] you are in China? [12:53] oh,yes,im in china [12:55] You're using raspberry pi? [12:56] no ,, using a amd 990fxudp [12:56] 8 core [12:56] works good with ubuntu/server/mate [12:59] They are very interesting, isn't it? [12:59] yes [12:59] I got wordpress install locally ,, to build a site [13:00] I am making a voice assistant [13:02] thats sounds interesting [13:03] But it's not going very well. [13:03] ... [13:05] My memory card is broken...(@.@) [13:05] jack_, what's wrong? [13:06] what? [13:07] It's broken. [13:08] Sorry,my English may not be very good. [13:09] so hopefully you understand that. [13:12] your english is fine [13:12] jack_, what is broken? [13:12] what do you mean memory card? [13:12] SD card? or what? [13:14] It is an Micro SD card. [13:16] jack_, and you're using a PI right? [13:17] Yes,Raspberry pi [13:18] omg as I said in the morning, PI becomes like a plague [13:18] more and more people are using it [13:20] It's great!!! [13:21] I never said it was not great, I just said that a small thing that was made for educational purpose is slowly replacing the traditional computers. [13:21] it's a revolution [13:23] Card Computer! [13:25] Bye,I went to bed!!! [13:25] good night [13:26] Nice to meet you [13:27] good night [15:16] Hey there [15:21] Hi @ all [15:22] I'm configuring ubuntu mate for my parents right now and i'm wondering, wether there is half german, half english in the system controlpanel. Does anyone know how to fix this? [15:23] Which mate version is that? [15:24] mom [15:24] 1.16 [15:24] I mean, which Ubuntu MATE version, is it 16.04? [15:25] 16.04 LTS [15:25] Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS has MATE 1.12 [15:25] Why do you have 1.16? [15:26] i installesd 1.16 manually [15:26] *installed [15:26] OK, then you somehow missed the translations [15:26] Reinstall 16.04 with the normal mate version [15:27] i upgraded all translations. language-de and language-de-base [15:27] and the gonem ones [15:27] *gnome [15:27] Manual installations are not supported in #ubuntu channels... [15:27] Only the ones found in the ubuntu repositories [15:27] kk i will reinstall [15:27] ok [15:29] thanks so far i will see, what reinstall will show [15:42] so complete reinstall with all packages and used laguages. Same thing. locale-german and german-base are installed [15:46] am i allowed to post links here? i would like to show an screenshot, where the problem can be seen [15:49] !screenshot [15:49] Screenshots can be made with the [PrtScr] button. Want to show us a screenshot of your problem? Upload an image to http://imgur.com/ and link the created page here. [15:49] Although, I'm sure we'll just see some german and some english [15:49] Which is to be expected when you manually install things [15:50] The question is, does that problem exist in stock 16.04 or not [15:51] yes it's 16.04 lts stock from original website [15:51] But you manually modified the versions [15:51] clean install [15:51] no [15:51] If it exists in 16.04, some german guy needs to do the translations [15:51] There's a page that lists how much percent is done in each language [15:52] okay, i will search for [15:53] the tricky thing is my paren's aren't good in english and it's a bad feeling, when half of the things are in english [15:54] thanks so far [18:09] What's the best way to scale a Hi-DPI screen in 17.10? [18:10] Also, is there a way to use MATE 1.20 in 17.10? [18:12] Desposyni: 17.10 uses MATE 1.18, which doesn't have HiDPI support - you could fake it by setting env variables inside your ~/.xsessionrc file: `export GDK_SCALE=2` and `export GDK_DPI_SCALE=0.5` [18:14] Desposyni: you might want to also add `export QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0` and `export QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2` to support Qt apps (e.g. vlc) [18:15] Desposyni: you'll also need to double your font DPI (Appearance -> Font -> Details...) [18:15] Be warned, though, some things might break [18:16] Also, I would advise against using MATE 1.20 in 17.10 - there's no PPA as far as I know and I have a feeling that a lot of things will break [18:18] Desposyni: after setting the env variables, you'll need to log out and back in for the changes to take effect [18:24] That's more steps than I was expecting. My friend should be on here to ask more. He's new to Maté and Linux, and he's just installed 17.10 [18:25] Desposyni: yeah, if he's new to Mate and Linux, I would suggest _not_ enabling HiDPI. It's just not ready on 17.10 [18:26] He might also have eGPU questions. Hopefully MATE Optimus gets him better performance out of his Galago Pro from System 76 [18:26] Does anyone know the difference between Nvidia Prime or Optimus? [18:30] Desposyni: MATE Optimus is just an applet so that you can switch between the nvidia drivers and the integrated Intel ones. You might get better performance with the nvidia drivers, but you'll get better battery life with the intel ones... tradeoffs! :P [19:06] hi# [19:07] hi [19:10] diogenes_ [19:12] hi Desposyni === Nathan_ is now known as kernal === ole is now known as _denmark === _denmark is now known as denmark === ole_ is now known as oz6oh_ole [23:03] Hello from demark [23:03] denmark [23:15] hello [23:30] swift110 hello but now i will go to sleep also yuo sleep well
