[10:27] cjwatson: (2nd ping) I just checked nxproxy src:pkg and nxcomp:pkg. All Ubuntu specific changes have been in nx-libs for ages. It should be safe, say rather highly recommendable to drop these old nxcomp/nxproxy package mummies and have them replaced by maintained code from nx-libs. [10:27] cjwatson: can you do the required steps for this? [11:48] sunweaver: How about nxcompshad? That's the other source package being replaced here [11:49] sunweaver: It's pretty old so it's probably all replaceable, but it does need to be checked [13:23] cjwatson: nxcompshad is also part of nx-libs nowadays. [13:24] It is only used for building nxagent (the nx-X11 Xserver optimized for low bandwidth connections) [13:24] no other package should depend or build-depend on it. [13:25] in older times, the developers misunderstood how to build nxagent flawlessly. The only meaningful approach was to ship all NX components in one source project. [13:26] nxproxy is a frontend for nxcomp. [13:26] nxagent is a nested Xserver [13:27] these days, nxagent's X-client nature builds against a special lib(NX_)X11 and against various X-client libs (libXinerama, libXrandr, etc.) from X.org. [13:27] nxagent also build-requires nxcompshad for shadow session support [13:27] the graphical compression is handled by nxcompext which in old times was provided as a shared library (which was complete non-sense). [13:28] in fact, it is an Xserver extension, so it is shipped in the DDX code these days. [13:28] but it seems nxcompext never appeared in Ubuntu. [13:29] the nxcompshad version in Ubuntu is more rotten old, then the nxcomp. [13:29] We, as in nx-libs upstream team, reworked great portions of the code, threw out a lot of stuff and reworked the nx-X11 Xserver code base like hell (3.000.000 lines of code dropped). [13:30] too much information :) [13:30] at the same time, we (upstream nx-libs, esp. people from X2Go project) have provided a clean upgrade path for the packages found in Ubuntu. [13:30] I don't want to know all that, I just needed to check that there were no outstanding Ubuntu patches [13:31] all those Breaks:/Replaces: are in the Debian package nx-libs, as well. [13:31] cjwatson: no Ubuntu patches that haven't been merged upstream. [13:31] that's all I need to know, thanks [13:31] and the upgrade path of the package is also existent. [13:31] thanks to you! [13:32] so you are make nx-libs sync now? [13:32] yes, just done [13:32] cheers! [13:32] checking that it gets from bionic-proposed into bionic is your responsibility though, not mine [13:33] that should be an automatic procedure if no further conflicts / obstructions occur? [13:33] if [13:33] but yes [13:34] what are the criteria for -proposed -> release? [13:34] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ProposedMigration [13:34] thx [13:35] Debian #891296 isn't going to help your other package. [13:35] Debian bug 891296 in src:x2goserver "x2goserver binary-all FTBFS: chmod: cannot access 'debian/x2goserver/usr/lib/x2go/*': No such file or directory" [Serious,Open] http://bugs.debian.org/891296 [13:35] Amusingly seems to be fine in Ubuntu though. [13:36] oh dear... [13:36] Unit193: thanks. Will take a look. === wendar_ is now known as wendar [17:32] 1) Is there someone here with access to change status on Launchpad bugs? Affected users would like to see this ticket: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1711337 changed from "Fix Released" back to "Confirmed". [17:32] Launchpad bug 1711337 in firefox (Ubuntu) "Firefox crashes at start on armv7L after 55.0.1 update" [Undecided,Fix released] [17:36] jdonald: does it still affect Bionic, or only some older release? [18:07] Yes, we have confirmed this still affects the Bionic package. [18:07] Ok, changed to Confirmed. [18:08] Much appreciated. === karstensrage_ is now known as karstensrage
