lordievaderGood morning06:53
MrokiiHello. Does anybody in here know how to properly configure Cantata mpd client? I can't seem to get it to update the database so that it finds my music collection.07:21
MrokiiI solved the problem myself meanwhile. It wasn't enough to point Cantata to my music folder, I also had to edit /etc/mpd.conf to use the same path.07:42
lordievaderMrokii: That makes sense. Cantata is a frontend for mpd. Mpd handles the library stuff.08:21
Mrokiilordievader: Yeah, probably. But as I had no former knowledge about mpd I didn't know what exactly had to be configured. I guess it would be good if Cantata gave more info about what one has to do. Setting the music folder in Cantata looks kind of misleading to me.08:23
lordievaderTrue. Not really sure what Cantata does with it. Perhaps store album images or something.08:24
Mrokiiwell, it does say that it uses the folder to look up cover-art. But the label is "Music folder", so one should assume that this is where Cantata looks for music as well. There's no hint that one has to change anything in the mpd-configuration at all.08:26
MrokiiAnd it's found on a page named "Collection settings", so the assumption that this is where one points to their own music folder only seems natural.08:28
lordievaderYes, a bit of MPD knowledge helps in this case.08:28
MrokiiSeems so, yes.08:30

BluesKajHi folks10:28
=== kubuntu is now known as Guest31065
Prototypehey guys12:22
BluesKajhey Prototype12:24
Prototypehey BluesKaj12:25
Prototypegot a question12:25
BluesKajnope, you?12:27
Prototypei want to resize my home partiition, i tried using gparted installed but it does not seem to want to work,12:28
BluesKajmake sure you unmount the partition before resizing it12:29
Prototypeye,  tried that but it wouldnt let me,  which led me to think maybe i should be using live version12:30
BluesKajyou can't resize a partition in use,use t12:31
BluesKajlive media12:31
Prototypek12:31
Prototyperesizing is gonna wipe all my data isnt it?12:32
Prototypeor is it?12:32
BluesKajnot if you make sure the coloured region which indicates data isn't touched12:35
BluesKajif you're shrinking it12:36
BluesKajexpanding won't affect the data12:36
Prototypeok,  and i can move the partition to make sure coloured region is not touched right? (i did read something about movving parttions to left or right)12:38
BluesKajare you trying to create another partition in unused space?12:39
BluesKajmoving partitions isn't necessary even if they aren't in order12:40
BluesKajnumerically or visiably12:41
BluesKajvisibly rather12:41
Prototypeno,  just to shrink my home partition which i made way too big12:41
BluesKajok, what size is it ?12:42
Prototypeat the moment 135GB,  i want to make it arounf half12:43
BluesKajdepending on what data you store on it 80-100gG is plenty12:44
Prototypeonly using about 30GB12:44
Prototypemore like 25 i think12:45
BluesKajthen 80 is probly fine if you have a large drive like 500G, then you have plenty of room to dual boot if needed12:46
Prototypebut no less12:47
Prototype?12:48
BluesKajyou need some "headroom", but that's your call12:49
Prototypei understand that,  i thought if i made it so i had around 20GB to play with that would be enough12:51
BluesKajit might be if ypu don't store media files etc in your /home12:52
Prototypeonly music,  nothing too big12:53
Prototypewell, i have made backups,  just in case it all goes horribly wrong12:54
BluesKajmy music file is the largest folder due to my aversion to mp3/lossy codecs, prefer flac or wav12:55
Prototypeall my music is mp3 or wma,  since it had to fit on my mp3 player which has the laughably small capacity of 32GB12:58
Prototypei was looking for something cheap at the time tho12:59
PrototypeI remember my very first mp3 player...128MB hehe13:00
Prototype4 albums at the lowest bit rate13:00
BluesKajugh :-)13:01
sparta_boyhello. can someone help me here. i cant change my energy settings in kubuntu since there is no 'apply' button13:01
sparta_boydoes anybody know how to fix this? i cant change my screen dim and sleep timer13:01

sparta_boyBluesKaj: yes hold on13:06
Prototypeye,  i think it is right at bottom,  but its fallen off screen and no way to access it13:06
sparta_boyPrototype: nope it does not even ask me anything like that13:06
sparta_boyhere: https://imgur.com/a/4KiSt13:08

sparta_boyPrototype: yes i did that13:10
sparta_boynow ?13:10
sparta_boyshould i try closing and seeing if it worked ?13:10
Prototypeit didnt promt you to save the settings?#13:11
sparta_boyPrototype: no13:11
Prototypehmmm13:11
sparta_boyi closed it . reopened, and its all reset to the default :X13:12
Prototypesorry, im out of ideas,  im new to Kubuntu myself,  and that is the only solution i found13:12
