Does anybody in here know how to properly configure Cantata mpd client? I can't seem to get it to update the database so that it finds my music collection. [07:42] I solved the problem myself meanwhile. It wasn't enough to point Cantata to my music folder, I also had to edit /etc/mpd.conf to use the same path. [08:21] Mrokii: That makes sense. Cantata is a frontend for mpd. Mpd handles the library stuff. [08:23] lordievader: Yeah, probably. But as I had no former knowledge about mpd I didn't know what exactly had to be configured. I guess it would be good if Cantata gave more info about what one has to do. Setting the music folder in Cantata looks kind of misleading to me. [08:24] True. Not really sure what Cantata does with it. Perhaps store album images or something. [08:26] well, it does say that it uses the folder to look up cover-art. But the label is "Music folder", so one should assume that this is where Cantata looks for music as well. There's no hint that one has to change anything in the mpd-configuration at all. [08:28] And it's found on a page named "Collection settings", so the assumption that this is where one points to their own music folder only seems natural. [08:28] Yes, a bit of MPD knowledge helps in this case. [08:30] Seems so, yes. === Guest93156 is now known as Haudegen [10:06] hello guys [10:07] anybody help me with network configuration in ubuntu 16.04 lts? after reconfig interfaces.conf brake command services network restart [10:08] but ifaces worked === marc__ is now known as marcpv [10:11] Hi, I just delete the app launcher, how can I restore it? [10:13] marcpv: you delete app on panel? [10:14] Yes... [10:14] so stupid, I'm new to Plasma [10:15] if you delete app launcher on desctop panel? im recomend you right click on panel, add aplet and find it app launcher in libary, or delete panel and add default panel again. [10:16] marcpv: add widget [10:17] ohhh I see now [10:17] thanks very much [10:18] but now the super key does not work for it [10:18] Firefox 59 is out tonight [10:28] Hi folks === kubuntu is now known as Guest31065 [12:22] hey guys [12:24] hey Prototype [12:25] hey BluesKaj [12:25] got a question [12:27] nope, you? [12:28] i want to resize my home partiition, i tried using gparted installed but it does not seem to want to work, [12:29] make sure you unmount the partition before resizing it [12:30] ye, tried that but it wouldnt let me, which led me to think maybe i should be using live version [12:31] you can't resize a partition in use,use t [12:31] live media [12:31] k [12:32] resizing is gonna wipe all my data isnt it? [12:32] or is it? [12:35] not if you make sure the coloured region which indicates data isn't touched [12:36] if you're shrinking it [12:36] expanding won't affect the data [12:38] ok, and i can move the partition to make sure coloured region is not touched right? (i did read something about movving parttions to left or right) [12:39] are you trying to create another partition in unused space? [12:40] moving partitions isn't necessary even if they aren't in order [12:41] numerically or visiably [12:41] visibly rather [12:41] no, just to shrink my home partition which i made way too big [12:42] ok, what size is it ? [12:43] at the moment 135GB, i want to make it arounf half [12:44] depending on what data you store on it 80-100gG is plenty [12:44] only using about 30GB [12:45] more like 25 i think [12:46] then 80 is probly fine if you have a large drive like 500G, then you have plenty of room to dual boot if needed [12:47] but no less [12:48] ? [12:49] you need some "headroom", but that's your call [12:51] i understand that, i thought if i made it so i had around 20GB to play with that would be enough [12:52] it might be if ypu don't store media files etc in your /home [12:53] only music, nothing too big [12:54] well, i have made backups, just in case it all goes horribly wrong [12:55] my music file is the largest folder due to my aversion to mp3/lossy codecs, prefer flac or wav [12:58] all my music is mp3 or wma, since it had to fit on my mp3 player which has the laughably small capacity of 32GB [12:59] i was looking for something cheap at the time tho [13:00] I remember my very first mp3 player...128MB hehe [13:00] 4 albums at the lowest bit rate [13:01] ugh :-) [13:01] hello. can someone help me here. i cant change my energy settings in kubuntu since there is no 'apply' button [13:01] does anybody know how to fix this? i cant change my screen dim and sleep timer [13:02] been an audio guy for most of my life ...mp3 doesn't cut it [13:03] hey sparta_boy...i had some problem, only way around it that i found was this [13:03] sparta_boy, give us a screenshot, there shoulb [13:03] be one [13:04] i could not see one, i just picked settings i wanted, then attempted to close the window upon whihc i was propted whether i wanted to save settings [13:06] BluesKaj: yes hold on [13:06] ye, i think it is right at bottom, but its fallen off screen and no way to access it [13:06] Prototype: nope it does not even ask me anything like that [13:08] here: https://imgur.com/a/4KiSt [13:09] try this......chane setting then click on another tab [13:10] Prototype: yes i did that [13:10] now ? [13:10] should i try closing and seeing if it worked ? [13:11] it didnt promt you to save the settings?# [13:11] Prototype: no [13:11] hmmm [13:12] i closed it . reopened, and its all reset to the default :X [13:12] sorry, im out of ideas, im new to Kubuntu myself, and that is the only solution i found [13:13] one of the more experienced users may be able to help [13:13] Prototype: ah thats okay, thanks ! :) [13:17] no problem === nameless is now known as Guest78361 === roey__ is now known as EvilRoey === pratik is now known as pratik_ === nameless is now known as Guest63479 === nameless is now known as Guest88578 === nameless_ is now known as Guest40089 [17:32] hello === massimo30 is now known as nothing === nothing is now known as stfu [17:33] why is chat so dead? === stfu is now known as say === say is now known as say_hello === say_hello is now known as Linus_Trovalds_h === Linus_Trovalds_h is now known as i_am_your_father === i_am_your_father is now known as notice_me_plz [17:38] hello friends [17:39] what is the best way to burn a usb stick with manjaro when I'm on kubuntu [17:39] I like kubuntu but I fucked up my audio drivers [17:39] so I'm giving manjaro another go === notice_me_plz is now known as just_K_here [17:41] someone help please [19:12] please help [19:12] how do I burn an ISO [19:12] using kubuntu [19:12] I need to burn in a USB stick [19:13] https://twitter.com/bittin/status/973637003186188289 === Nikita is now known as Guest97296 [19:15] brn: [19:15] just download unetbootin [19:15] google about it [19:15] i use that software for burn in bootable usb [19:28] Has anyone been experiencing bad superblocks?
