* RAOF grumbles at yet another autopkgtest that now fails on s390x because machine-isolation has been enabled.00:48
xnoxmuahahahahhaha00:48
xnoxRAOF, stop denying the truth! you envy big iron =)00:48
RAOFxnox: Look, Canonical is absolutely welcome to buy me a Talos II workstation and I will care all the things about power8.00:49
RAOFxnox: But you're not going to get me excited about big iron :P00:50
RAOF(Or perhaps I'd be caring about Power9, which maybe shows you how much I currently follow that :gri00:51
RAOF😸00:51
infinityRAOF: IBM keeps promising me x86-competitive build-your-own POWER options.  When that actually happens, my next home server will be P9, I imagine.01:12
infinityWell, that also depends on it not requiring the rotor from an Apache helicopter to keep it cool.01:12
RAOFHeh.01:13
RAOFWell, the Talos II has been in “Pre-orders accepted!” state for… maybe a year now?01:13
infinityI have faith.01:13
infinityIsh.01:13
RAOF“When that actually happens” is an excellent qualifier :)01:13
infinityThe original plan was to sell bad yield CPUs with disabled cores at cut rate prices.01:14
infinityBut two things happened: their yields improved, and demand for P8 was significantly higher than they expected.01:14
infinitySo, good news for IBM, bad news for enthusiasts.01:14
RAOFEh. I'll just end up with 16+ cores of Ryzen in my next system.01:17
RAOFThat'll do.01:17
infinityRAOF: Oh yes, I'm quite happy with all things Ryzen.01:17
infinityRAOF: But I still want POWER just cause.01:18
infinityRAOF: I may be old, but there's still a giddy hobbyist nerd hiding in here somewhere.01:18
RAOFHeh.01:18

LocutusOfBorghello guys, appport regressed in release (probably this is an ifra regression, not a release one?)... can autopkgtests be ignored?08:38
LocutusOfBorgapport-valgrind creates a user specified sandbox and cache ... WARNING: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 is needed, but cannot be mapped to a package08:40

LocutusOfBorgthis is a strange error TBH08:40
mwhudsonLocutusOfBorg: i remember unhelpfully slangasek saying something about that but no other details08:47
mwhudsonoh wait no there's not been a new glibc recently :)08:48
LocutusOfBorgdoes anybody know where I can push changes I did to src:casper package? I fail to see how https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/casper/trunk can point to the right code09:06
acheronukLocutusOfBorg: I asked in here the other day where the current VCS was, as was told the VCS 'was the archive'09:14

jbichaplease remove sambamba from bionic-proposed. 0.6.7-1 fails to build on i386 and we can just rebuild 0.6.6-1 instead to finish the ldc transition12:39

LocutusOfBorgjbicha, https://github.com/biod/sambamba/issues/34413:27
LocutusOfBorgBTW, I would prefer to remove it on i386, or demote to proposed for some hours13:27
jbichademote what to proposed?13:27
LocutusOfBorgI already disabled the assert in my ppa and the build went successfully, but since upstream is working on it, better wait13:27
LocutusOfBorgsambamba13:27
LocutusOfBorgbtw tilix is sad because of apport regression in release13:28
jbichawe could just wait a few days on sambamba/ldc transition then since upstream might have a fix soon13:29
LocutusOfBorgbut since the version is regressed in release (only in i386), I could even disable the assert and upload13:34
LocutusOfBorgand then sync when the new version 0.6.8 is out13:34
LocutusOfBorguploaded, i386 makes little sense nowadays13:36
LocutusOfBorgand the fix will come in a matter of hours (BTW this is segfaulting since years on i386 and nobody complained lol)13:36

LocutusOfBorgapw, please ignore apport autopkgtests? so we can see ldc migrate?14:11
juliankLaney, slangasek python-apt based autopkgtests currently fail on armhf because it sets APT::Default-Release somewhere in apt.conf[.d]. While we should eventually fix the tests, I don't know how many are affected (only update-manager and ubuntu-release-upgrader I know about). Can we get this changed so it does not set APT::Default-Release, but pins bionic to 990 using a preferences file?14:21
juliankThen we can get ubuntu-release-upgrader migrate to release pocket again :)14:23
slangasekLocutusOfBorg: I don't see any way that apport's tests regressing would be an infrastructure change; please check with bdmurray14:54
slangasekjuliank: I don't see any references to Default-Release in our cloud setup.  Does this come from lxd defaults?14:56
juliankslangasek: I have no idea, but it seems to be set only on armfh14:56
slangasekjuliank: armhf is the only arch where our runners are in containers14:58
juliankIt's certainly not in my autopkgtest-build-lxd container15:00
juliankbut that's all I know, the rest is a mystery to me :)15:00
LocutusOfBorgslangasek, but ignoring, is it a possibility? we will see some stuff migrate, and this is a "regreesed in release" situation15:01

slangasekLocutusOfBorg: true, that is my rule, if it's regressed in release it should not be allowed to block.  Can I ask you to file a bug against the apport package about it, and I'll add the hint?15:13
LocutusOfBorgsure!15:16
LaneyWhen we find out why this broke, we should see if we can make proposed-migration not miss the regression next time15:17
slangasekquite15:17
Laneyslangasek: can you see if you can make the autopkgtest@lxd unit go away on autopkgtest-cloud-worker/3 please? :(15:21
LaneyI'm too incompetent to know how to do that15:22
slangaseklooking15:22
Laneyit's causing an error message to be mailed to me by the maintenance job15:22
slangasekhaha15:22
slangasekif only other people could receive these mails15:22
Laneythat15:22
LocutusOfBorginteresting, I'm finding the regression in some glibc stuff15:22
LocutusOfBorgwill update the bug15:22
slangasekLaney: it only went away when I ran sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/autopkgtest-lxd-socat@.service && sudo systemctl daemon-reload (and maybe the first part of that command was not relevant)15:28
LocutusOfBorgok I'm pretty sure lxc regressed it15:28
slangasekLaney: but also that leaves autopkgtest-lxd-socat@lxd-armhf-10.44.41.136.service behind as 'not-found' and I don't know why :P15:28

slangasekok15:32
slangasekLaney: I'm unhappy that I still have a dangling unit, but if the scripts are clean, I won't fret overmuch ;)15:33
LocutusOfBorglxc migrated the exact day the test started failing, other differences are gcc-8 minor update and something similar, but lxc seems my best bet15:34
LocutusOfBorglets see the stuff migrate <315:35
slangasekLocutusOfBorg: lxc in bionic?  that isn't used on the infrastructure15:40
LocutusOfBorgslangasek, I did a diff on artifacts.tar.gz16:09
LocutusOfBorgwhy is it shown there then?16:12
slangasekLocutusOfBorg: it's part of the base image. But the lxc version *in* the runner image is not part of the "infrastructure" of the runners, and I don't see anything in the apport package that implies it uses lxc16:14
LocutusOfBorgoh got it16:17
LocutusOfBorgsooooo, other differences are really not helping16:18
slangaseksure, but please reassign the bug to the apport package16:18
slangasekbecause that's where "ownership" of the issue needs to lie16:18
LocutusOfBorgsure16:20
LocutusOfBorgI see some seeds changed, can them be a problem? e.g. ubuntu-minimal and some ubuntu-* packages16:20
LocutusOfBorgmaybe they were indirectly needed16:20
LocutusOfBorgis looking at both testbed-packages the right thing to do?16:23
LocutusOfBorgor upstream-system-packages is the best place?16:24
slangasekcould be any of the above16:24
LocutusOfBorgI'll let somebody else understand the problem, I'm really not much involved in such package16:31

coreycbhello, can an archive admin please remove heat-api-cloudwatch binary package as well as the source package python-django-openstack-auth  and its corresponding binaries? note that horizon now provides the python-django-openstack-auth binary.18:36
slangasekcoreycb: heat-api-cloudwatch will get reaped after the new version of heat currently in -proposed migrates, and not before; you appear to have some autopkgtest regressions that you need to sort out http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#heat19:13
coreycbslangasek: i have a new upload that sorts them out. forgot to drop heat-api-cloudwatch tests on the prior upload.19:14

coreycbslangasek: thanks19:16
slangasekthat one is actually tricky because removing python-django-openstack-auth from bionic will immediately make horizon uninstallable19:16
slangasekI think I'll force horizon first19:16
Trevinhosil2100: hey, when you've a sec can you please check this SRU https://bileto.ubuntu.com/#/ticket/3190 ?19:18
coreycbslangasek: we want to keep the horizon binary. i'm probably missing something with how you do it on your end.19:18
ahasenackhi, sssd has a component mismatch (http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#sssd), the MIR was approved: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/http-parser/+bug/163895719:20
ubot5Ubuntu bug 1638957 in http-parser (Ubuntu) "[MIR] http-parser, dependency of sssd" [High,Fix committed]19:20
slangasekcoreycb: so, if I act on the removal request for python-django-openstack-auth, python-django-horizon immediately becomes uninstallable in bionic release, and then *hopefully*, becomes installable again with the next proposed-migration run.  Instead, I'm using a hint to force horizon to migrate, which will make only python-openstack-auth uninstallable, which we don't care about; and then I'll19:20
ahasenackcould someone please take a look at that?19:20
slangasekremove python-django-openstack-auth when the dust settles19:20

slangasek# cat /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/autopkgtest-default-release23:14
slangasekAPT::Default-Release "bionic";23:14
slangasekseems to be present since July 2017 in upstream autopkgtest git, so must be a side effect of a config change23:16

slangasekjuliank: ok - this is an old commit but only recently merged upstream, and not merged into the tree on the kvm master.23:43
slangasekjuliank: so it came in as part of the redeploy of the lxd infra.  I'll sort out a revert23:43
slangasekLaney: ^^ we are currently pointing directly at the autoimported upstream autopkgtest repo, which has now broken us.  I'm going to work through pointing instead at https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-release/autopkgtest/+git/development23:46
sergiusensslangasek: so do I also wait for your signal to retrigger?23:50
slangaseksergiusens: or you can tell me what to retrigger once fixed23:52
