SuperMattI think so11:33
foobarrywhere?11:33
GargoyleI've been on and off IRC for years, I think it's really slowed in the last 2!11:33
SuperMattThe thing is, unless you run a server, you don't have a permanent connection to IRC, so you miss all the messages while you're offline11:33
GargoyleThat's not always a bad thing! :)11:34
foobarryslack provided a lot of features irc should have done 5 yrs ago11:34
foobarryi realise its not so open, so OSS projects won't move there.11:34
SuperMatttrue that11:34
foobarrybut the u-uk ppl must have gone somewhere11:35
foobarryor did mid-life just happen to them?11:35

popeyUbuntu has a discord12:10
popeyand slack12:10

popeythe ubuntu discord is lightly used.12:11
foobarryseems i need to install telegram on android before signing up12:11
diddledanAI analysed the hitchhikers' guide and this was the intuited response: https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/j8QR41o5/image.png12:11
popeytelegram is indeed mobile first,12:12
popeytelegram is way more active for me. I am in a ton of them, and use it as a primary means of comms for lots of things12:12
popeyslack, I am in about 20 slacks, of which only 5 are active12:12

diddledanooh, I'm not in bad voltage12:14
popeyI have one entire screen dedicated to irc, slack and telegram12:14
diddledanhaha12:14
diddledanthat's where you need a tiling window manager for that screen12:14
popeyI just use CTRL+ALT+ numkeys to make Unity push them to the corners12:15
diddledan:-o12:15

diddledanso, erm, daftykins .. yaknow how I said my thunderbolt only worked once I'd taken out the nvme. Well I did a firmware update on it to be sure it has the latest while I had it going, but now I've put everything back into PCIe (gfx + NVMe) it STILL BLOOMIN WORKS!!16:04
diddledandid the firmware fix it or was it just removing and reconnecting everything that fixed it?!16:04
diddledan.. or will it break again once I've boobed loonicks?!16:05
daftykinsdiddledan: did think it a bit odd, you mean mobo BIOS or SSD firmware?17:47
diddledanthunderbolt firmware17:47
daftykinsoic17:47
diddledanit's definitely still working in Windows with all the hardware back in place where it was previously when it was broke17:48
daftykinsblame Cana... Loonix then, yesh!17:50
* diddledan will tentatively reboob into loonix. brb17:50
diddledanok. let's see what lspci says17:52
daftykinsgoodness me at the bit on Radio 2 at mid-day going on about Guernsey considering allowing assisted suicide17:53
diddledanstill working here too17:53
diddledanmystery17:54
daftykinshonestly i've seen so many updates to the BIOSs and firmware on my machines that have thunderbolt, not surprised there were some kinks to work out17:54
diploevening all20:28
diploAny of you guys use hosted phone systems - IE only handsets on desk, they talk to the hosted service directly ?20:28
daftykinsnot quite, but i did set up FreePBX at home and bought an old Linksys SPA3102 to convert my PSTN line into a full voicemail and IP phone driven setup20:57
daftykinsalso planning on putting one in for a client so they can have free voice calls between their 3 properties, that'd only need to be internal extensions though, no proper VoIP service20:58
diploI'm going to do freepbx at home at somepoint21:00
diploGot a customer who can't get a display working, the "technical team" basically don't have a clue and say follow this guide, well the guides wrong :P21:01
daftykinsheh :D21:07
daftykinswhen in doubt, factory reset \o/21:07
diploBasically the issue is, if anyone comes along, the phones work, but caller display doesn't work, I said what port does that use, they have no idea, they want me to forward all ports, these are 80/443 to the phones internally21:15
diploI've nmapped the network, I've been told to open 5080/TCP, but that's closed on the phones, 5060/TCP is open, so hoping that is the fix21:15
daftykinshmm mine are able to display the called passed along to the single SIP port from the FreePBX host, must be totally different21:17
diploI think the technical team are just how to tinker with the phone, not how to set up routers, he was trying to not blame me whilst blaming me, yet not giving any answers :)21:19
diploI'll do as they ask and then it's on them21:20
daftykins:D21:23
daftykinssounds like a plan21:23
diddledanthe great thing about a VoIP setup is you can record every call :-p22:47
diddledan(easier)22:47

zmoylan-piand this m'lud is the recording od diddledan when he ordered 30 rottweilers to be delivered forgetting he had signed up to amazon door service... :-P22:50
daftykinsxD22:51
diddledanthe cats in the second delivery were a mistake22:56
daftykinsthe victor shall be crowned #1 pet22:57
zmoylan-piarriving home 2 weeks later with a pepperoni pizza was the mistake...22:57
diddledanmy 7 year old nephew is currently in France on a skiing holiday. The videos his dad keeps sharing on Facebook scare the bajeebers out of me every time23:06
