The problem is the driver needs kernel source as usually found in /usr/src and /lib/modules but both is not present on my fresh ubuntu mate installation on my raspberry pi 2, how can I get that kernel and dependencies? [10:41] sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` [10:42] should grab the kernel src for you [10:42] not sudo apt-get install build-essential [10:42] * sudo apt-get install build-essential [10:43] should grab the tool syou need to build too? [10:43] been a long time since I did anything along those lines though [10:51] I tried that "apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`" before but that showed my that the version that is installed is not availabile... === ole_ is now known as ole_demark === ole_demark is now known as ole_denmark [11:43] Hello. Yesterday I installed a fresh version of Ubuntu Mate on my Raspberry Pi 3 Model B and I've googled for a lot of Remote Desktop options that works, but so far no solution has worked for me. Does anyone have any solution they could recommend? [11:46] Repox: remote desktop from where to where? [11:46] E.g. from windows to pi? From pi to macos? [11:46] Well, I'd like to connect from my MacOS to the Pi and remote control it. [11:47] OK, I don't know MacOS so I can't really recommend anything there [11:48] Usual options are x2go, vnc, xrdp, but I don't know the client state in macos [11:49] Well, you provided me with some keywords to google on, so maybe I can find something from there. The only two I tried so far was vino and RealVNC (which doesn't work on the Pi). [11:49] The x11vnc server works fine on the pi [11:50] I'll try that; thank you very much. [12:34] hi there [12:40] dragonsnoop - Hello there! [12:41] Welcome to the IRC home of Ubuntu MATE! [12:41] Can we help you? [12:52] Hi Menzador [12:52] I am new with this version of Ubuntu [12:53] it runs pretty nicely on the laptop [12:54] Neat [12:54] Glad you like it! [12:54] :) [12:54] What sort of lappie are we talking here? [12:55] sorry to ask ; what"s a lappie ? [12:55] Laptop [12:56] okay! it's a Vaio ns330 (core duo intel) and I upgraded the hard drive to a 7200rpm it really helps [13:00] I remember few years ago when I did my first tries with linux , I had much less performance using Mint -mate versus cinnamon on an older machine [13:01] I think linux is really taking my heart slowly lol [13:01] I mean ; Im falling for it over windows 10 [13:02] Hehe [13:02] Well, about the only thing we don't have is Adobe CS [13:02] but we have just about everything else [13:02] (although not by exact name) [13:03] ok.. did you tried working with Gimp?? [13:04] I dont really know much more of Adobe Photoshop cs I presume [13:05] I use GIMP all the time [13:06] It's not a drawing tool, however [13:07] ok [13:08] are you use to work with a pen like wacomm tablets? I am planning to equip myself soon and I cant wait to try it [13:22] dragonsnoop - You might find this weird, but I normally use a joystick to manipulate images [13:22] I have had a pen-operated tablet before, however [13:27] a joystick? do you mean something like a playstation 3 analog gamepad? [13:32] dragonsnoop - Specifically, the Logitech 3D Pro flightstick [13:32] an actual old-school joystick :) === ole_ is now known as ole_denmark [13:43] ok :P [13:43] I know, right? Most people would flinch at the idea [13:44] Maybe it's easyer that what its looks like :) [14:13] oz4ga er du her === ole_ is now known as ole_denmark === ole_ is now known as ole_denmark [23:42] hi people, is ubuntu mate updated?
