I'm glad you pinpointed the root of the situation. [03:41] emma: In the meantime... I found a couple of really good articles on the subject. https://www.hiroom2.com/2017/08/24/ubuntu-1610-nameserver-127-0-0-53-en/ and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1624320 [03:41] Launchpad bug 1624320 in systemd (Ubuntu) "systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries" [Low,Confirmed] [03:46] BionicMac: did it help you fix your issue with your previous VPN? === himcesjf_ is now known as him-cesjf === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite [04:24] BionicMac: Yes. I ended up using my VPN providers cli application and it solves everything for me. I tried using their openvpn.ovpn configuration files with openvpn in cli and importing it into the Kde network connection wizard to no avail. [04:25] valorie: ^ [04:27] valorie: While using their *.ovpn config files it was always and every time a dns issue. The connection was made just fine. DNS would not resolv. It was exactly related to what emma is experiencing. [04:31] it would be good if both of you commented in the bug report [04:32] valorie: will do. Now that I am semi-educated on systemd and resolv.conf I may try the openvpn.ovpn files again before I file the bug comment. === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz [04:39] XBMC or Kodi on this distro === kallesbar_ is now known as kallesbar === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === sally_ is now known as drondon === elmer is now known as Guest68802 [08:23] Hi, I reinstalled plasma-pa, and now the applet is really big [08:23] https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/pWwD5D5z/20180416_112010.jpg [08:23] any ideas whats going on? === andre is now known as Guest23590 === Guest23590 is now known as AndreeeCZ === neo_ is now known as neo__ === neo__ is now known as xneotest === xneotest is now known as xneot === xneot is now known as xneo === xneo is now known as globaldn [09:27] hey guys [09:27] how can I register nichname? === globaldn is now known as xneo [09:29] https://freenode.net/kb/answer/registration === xneo is now known as globaldn [09:30] thanks === globaldn is now known as xneotest === xneotest is now known as globaldn === globaldn is now known as xneotest [10:43] Hi guys, is there a program to monitor my network connection and notify me of disconnections? === miguel is now known as Guest36805 [12:03] Hey folks [12:03] hey === amichair_ is now known as amichair === sadmin is now known as kubuntu === kubuntu is now known as Guest90591 [13:07] hello world === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === xneotest is now known as newtest1 [15:19] hi [15:19] can some1 help me? === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz [15:20] how can I enable Encryption/SSL with Freenode in KDE Konversation client? [15:21] i can't find any networking settings in Konversation client... [15:21] that's probably the wrong channel you are asking that in but search for a freenode server that is tls enabled [15:21] newtest1: ^ [15:21] ? [15:24] i'm sorry... I know it's enablen on Freenode side, but looks like it's disabled in Kubuntu Konversation client... If not - how can I check that it's working? I haven't any indication... [15:25] newtest1: when your client is trying to connect you should be able to see if it does the SSL handshake and succeeds [15:26] so check the server logs [15:26] where I can find logs? :) [15:28] ah I see some logs in Freenode "root" window [15:29] maybe post it somewhere if it doesn't expose anything private, so that we can see. === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === xneotest is now known as newtest1 [15:39] newtest1, konversation creates a log folder in your /home dir === EvilRoey is now known as Roey|Trolling === Roey|Trolling is now known as EvilRoey === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === newtest1 is now known as tenmes === xneotest is now known as test === test is now known as Guest33284 === Guest33284 is now known as test2482 [17:40] ? === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === test2482 is now known as test3333 === test3333 is now known as freetest === kspencer_ is now known as kspencer === freetest is now known as neoz === jaafar_ is now known as jaafar [19:16] valorie: my problem still isn't really fixed so when bionic is back let me know where to file a bug. === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === user0 is now known as user0112 === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === daniel is now known as Guest34375 [20:46] emma: best to comment on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1624320 and mark yourself as affected [20:46] Launchpad bug 1624320 in systemd (Ubuntu) "systemd-resolved appends 127.0.0.53 to resolv.conf alongside existing entries" [Low,Confirmed] [20:47] best way to file any bug report is commandline: `ubuntu-bug packagename` which in this case seems to be systemd === systemovich_ is now known as systemovich === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite === redwhite is now known as ZzZzZzzz [23:34] valorie: i do not have that bug I guess. [23:34] valorie: my problem is a bit different but also seems to be some tangled mess between PIA VPN -- NetworkManager -- resolv.conf [23:36] The current status is that as long as I am using the VPN I am fine. If I turn off the VPN then I have to manually edit resolv.conf so that it says 127.0.0.53 INSTEAD OF 127.0.1.1 but if my USB wireless adapter needs to be unplugged or plugged back in then NetworkManager rewrites it to 127.0.1.1 and I can no longer use the internet without the VPN. [23:38] so perhaps file the bug against resolved if that is possible [23:38] but resolved is part of systemd === ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite [23:47] I am new to Ubuntu want kubuntu how can I make the .iso to a install cd bootable [23:49] hmm, what is the right invocation [23:50] !iso [23:50] To mount an ISO disc image, type « sudo mount -o loop » - There is a list of useful cd image conversion tools at http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/CD_Image_Conversion - Always verify the ISO using !MD5 before !burning.
