ErichEickmeyer | Anyhow... -offtopic is elsewhere. :) | 02:38 |
SlidingHorn | (Repeating) I'm having an issue where I cannot get xfce to fully load...the panel either doesn't load at all (most often) or it shows up, and is unresponsive. if I Ctl+alt+t on my primary screen (where the panel would be) I cannot see the terminal, but it's "there" and commands work. if I ctl+alt+t on the secondary, screen, the terminal is visible. What can I look for to diagnose the problem here? | 02:38 |
SlidingHorn | I have to clear my ~/.config/xfce every time this happens :/ | 02:39 |
krytarik | 1.) Providing any version info would have been nice. 2.) When you do that, when does it start failing again? | 02:44 |
SlidingHorn | krytarik: I'm going to be spending tonight trying to break it again to figure out exactly where it happens. It's XFCE 4.12 | 03:04 |
krytarik | SlidingHorn: That's how it's also called in Xenial btw. | 03:06 |
SlidingHorn | krytarik: cool - I'm helping to test the Studio Bionic set up, but I figured the Xubuntu crew might have some valuable input/guidance for when I find where I'm breaking it. | 03:10 |
krytarik | To be clear, the "Xfce" version is always just the umbrella one - and usually doesn't tell much about the individual parts of it - hence the context of the distro version is handy. | 03:13 |
marine | i deleted my kernel. | 05:30 |
marine | i want to recover my xubuntu. | 05:30 |
SlidingHorn | marine: reinstall it. | 05:30 |
marine | if reinstall it , some data should be lost. | 05:31 |
marine | because only kernel rm by apt-get remove --purge . | 05:31 |
marine | i want to recover it by live usb to setup the grub relation. | 05:32 |
marine | some one else met this situation, or other better ways ? | 05:32 |
well_laid_lawn | marine: if you haven't rebooted since removving the kernel you can reinstall the kernel | 06:34 |
lirodon | Should an Android phone auto-mount in Thunar? | 06:44 |
well_laid_lawn | lirodon: this might explain http://www.mysolutions.it/mounting-your-mtp-androids-sd-card-on-ubuntu/ | 06:47 |
marine | i use live usb to launch machine. | 07:49 |
marine | and use mount /dev/sda8 /mnt | 07:50 |
marine | and then use mount --bind /mnt/dev /dev | 07:50 |
marine | use chroot | 07:50 |
marine | to recover the kernel deleted by mistake. | 07:51 |
marine | after all, use grub-install /sda | 07:51 |
marine | and update-grub | 07:51 |
well_laid_lawn | marine: and it worked out ok for you ? | 08:15 |
marine | yes, just only work, but the fglrx is not suitable for me. | 08:19 |
