[08:06] Just did a little review of my first impressions on 18.04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lEQZ9whl5I [08:14] morning boys and girls. [09:53] o/ [09:53] o/ [09:54] sorry for delay but was out... :-) [09:55] :) [09:59] just think, people on the internet were wrong and went unchallenged... :-P [10:09] donald tramp syndrome? [10:12] no, that's old fart ranting... :-) [10:14] :) [11:40] aloha [11:42] if I'm on 17.10 and I've done multiple updates and done alt F2 update-manager why am I not on 18.04 yet :( [12:06] because it's not officially released yet [12:06] you can upgrade to it by running update-manager -d though [12:07] Official release date is Thursday [12:13] SuperMatt: ahhhhhhhhhhh that's my issue I thought it had been released [12:14] A lot of people have been using on their main machines recently because it's super duper stable [12:14] my recommendation after frist login: snap install communitheme [12:21] SuperMatt: why's that ? [12:23] czajkowski: also, don't they wait until .1 before update-manager will see it? [12:48] Nafallo: wasn't sure tbh [12:53] yeah, I'm not sure if that's just servers either. [15:17] hi is, ubuntu 18.04 lts out this thursday ? [15:22] Yes it is [15:22] cool [15:22] i am making up some cd / dvd labels [15:22] we're all waiting with bated breath [15:22] :) [15:23] i can update my server once it is out [15:25] install from floppy. make it an event :-) [15:25] D: [15:25] Why would anyone do that to themselves? [15:25] Also, is that actually even possible? [15:26] I don't even have a floppy drive [15:26] fair enough.... punch cards.... :-) [15:27] I wonder if it's worth striping out the required modules, etc for accessing floppy disks. Make them an installable extra [15:28] i suspect making them an installable extra would take up more space than just leaving them in... [15:31] well there is that [15:34] I've just been on a call where a person mentioned EARL many many times [15:34] where EARL was url [15:34] it's only Monday and I want to strangle people [15:35] ...so a normal monday then... :-) [15:35] pretty much [15:41] so will 18.04 be 64bit only or 32bit too ? [15:43] good question [15:44] If you're upgrading an already installed system, I believe 32 bit is supported [15:47] https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/09/ubuntu-17-10-32-bit-builds-dropped [15:51] zleap: i386 will still be available in the archives, but not as ISOs. [15:54] ah ok cool [15:55] I will download the 64bit iso and make a few dvd's up, see if I can give away at tech jams etc [15:55] unless there will be some more 'official' dvd's pressed like there used to be [15:55] The only thing I'm sad about with 18.04 is that the communitheme isn't official. But snap install communitheme is a good work around
