otomoHi, I still couldn't upgrade, it keep on saying that there is no release available (and yes I tried bot long term releases and normal releases)06:26
acheronukotomo: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BionicBeaver/ReleaseNotes/Kubuntu06:27

diogenes_otomo, why you need it so urgently?06:27
otomoThanks acheronuk, sorry I didn't know that06:28
otomodiogenes, no I don't need it so urgently, as I didn't know that info I thought something could be brong in my Kubuntu06:29
otomoso perfect them :), thanks06:29
otomoand another not so "important" question, do you know if the new Gimp 2.10 will be released in the official repos of 18.04? Thanks06:32
=== ZzZzZzzz is now known as redwhite
acheronukit's a new feature release, not just a bugfix release, so I would say unlikely for a stable release update. in time perhaps it might get to the archive's unsupported backports section, but I don't know to what degree things are going to go in there for 18.04 yet06:36
acheronukif it is snapped, then it would get an update at some point06:37
=== FlameReaper-PC is now known as Honoo
HonooI have asked a question a few hours back, but it seems nobody was around to answer at that time therefore I'll ask again. It seems a configuration in either my .local or .config folders are preventing KDE from properly displaying the appmenu, be it the global menu or the window decoration button.06:40
HonooI am running 18.04 LTS at the moment, and this problem does not repeat with a new user account. However I need to preserve my current applicationg settings so for me getting rid of my entire .local and .config folders are not an option06:41
diogenes_Honoo, not the entire .config, try to rename your .config/kde* <=== or whatever the plasma config folder is called then re-log and see if that fixes the issue06:44
Honoodiogenes_: thank you. I'll try that.06:48

kiromaHey I'm having an issue with sddm13:16
kiromaI tried compiling it from source but it didn't work as the screen would go completely black13:16
kiromaSo I removed it and reinstalled the packaged version of SDDM but that doesn't work either now as all I get is a cursor on a black screen.13:17
kiromaI can start a graphical session manually with startx.13:18
BluesKaj!nomodeset | kiroma13:29
ubottukiroma: A common kernel (boot)parameter is nomodeset, which is needed for some graphic cards that otherwise boot into a black screen or show corrupted splash screen. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 on how to use this parameter13:29
kiromaI've got properitary drivers installed, and it's been working fine so far before I did this dumb thing.13:31
acheronuka self build may result in files and config files left over. our packaged version does not have things quite as they would be if built from source13:35
acheronukoh. they quit13:38
kiromanomodeset made the situation even worse.13:41
BluesKajworse, how?13:45
BluesKajseems he doesn't want help, he's just here to complain.13:49
kiromaI wasn't able to start an X session anymore, even manually13:55
kiromaSo I think the issue is with sddm-greeter, it's not able to display the login screen for some reason13:56
kiromasddm works, because I can see and move my cursor around13:56
kiromaAnd everything else works as well as I'm using Konversation to talk right now.13:57
BluesKajkiroma,  changed the nomodeset line back to 'quiet splash' in grub ?13:59
kiromayes14:01
kiromaWith properitary drivers it shouldn't even matter actually so it's a bit confusing.14:03

hegemon8anything*14:04
kiromaProbably not14:04
kiromaAgain, everything was working fine before I decided to replace the default sddm with the one compiled locally14:05
kiromaI can still run graphical applications and Xorg works just fine14:05
kiromaI just can't log in with sddm-greeter.14:05
BluesKajkiroma, <acheronuk> a self build may result in files and config files left over. our packaged version does not have things quite as they would be if built from source14:07

luc4ah ah I'm using 4.1314:36
luc4maybe that is the reason14:36
luc4It freezes almost immediately when I start browsing files.14:36
kiromaI don't think so, I've been using KDE Connect since 17.10, worked fine all the time14:36
luc4oh... then no idea, but it seems somehow related to the kernel, I see kworker immedaitely reaching high cpu usage and then the system dies14:38
luc4I would like to test 18.04 but I read it won't be available for some days14:39
