blue1I am having difficulties getting libreoffice to play nicely with lubuntu 18.04.  This was not an issue with 16.04.  I disabled apparor but to no avail.  Suggestions?00:22
wxlblue1: what exactly is the problem?00:22
blue1I get an error message just a sec....00:23

blue1this is 32 bit not 64 fwiw00:24
wxlthat shouldn't matter00:25
wxllooks allowed, no?00:25
wxlwhat happened when you tried to open it/00:25
blue1librecalc works -- but when I try libre writer -- it exits nearly immediately....00:25
wxlworks here00:26
wxlhave you tried to run it in terminal and see if there's any output?00:26
blue1and I have no issues with libreoffice in xubuntu00:26
blue1yes, I have tried that but don't have the output -- let me try that again00:26
wxli.e. `lowriter`00:27
blue1no error message generated at terminal00:29
wxlyou might want to just make a bug against it and hoepfully the libreoffice folks will be able to figure it out. that or figrue out stacktracing :)00:31
blue1okay -- where can I post the bug?00:31
blue1thank you btw00:31
wxljust do `ubuntu-bug libreoffice` in the terminal00:32
blue1okay I have never done that but I will give a a try....00:32
blue1y00:32
blue1ancient machine -- lubuntu 16.04 worked great for me.00:33
wxl18.04 should do it better00:33
wxland again, i can't reproduce the bug. perhaps there's something else on the system that's conflicting00:34
blue1perhaps --00:34
blue1one other programme -- bibletime doesn't come up correctly either00:34
blue1I have apport disabled -- looks like I need to re-enable that.00:35
wxlthat works here, too00:36
blue1I disabled it in the config file00:36
wxlthat = bibletime00:36
blue1yes that works in xubuntu for me - but not lubuntu -- it just comes up to a black screen for me.00:37
blue1how long should ubuntu-bug take?00:37
wxlyep works fine here00:37
wxlit often takes a bit to collect info00:37
blue1okay it finally came up.00:38
blue1thank you -- l learned something new today.00:38
wxlnp :)00:38
blue1what about chromium?  it maxes out the cpu and never comes up.00:38
wxlyou can go file bug reports yourself but that tool will actually collect a bunch of useful information for you automatically00:38
wxlmodern browsers are often problematic on old computers00:39
wxlin general you'll need 1-2GB if you expect them to work at all00:39
blue1yes00:39
wxli'm off to get dinner and go home00:40
wxlbe well!00:41
blue1thank you again00:41
wxlhappy to help :)00:41
blue1everything worked in 16.04  but 18.04 is being a pill it seems00:42
blue1I am going to try the windows way with libreoffice -- nuke and re-install.00:49

stortfordHi, just installed Lubuntu 18.04 64 bit clean install. Scanner Canon LIDE 200 now has vertical black bar 10mm wide down centre of scan using both Simple Scan and Skanlite.Didn't happen with 16.04 LTS. Please can you advise? Thanks23:39
wxlstortford: i would suggest asking at #ubuntu and seeing if they can help. i'd be shocked if that was a lubuntu-specific issue23:40
stortfordMany thanks wxl. I'll do as you suggest.23:42
