[12:26] Good morning [12:43] <_stink_> yo [13:08] party [13:11] Speaking of parties: release party on Friday night at Penguicon [13:11] 7-9pm [13:11] double party [14:10] yawn [14:14] its penguicon?!?! [14:14] omg, I totally missed it. [14:42] not yet it is still in the future and you can still be there [14:43] jrwren: It's still on the radar [15:14] I'm feeling very dumb right now, because its taken me until now to realize this: Office Online chrome plugin can access local files. [15:15] I've wanted to replace my mom's crap windows laptop with desktop linux for a while now (she continuously gets viruses and randsomware) but she has an attachment to MS Office. This bridges that gap. [15:16] That's cool [15:16] My parents have Windows in a VM [15:17] Not sure if that would be an option but it might also bridge the gap [15:17] or Crossover Office [15:17] (Word / Excel work OK in there. Powerpoint is iffy) [15:18] Crossover is a great idea. I was leaning toward that too because I want to support them. [15:18] i don't think she uses PPT, only word and excel [15:19] Yeah, I love Crossover [15:19] I wish I could ditch my Windows VM altogether but H&R Block doesn't work under Crossover [15:19] at least not since I last checked [15:20] I think the one thing that didn't work was the MS browser engine that they were using to display stuff (Cairo/Webkit alike) [15:32] with IE/edge not being a separate download at all anywhere anymore, they can't even do something where they suggest downloading it :( [15:32] I guess they never could. The EULA always said for use on windows OS only.
