sdezielsarnold: there was no rule for ~/.msmtp.log but what do you think of this https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/f76QH6bnYq/ ?13:05
jr_admindoes anyone know how you can stop www-data from emailing you constantly?  i keep getting mail from www-data every 10 minutes that awstat.conf was not able to access acccess.log file to modify it.  i already went to /etc/logrotate.d/apache2 and modifed it to to "create 666 root adm" but i still get permission denied for awstat.conf to access /var/log/aapache2/access.log to write to14:09
RoyKjr_admin: can the awstat user access the directory?14:21
jr_adminRoyK, how can i find out if he does or not14:30
RoyKjr_admin: su -s /bin/bash - $username14:30
RoyKwhere $username is the user running awstat14:31
jr_adminim sorry im a newb. but how do i find out whos running awstat..my guess is apache or im not sure of the official username14:32
jr_adminRoyK, i guess that would be the person whos logged in?  or www-data?14:33
RoyKjrahmy: not sure how awstat is run - is it a cronjob?14:42
RoyKerm - that was meant for jr_admin, who just left14:43

sarnoldsdeziel: ah! looks good to me. I hadn't realized I specified the log location by hand :)18:31
sdezielsarnold: great18:32
bladernrHey, is there a wiki page or something that explains the differences between subiquity and d-i in Bionic?19:06
bladernrJust something that's kind of a high-level comparison explaining why we have two images for Ubuntu Server19:06
bladernrI know there's a very small blurb about it in the release notes, but I was hoping for something more consumable for non-engineers.19:09
Bluekingubuntu 18.04 LTS good ?19:20
sarnoldmost folks seem to be liking it well enough19:21
naccbladernr: subiquity and ubiquity you mean?19:23
bladernrnacc, no, there are two Ubuntu Server images... one uses Subiquity and the other is d-i based.19:23
bladernrnacc, the subiquity image is on releases.ubuntu.com while users are directed to cdimages.ubuntu.com for the d-i one19:24
naccbladernr: both installers are available from the reqular ISO, aiui?19:24
naccdpb1: --^ ?19:24
bladernrubuntu-18.04-server-live.iso vs ubuntu-18.04-server.iso...19:24
powersjlive == new default installer based on subiquity; provides a more streamlined experience, ask less questions, and eventually enable more complex scenarios19:26
powersjthe old ISO using d-i, also referred to as ubiquity, is still around to enable features that are not yet enabled in the live ISO19:27
powersjboth are available at http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/19:27
naccpowersj: thanks!19:27
powersjdaily-live == subiquity, daily == ubiquity19:27
nacci think the release notes also talk a bit about the differences and when you might need to use the old installer19:28
bladernrnacc, yeah, the release notes were pretty light, I was just hoping for something like a side-by-side I could just easily pass along to partners when they ask.  No worries though.19:31
bladernrpowersj, also thanks, I didn't realize the d-i server image was referred to as ubuiquity... ubiquity to me was always the live image on the Desktop ISO, I never really connected that name to the server iso19:32
powersjyeah, it is probably more accurate to say d-i19:33
_KaszpiR_bladernr from my experience I can say preseed from xenial works under bonic19:43
_KaszpiR_at least if using netboot19:43
naccbladernr: yeah i'm not sure it's been done, but probably worth doing :)20:37
