[09:48] hi all, i'm starting to use the ibus vietnamese ime on Ubuntu. how can I get to "!" on the keyboard. it doesn't seem to be anywhere, including on the 'keyboard layout chart'. currently i'm switching to another ime just to type it in. [09:48] er [09:49] don't use vnese keyboard layout [09:49] just use us qwerty [09:50] US querty or PC105 layout works just fine :3 [09:51] do you mean just use an english ime? not type tones etc? [09:51] i'm selecting 'vi' under the ibus ime list. [09:52] hmm [09:52] we use 'ibus-unikey' [09:53] hmm.. ok, i'll check the package. [09:57] so it looks like i'm using ibus-table-viqr [09:58] so will give ibus-unikey a try! [09:58] cheers [09:59] we often use telex [10:00] it means if you want 'á', you will type 'a' and then 's' [10:00] 'à': 'a' + 'f' [10:00] 'ã': 'a' + 'x' [10:00] 'ạ': 'a' + 'j' [10:00] 'â': 'a' + 'a' [10:01] 'ă': 'a' + 'w' [10:01] oh right. that's how it works on my android phone. [10:01] and so on [10:01] that would be great on the desktop keyboard too. [10:01] so it works with unikey hey? [10:01] juu: use ibus-unikey or fcitx-unikey [10:02] thanks, i;ll try that. [10:02] telex should be the default one [10:03] no one maintains ibus-unikey; therefore, fcitx is better in my opinion [10:19] telex unikey working great. thanks a lot guys.
