Son_Gokuhey folks11:41
Son_GokuI don't suppose anyone has considered making CentOS packages for MAAS?11:43
anankeSon_Goku: I'd love to have that as an option. however, since it's a canonical product, I won't hold my breath on that ever happening11:55
Son_Gokuananke, it'd be nice though11:56
Son_Gokuit's not like the CentOS project is closed to any participant11:56
Son_Gokuthey have SIGs for stuff like this (like the config management SIG) that MAAS folks could participate in to make it available11:56
Son_Gokuananke, it'd probably only benefit Canonical, since they'd be able to reach a wider audience11:57
Son_Gokuor if it was in EPEL, it'd be easy to use from even within RHEL11:57
anankeyes, that would be nice. we're mostly a centos shop, so everything is built around that. maas evaluation is a bit harder since most of our configuration management doesn't have sufficient provisions for ubuntu12:01
Son_Gokuit didn't work out for us because maas configuration of CentOS wasn't that good (back in 1.9)12:02
Son_Gokuananke, I suspect that if potential customers expressed interest in it, they would probably do it12:02
Son_Gokuthough packaging MAAS for RPM distributions is way easier than debian ones, so I don't know why they haven't done it yet anyway...12:03
anankeI really need to get back to my evaluation of maas/juju. got two racks of hardware prepped and basic maas stood up three or so weeks ago, haven't gotten back to it yet12:12
roaksoaxSon_Goku: you can use the snap12:49
Son_Gokunope12:49
Son_Gokusnap is not acceptable for infrastructure for various reasons12:50
roaksoaxSon_Goku: you mean this is not acceptable for infrastructure? https://snapcraft.io/12:50
Son_Gokuyes12:50
roaksoaxSon_Goku: how so? i hear completely different statement from a lot of other people12:50
Son_Gokuuncontrolled auto-updating, and no facilities for private mirroring12:51
Son_Gokuor even private internal-only publishing12:51
Son_Gokuroaksoax, also snaps are not supported on CentOS or RHEL anyway ;)12:51
Son_Gokuand on the RH/Fedora platform, there's no confinement, so they don't offer any security either12:52
roaksoaxSon_Goku: the maas snap is not confined yet12:52
Son_Gokuat least in Fedora, classic snaps require manual setup12:52
Son_Gokubut if it's a regular devmode snap, I'm surprised its even in the store12:53
Son_Gokusupposedly, the store guys say they don't accept those12:53
roaksoaxah yeah classic snaps would require that indeed12:54
Son_Gokuclassic snaps don't work out of the box on Fedora, CentOS, or any other non-Ubuntu platform except Solus12:55
Son_Gokuroaksoax, for us, or even if I were to personally use MAAS (which I'm considering), I want it to be able to be managed through the system package manager, be properly working with SELinux, etc.12:57
roaksoaxSon_Goku: sure, but once snaps are in there, that's the way we would support maas13:00
Son_Gokuit's unlikely as long as SELinux based confinement isn't supported13:11
kristian2709_Hey, please could someone help me pxe boot maas images? I am getting this error. "mount: mounting https://images.maas.io/ephemeral-v3/daily/bionic/amd64/20180426.2/squashfs on /root failed: No such device"14:50
mupBug #1771600 opened: [2.3.3] There are no procedure for HA when using snaps <MAAS:New> <https://launchpad.net/bugs/1771600>14:57
roaksoaxkristian2709_: ?/15:30
roaksoaxkristian2709_: when do you get that error ?15:30
kristian2709_roaksoax: I am doing a pxe boot from custom pxe server15:53
roaksoaxkristian2709_: right, that's not supported in MAAS. MAAS is the pxe server16:10
kristian2709_roaksoax: I want to boot it with my custom pxe server16:10
roaksoaxkristian2709_: MAAS is the pxe server, you not really using MAAS if you have another external pxe server16:11
kristian2709_roaksoax: I do not want to use maas at all, I want my own pxe server so I can boot it in a non maas environment16:12
roaksoaxkristian2709_: right, so unfortunately that's not something I can help you with16:13
kristian2709_roaksoax: really? its a maas image, so you should be able to help me with that16:14
roaksoaxkristian2709_: maas images are built for use with MAAS... you are trying to use a /MAAS/ image on a different PXE server or a non-MAAS environment16:56
roaksoaxkristian2709_: unfortauntely, i cannot help you with that16:56
kristian2709_roaksoax: is there a way to create a custom image to use it like that image, but on a custom pxe server?16:59
