rrpHi. I have a question. In ubuntu website's flavour page (https://www.ubuntu.com/download/flavours), it said that, LXQT is Lubuntu's default DE. But in Lubuntu's website (https://lubuntu.me/about/) it is said that, Lubuntu's default DE is LXDE. I'm confused.18:46
wxlrrp: we're in transition. for this cycle onward, it's LXQt. previous was LXDE.18:47
wxlif you want to get really goofy, LXQt arose from the framework of LXDE and so they're kind of both LXDE XD18:47
rrpWhat's the DE in 18.04?18:47
wxlif DE means desktop environment and is not an indication of the graphics libraries it uses (which it's not)18:47
wxlLXDE18:47
wxlbut 18.10 and on will be LXQt18:47
cristian__chi19:13
cristian__cI've installed dropbox but applet doesn't show dropbox icon and  it's not working19:14
cristian__cI've created a new autostart entry changing dropbox launch command19:15
cristian__cunfortunately, dropbox default autostart is often enabled by the system, even if I disable it by lxsession19:15
cristian__cI've tried some workarounds but I don't know how to delete default dropbox autostart entry (in order to use custom new dropbox launch autostart)19:16
cristian__cany ideas?19:16
Guest21212hi... i am trying to install lubuntu 18.04 64bit on my newer computer from usb (it has no cd drive) but i keep getting the error about it not being able to install grub due to UEFI19:41
Guest21212i did set it in bios to legacy instead of UEFI but i still get this error19:42
Guest21212it doesnt matter if i choose install or try lubuntu (and install from there) in the boot menu19:44
Guest21212i also put the iso on usb via dd and via unetbootin.. no difference there either19:44
cristian__cGuest21212: I don't what computter you're talking about19:49
cristian__c*don't know what computer19:51
diogenes_Guest21212, what partitioning you have chosen?19:53
Guest21212a gigabyte Z270M-D3H with an intel i5-7600K19:54
Guest21212ehm dunno about the partitioning.. there is allready win7 on it and i had lubuntu 16.04.4 on it19:55
Guest21212(32bit tho)19:55
Guest21212can i see in gparted?19:55
Guest21212the partition for lubuntu is on an extended partion19:56
diogenes_Guest21212, have you got 2 HDDs?19:56
Guest21212nope19:57
Guest21212eh wait19:57
Guest21212yes i have another one in there19:57
Guest21212but no OS on it.. only data19:57
diogenes_yep, that could be the issue, try to pick the "something else" and install linux only on one of the drives19:58
diogenes_not using both19:58
Guest21212i did that19:58
diogenes_then you need to somehow unplug one of them, maybe disable it in bios19:58
Guest21212trying to install linux on the drive with win719:59
Guest21212so i gotta disable the data drive?19:59
diogenes_and also don't forget to add additional partition: /boot/efi 300 MB19:59
Guest21212i did in "something else"  pick the extended partition and set its mount point to /20:00
Guest21212ah20:00
Guest21212so there got to be a little partion extra with swap to have it boot?20:00
diogenes_but wait20:00
diogenes_you've got win 7 right?20:01
Guest21212uefi is new for me20:01
Guest21212yes20:01
diogenes_does win 7 boot when uefi if off?20:01
Guest21212it has some boot partition i guess.. 500mn20:01
Guest21212*mb20:01
Guest21212grub is gone now so i cant boot20:02
Guest21212this is the live-usb20:02
diogenes_ok when you was booting windows previously, was uefi on?\20:02
Guest21212in bios it was on yes.. and it did work with lubu 16.04.4 32bit20:03
Guest21212i think something is wrong with this 18.04 installer20:04
diogenes_Guest21212, burn the iso with rosaimagewriter and try again20:04
diogenes_also turn on uefi and add the partition that i mentioned20:05
diogenes_and unplug one of the drives20:05
Guest21212ok.. odd... never heard of rosa.. will try20:06
Guest21212gotta get off here when i put the new image on this usb20:06
wxlGuest21212: UEFI has just worked for me for quite a while now. If you've ensured you didn't have download/copy errors, it should just work for you20:07
Guest21212you allready installed a fresh 18.04?20:08
wxlyup20:08
Guest21212i doubt its the image tho20:08

wxldid you check the hashes?20:09
Guest21212i trythat firstthen20:09
wxlthat's ALWAYS what you should do20:10
wxldownload/copy errors are ridiculously common20:10
wxlone bit could mean totally disastrous behavior20:10
Guest21212the torrent was ferified ok20:12
Guest21212now for the hash20:12
wxlstill could mean copy errors20:12
Guest21212md5sum is thesame20:19

Guest21212(diogenes)20:26
Newkyi was in here an hour ago with uefi and grub install issue.. turns out the usb got booted with UEFI and needed to boot it explicitly without UEFI for it not to clash when installing it21:31
Newkyi mean booting the usb with no uefi... but uefi is activated in bios21:32
Newkystrange affair :P21:32
Newkythanx again for the heads up.. time to get a drink and hang out now21:33
