xubuntu87dhi how do i download the latest version of xubuntu02:43
cfhowlettxubuntu87d, torrents is best02:44
OutyHello there =)  I have a litte prob with 18.04. When I mount a network share manual in terminal it does not appear in Thunar anymore. How can this be fixed?08:32
pmjdebru1jnexactly how did you mount it?08:36
pmjdebru1jnand how do you mean it doesn't appear in Thunar anymore08:36
pmjdebru1jnmount -t cifs ?08:36
pmjdebru1jnor via gvfs/gio ?08:36
pmjdebru1jnOuty: do elaborate08:37
Outypmjdebru1jn: sudo mount -o vers=1.0 //192.168.0.100/folder /media/user/net08:37
pmjdebru1jndid that work before? since that surprises me a little08:38
pmjdebru1jnI thought Thunar only did the gvfs/gio stuff08:38
Outymounting is not the prob here... the prob is when i have done that on 16.04 it appeared in thunar as mounted network share, now its not visible and i have to navigate to the folder myself inside thunar08:38
pmjdebru1jni'm not sure whether the old behavior was intentional08:39
pmjdebru1jni'm not sure if manually messing with /media is a good idea to begin with to be honest08:39
pmjdebru1jnbut I'm hardly an expert08:39
pmjdebru1jnOuty: stick around, maybe someone else can be more helpful08:39
Outypmjdebru1jn: see image - my new network share will be shown in thunar after mount via terminal: http://i.imgur.com/ndH8fA6.png08:41
Outypmjdebru1jn: now it's not shown in the quick links on left side anymore and i have to navigate to the folder08:42
pmjdebru1jnI understand your issue08:43
pmjdebru1jnI just wonder if your expectations are based on something that accidentally worked in older versions, as opposed to being an intentional feature08:44
pmjdebru1jnbut as I said, I'm not intimately familiar with Thunar08:44
pmjdebru1jnjust stick around08:44
Outyokay i will ... =) thanks08:45
Outypmjdebru1jn: if you mount a network share, would you put it somwhere else? like /mnt/something ?08:45
pmjdebru1jnprobably08:48
pmjdebru1jnto prevent conflicts with automounted stuff08:48
Outymaybe that could be it ... i'll try08:49
pmjdebru1jnthe other way to look at this would be, try mounting a cifs share via thunar08:49
pmjdebru1jnthat will most likely be via GVFS/GIO08:49
pmjdebru1jnmaybe just figure out how that works via CLI08:49
Outythanks I will ^^08:52
FurretUberHow do I enable the hibernate button? I have tested hibernation with "systemctl hibernate" and it is working, but the button is not appearing10:15
Outyahhh i did that a while ago...   but i have to remember... wait a sec10:27
OutyFurretUber: find it here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/94754/how-to-enable-hibernation          scroll down to Ubuntu 16.04 and above10:33
FurretUberIt worked, thank you10:36

knomehello11:59
pmjdebru1jnhey12:21
pmjdebru1jndoes anybody have a clue whats up with light-locker in xubuntu12:22
pmjdebru1jnin regular ubuntu going to light-locker crossfades nicely into the locker screen12:22
pmjdebru1jnon xubuntu I get briefly kicked back to my console, asif Xorg is being restarted or something12:22
pmjdebru1jnit's not a huge issue12:24
pmjdebru1jnbut it makes locking the screen relatively slow before I can visually confirm my system is indeed locked12:24
pmjdebru1jni'm wondering whether that's a conscious change or just a minor regression12:27
pmjdebru1jnso I just read this has always been the case on xubuntu12:48
pmjdebru1jnoh wait12:52
pmjdebru1jnlight-locker != dm-tool12:52

jaltHi, do any of you know/use a hashing tool that integrates nicely with Thunar? Something like hashcheck for Windows (http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/)? I am already aware of GUI tools like QuickHash and GtkHash, but I would prefer something more tightly coupled with Thunar.18:35
krytarikWell, you could create a Custom Action for any of those.18:36
Spasshello jalt, maybe this will help http://www.cupoflinux.com/SBB/index.php?topic=2812.018:37
* flocculant likes custom actions18:38
jalthmm i would need to review the level of control over custom actions. i want a context menu that allows computing hashes of whatever was selected/highlighted, be it files or folders (recursively), or if the single selected item is itself a checksum file (*.md5, *.sha1, etc.) it should offer to verify the files, and be smart enough to detect relative/absolute paths etc.18:42
jalton a related note, i just installed thunar-gtkhash (xubuntu 16.04.4 amd64), which supposedly integrates gtkhash with thunar, and nothing happened. maybe i need to logout/login.18:44
jaltok, thunar-gtkhash is definitely not what i want. all it does is add a digests entry to (normal) file properties. I will check that custom actions link. I believe the magic to be provided by zenity, which I will also look into. Thanks for the tips!18:51
