alterjsivewhat is the best way to use adobe software on kubuntu these days? inside a VM? playonlinux?06:03
alterjsiveright now I need to edit a adobe illustrator file for example. I've tried Vectr and Krita. They didn't import the file well06:03
denza242alterjsive: WINE probably06:05
alterjsivedenza242: playonlinux uses wine, do you know it? it's a library of working tweaked windows configurations06:08
denza242yeah, I've used it06:08
lordievaderGood morning06:10
alterjsivedenza242: ok , thx I'll try it06:12

underground19hello? anyone about?09:20
diogenes_!ask | underground1909:21
ubottuunderground19: Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience09:21
lordievaderunderground19: IRC is an indirect medium, please be patient.09:24
underground19Fair enough! Sorry.  When I open a new window or resize a window, all background elements (ie everything apart from the window I've opened) begin to flicker to black. This clears when I super+tab to refresh the activity view, but it's not great and it spoils the kubuntu evangelism that I'm doing a lot of these days :) I'm running Kubuntu 18.04 using the nvidia-driver-390. I know I should probably just change my driver but I'm scared of restarting in09:28
underground19case I have problems, and this only started happenign a few days ago, maybe after an apt upgrade. Anyone come across this?09:28
lordievaderDoes kwin log errors to the journal?09:30
underground19sorry lordievader, not sure where kwins logs are? I'm a recent debian immigrant.09:32
lordievaderHere, on Gentoo, kwin/kde logs go to the system journal. `sudo journalctl -f` Run that in a konsole and try to reproduce the issue.09:33
underground19Thanks,  well there's certainly some stuff being printed in the journal when I open windows, but not seeing anything that strikes me as related to the flickering. Nothing printed when I resize a window, for example.09:39
lordievaderWhat is the output of `sudo lspci -k`?09:45
underground19specific to graphics?09:49
underground1901:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107M [GeForce09:49

underground19GT 650M Mac Edition] \ Kernel driver in use: nvidia \ Kernel modules:09:49
underground19nvidiafb, nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia \09:49
lordievaderCould you use a pastebin service next time?09:50
lordievaderThe `nouveau` driver is still loaded, did you forget to blacklist it?09:50
lordievaderOr the installer didn't do that ;)09:51
lordievader`/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf` (or something like that) should contain `blacklist nouveau`.09:51

scorlupkaguys, do you know where I can find links to apps on my task panel?17:50
scorlupkaI need add some parameters but I don't know where it is17:50
diogenes_scorlupka, what links?17:53
scorlupkadiogenes_: there are icons on the task panel, I've attached it17:56
scorlupkafor quick access17:56
scorlupkawhen I click on it then it launches an app. I need to customize it (add scaling for chromium)17:57
scorlupkabut can't find it17:57
diogenes_those are icons that u pin to panel from menu?17:58
scorlupkacorrect17:59

scorlupkahttps://i.stack.imgur.com/mfjn2.jpg18:00
scorlupkafirefox on the screenshot18:00
diogenes_scorlupka, /usr/share/applications18:02
scorlupkadiogenes_: yeah it fits for regular applications, but not for apps that were installed via snapd18:04
scorlupkait looks like it uses something else18:04
diogenes_scorlupka, there is an easy way to find it out, add the needed application icon to the desktop, change the name (myapp.desktop), customize it the way you want (don't forget to change the Name = ?? too) and copy it to /home/username/.local/share/applications18:06
diogenes_and in the menu you gonna find out your new application icon with the settings you need18:07
scorlupkadiogenes_: sounds good, I will try. Thanks a lot!18:07
